Anyone have a recommendation or a few for shorts that cover these…

  • enough arse covering that my cheeks aren’t showing but not so long they look frumpy
  • no iron / easy iron
  • flatter a big tummy
  • comfortable waist band
  • don’t cut your fanny in half when you sit down
  • on trend / young ish fashion
  • not adversed to something funky

Sezane has some lovely shorts

lindyloo57 · Yesterday 15:57

The shorts look lovely, but they are polyester don't you sweat in them.

TKMaxx have loads ( if you have time to browse!).

Fat Face do natural fibres and a range of styles.

These are my favourite shorts. I have them in every colour.

I like the look of these ones which come in a few colours, though seem a bit expensive for what they are: https://www.hush-uk.com/betty-leopard-pull-on-denim-shorts-natural-leopard-brown/015364-4833.html

Good question - I didn’t check the material when I bought them, assume they were some kind of bamboo viscose as they feel very soft and luxurious. so I’m surprised they are polyester!

I’ve worn them today in London where it’s been very close. Not sweaty at all.

It’s interesting that you’re looking at the shorter shorts because Bermuda shorts have been more fashionable for a couple of years. That’s both in the tailored version and the jeans version

I've got these from Next.

Size down though, I got a size 10 and they're a little bit big and I'm definitely not a 10!

It annoys me that my DH and adult DCs shorts are well made and in natural fabrics. Whereas women really have to schlep around for decent quality.

Reasonably expensive but Paper London’s frais shorts are very flattering

Nothungrycat · Yesterday 19:26

There are some very reasonable priced shorts in Uniqlo at the moment in cotton or linen many with elasticated waists. I've just bought these longer linen ones (which are nearly culottes) https://www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/products/E484127-000/00?colorDisplayCode=69&sizeDisplayCode=003 But was also tempted by these https://www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/products/E483912-000/00?colorDisplayCode=65&sizeDisplayCode=003 I'm size 16 and find the XL or L is fine.

I've bought some nice ones in H&M recently, also Sainsbury's!

TreesAtSea · Yesterday 19:56

Agree with PP recommendations of TKMaxx & H&M. Got some lovely soft and comfortable Brakeburn ones from TKMaxx and some lightweight dark denim ones in H&M, both at knockdown prices.

I’m after a few new pairs and not found anything either.

Last year In a heatwave I resorted to some new pairs and vest tops none of which have lasted well or been comfy. They are in the bottom of my drawer not worn this year so far but for emergencies.

I have a couple of nice pairs from fatface from a few years ago that I wear regularly. Not a style I thought would ever be ok on me but very comfy and look fine. One pair i did have to return as material ripped between the legs on first wear so check stitching if you buy some. My other pairs are worn on repeat on thr very hot days. I’ll go and try to find a link to the style in a minute.

ExitPursuedByABare · Yesterday 20:05

I bought a nice dark green pair in Tesco the other day. Also available in khaki. First pair of shorts I’ve bought for many years, having lost a shed load of weight.

mine have waistbands like these but are patterned. I never thought they would be ok because of my tummy but the best shorts I own.

Those are lovely. Could you point me in the vague direction of them?

Kindnesscostsnothingtryit · Yesterday 21:48

I've just bought these. So so comfy and look nice too.

The only shorts I wear that are well made and fit well are a pair I had to borrow from my other half when my suitcase went astray on holiday. I liked them so much I kept them. No idea what make they are but the shape and quality are really good.

I always get the Roman ones from next, soooo comfy and stretchy, cover everything, and go just above the knee.

my mum also wears them…they work for everyone
