Do jumpsuits suit anyone?

This has been playing on my mind since my husband said that jumpsuits don't suit anyone. A friend of mine told me the opposite that jumpsuits suit everyone so thought I would have it a go and I now have two. I don't wear them often and he didn't comment when I did wear them on holiday but I have been reluctant to wear them even more since he said this even though it wasn't really directed at me personally. What do you all think?

No - they don’t suit every one. Sadly. I love jumpsuits. I have seen some online and a friend of mine wore one for a wedding and I think god they look lovely. But not on me! Im short and not proportional at all and look like… well I don’t even know what I look like but not something I can pull off for sure. 😞

I love a jumpsuit and I think they suit most people but depending on which one you wear.

Contrary to some posters on here, I actually think they often look better on taller people.

I love a playsuit too (shorts instead of trousers) and used to live in them.

I don’t really wear jumpsuits anymore simply because of the faff of getting half naked when going to the toilet.

There was a thread on here yesterday and the woman looked amazing.

I would love to see your jumpsuit without the t-shirt underneath.
If it’s too low cut then perhaps with a vest top on.

But I do agree that I think body proportion is important as the people who I see who look great in them always have long legs.

No, I don't think they suit everyone. The one you're wearing isn't great, but its the outfit thats wrong, not you! A co-ord would look so much better....

I wore them 30 plus years ago in my 20's. 5 ft 8 and size 8. They suited me then - they definitely wouldn't now.

I've never seen anyone look good in them, including myself and the OP I'm afraid. Not to mention having to get almost completely undressed whenever you go to the loo.

I suppose a jumpsuit is a bit like a dress (top and bottom are same garment) but in trouser form; so it has the potential to look good. But to be honest, it rarely achieves its potential. So no, I don't believe jumpsuits suit anyone.

And that's before we consider the sheer impracticality of going to the toilet and basically having to strip to do so.

Like most things difficult and unforgiving to wear you have to be stick thin and very tall to look remotely okay.

I wore one this morning, and took it straight off. It was alright, but it didn’t look right

The crotch is always in an awkward place

I have to so a dress rehearsal on how I’m going to pee with them on

I find they never just fit, the bottom part or the top half always needs adjustment

I must say I have a denim one and a very baggy one that look like workwear and are great for if I’m having a super practical day.

Other than that, I think that it takes a lot more effort to find the right jumpsuit shape for you (as in person).

I suspect you have a nice figure but nobody would know. V unflattering.

I love a jumpsuit. Being long bodied with short legs and a very curvy 14/16 I have to be careful of shape. I can't wear one that has a fitted waist for example so I tend to stick with a unstructured wide leg style in a soft fabric.

Steer well clear of the boiler suit or straight legged styles.

I have one singular jumpsuit and I love it. It's a black long leg sleeveless halter and when all blinged up with jewelry, it is gorgeous. Almost every other time I have seen a jumpsuit I have not liked them on anyone.

But if you like it then wear it, no matter what you wear you will never be to everybody's tastes, so fuck it

My mum when she was younger wore boiler suits (colourful) and jumpsuits. She worked as a primary school teacher. She’s tall, slim, long legged and long body with small breasts. Wears dungarees now though.

I think men can often fail to appreciate the art of a good jumpsuit.

It's true they can be unflattering. But I've got a really decent looking green long sleeved one that I think could look good on people up to about size 18.

And you can get floatier ones that could look good on bigger than that.

They don't suit everyone. If a woman has hips, i.e. not fairly straight up and down or just quite skinny, most jumpsuits aren't that flattering. Comfortable, yes, flattering, no.

I have a work colleague that's a size 6 and quite short, she wears fun jumpsuits in the summer and looks ace in them, quite elegant. Another colleague of mine wears baggy colourful dungarees and looks awesome. Flattering maybe not so much, but she's about the size of a 16-year-old, and wears a lot of childish clothing without having to think about fit and comfort too hard, most of what she wears fits deliberatey baggy.

I am tall and not particularly blessed with hips, I wear baggy boiler suits for a catwalk-y look and get a lot of compliments.

While jumpsuits can be super comfortable, they are not necessarily designed for a feminine figure. I love them for a WFH outfit due to comfort, but... I'd only wear certain ones outside the house.

Also, they're overrated because, when you use the loo...

I like a jumpsuit. I just bought this and have worn it without anything underneath. I like the fact it has a combination of zip fly and button front so it sits flat on my tummy.
