Yes, it's lovely!

Nanda66 · 27/06/2026 09:50

Yes. But even if I thought it wasn’t I’d tell you to wear it anyway if you like it.

cinquanta · 27/06/2026 09:53

Why wouldn't it be?

barcodenotfound · 27/06/2026 10:08

Thanks all! I know I should just crack on and buy what I like but I am full of self-doubt and overthink everything (thanks hormones). Off to order said dress x

Why wouldn’t it be? I can understand wondering whether or not the dress is nice (it is) but what has your age got to do with it?

mumofthemonsters808 · 27/06/2026 10:18

Its lovely perfect for the Summer.

Onmytod24 · 27/06/2026 10:19

It’s a lovely light modest dress ageless

abitbloodybrighteroverthere · 27/06/2026 10:31

To me it’s a bit overly fussy, and lumpen. But it’s a perfectly ordinary dress that anyone could wear.

Additup · 27/06/2026 11:04

OP, age is irrelevant. If something fits you and you look and feel good in it then it's suitable attire x

Lumpen?

Judging · 27/06/2026 11:06

Not sure what being mid 50s could possibly have to do with it?

It’s a very modest, somewhat dreary dress.

3luckystars · 27/06/2026 11:07

It’s exactly the type of dress someone in their 50s would wear? It’s grand.

Itsasecretnow · 27/06/2026 12:09

Cannot see it. Have you all broken it by looking at the same time? 😆

Mid 50s, is this ok?
ithinkilikethislittlelife · 27/06/2026 12:16

I’m mid 50s and wear whatever I like. I can’t see the picture but don’t give a hoot about what others say, you wear whatever you like 👍🏻 I’m currently sat out the garden in black linen trousers and a black vest 😊

LondonLass2026 · 27/06/2026 12:19

Am I the only one who can't see it?

Anyway I would say just wear what you like! As long as you feel comfortable and good in it, and it's not a skirt just below your knickers.

When I was in my 20s I had had my son, so I looked lumpy and awful in most clothing. So I didn't really bother. However, when I hit about 33, I started working out, spinning, running on the treadmill. I took a massive interest in fashion and I wore short skirts all the time, and they suited me a hundred times more than they would have in my 20s. I became really experimental and got so many compliments. It sadly changed when I hit 40 and put on about two stone with absolutely no warning. Same diet and same workouts.

It all depends where you personally are, and how you look and feel. Not on your age.

I can't see the dress from the link.
But these are some mid-fifties women

Kylie Minogue
Jennifer Lopez
Nicole Kidman
Jennifer Garner
etc

I'm also mid 50s and wear whatever I like. I went out last night in a silk playsuit and , horror of horrors, high heels 👠

henlake7 · 27/06/2026 12:58

Also cant see the dress but if you like it, wear it.

I cant be the only mid fifties woman who just thinks 'do I like it?'. My age never crosses my mind!

Not forgetting the legend that's madonna. Ten years older with fitness and figure unsurpassable. Perhaps too many facial tweaks but so what if her choice makes her feel good.

Interesting take. So once we get to our 50s we all dress alike? What a curious thing to say. I know hundreds of women in their 50s and amazingly our tastes haven’t all merged into one big I AM OLD vibe and we still all dress quite differently.

barcodenotfound · 27/06/2026 13:21

This is the dress (hopefully photo will be approved soon)

If you like it get it, I'm not sure what being in your mid 50's has to do with it.

ErrolTheDragon · 27/06/2026 13:47

Fine if it fits well and suits your figure - it’s the sort of dress which will look good on some bodies and not on others, I think, regardless of age.

Ponoka7 · 27/06/2026 13:57

As said, it depends on what it looks like on, if you are comfortable in it etc. I could have worn that younger, but now it would be aging. It's a bit odd the way that happens. I've found I can't wear polka dots, I look like I work in a supermarket, back in the 80's.

Canoodler · 27/06/2026 14:01

The puff sleeves might possibly look weird at any age. They often do ime.
