Another ‘is this too white’ one…!

I’ve got it already - just arrived and fits a treat, I really like it! It’s a very pale blue but in dimmer light looks white, is it too white? I didn’t think so at first but now worrying it’s a bit little girl bridesmaidy. I would probably wear it with a navy jacket or cardigan but if v hot would like to be able to wear it as is. It also comes in navy with white spots which is a bit boring, but maybe more sensible?

Photo?

GellerYeller · 09/06/2026 22:08

Usually on MN, the consensus is, ‘if you need to ask, then yes it is’ . There’s an article in the press about Kate’s pale royal wedding guest outfits in order not to pull focus from the bride though. That is quite the different view isn’t it? 😂

I thinks it’s absolutely lovely! Not too light at all.

Sandysandybeaches · 09/06/2026 22:15

Yes, that one, thank you Verity, I couldn’t make a photo work!

I think it’s absolutely fine. If you’re worried then wear dark shoes and jewellery.

gokartdillydilly · 09/06/2026 22:17

Don't be so ridiculous.

DappledThings · 09/06/2026 22:18

Completely fine. Like nearly every other "is it too white" dress on here.

Um? Bit harsh? I don’t think it’s ridiculous to ask opinions about clothes on the style and beauty thread - that’s what it’s for!!

It’s lovely and totally suitable! Stop doubting yourself :)

Getmystuffsorted · Yesterday 01:45

I wouldn’t

ktopfwcv · Yesterday 01:55

Going against the grain it looks too pale to me. Maybe it looks different in person? Online it looks too white although it is polka dot.

Namechangeforthisdilemma1 · Yesterday 02:03

I wouldn’t either, from a distance it looks white. There must be other dresses or even the pink one!

Namechangeforthisdilemma1 · Yesterday 02:04

I just don’t get the apparently very common fascination with wearing a dress that appears white to a wedding.

Cardiaga · Yesterday 02:17

I love it. It’s not too white for a wedding in my view

Beekman · Yesterday 02:27

Sorry, I think it is too pale. There are tons of other colours to go with but still, we get these threads. As with all of them, it’s good to remember that it’s not just the bride you’re trying not to offend (who probably has other stuff to think about on the day and won’t even notice) but all the other guests who will wonder who you think you are. Don’t be that person.

EleanorMc67 · Yesterday 02:59

It's absolutely fine. Anyone who thinks it looks white needs an eye test!

AImportantMermaid · Yesterday 04:52

I’m usually in the ‘Yea it’s too white camp’ but that seems fine to me.

extrabeans · Yesterday 05:21

I really like that! There's no rule against pale colours.

Sandysandybeaches · Yesterday 06:14

Hmmm thank you all. It is pale blue and looks it in some lights, but my dd saw it and said ‘isn’t it a bit white’ - it does look white in some lights. Rats! Now that I have wondered I think it means no.

Lots of positive reviews about the dress on Hobbs site. Wearing it at a wedding seems to be a popular choice. I like the ‘style with’ options’ - Blue Flo ballerinas and blue Ottilie fascinator .

You mention it looking too white in a dimmer light. Will you be in a dim light at the wedding?

Will the bride be wearing a polka dot dress? If not then what’s the issue? It’s a lovely dress and if you like it and it fits well then why not wear it?

Flat, navy, preferably patent, closed toe pumps. The sandals they've paired it with are horrible.

TestingTestingWonTooFree · Yesterday 06:54

I think it’s fine. It’s blue, polka dot and knee length. Unlikely to be mistaken for bridal.

The Blue Flo ballerinas are so much nicer than the sandals the model is wearing. There's no issue, it's fine.
