I was tempted to buy the Selfridge's 2nd fragrance edit, but I'm going to hold out for it going into the sale. I paid the first price (£65) for the first one and I've hardly touched it. I read somewhere that they're planning to do 4 of these, but if they're not selling well, I wonder if that'll change 🤔

The second one is not a patch on the first one, also a bit disappointed that it's positioned as 'masculine' - what about us ladies? I think most of the scents are unisex but the first box was more of a mixture plus the perfumes came in boxes which makes it a lot easier to re sell.

However, it is good value at £55 for 6 and I've been sampling them alongside selling. The portraits of portofino is nice, and not particularly masculine.

The first box now down to £38 is really good value for me as I can easily make my money back halfeti and ganymede in particular go quickly.

Roses on Ice (Kilian) for me today. I've been putting off trying this one because I'm not much of a rose lover but I'm pleasantly surprised. I'm finding it hard to pick out the individual notes but it seems well blended and interesting to my nose.

PDM Delina today - it's a lovely refreshing rose with a touch of fruit I think Lychee. I can see why it's popular with mass appeal.

Isn't it rhubarb? I've only tried it once, but the rhubarb seemed more prominent than the rose. As I mentioned on here, I accidentally gave it away to a friend so I haven't been able to revisit it.

potplantsinparadise · 18/06/2026 11:40

ffern Summer 26 - opens with a very sharp pithy grapefruit, moves into more woody and powdery rose, ends with aromatics and spice. Definitely a sister to Summer 25 which I loved. Really appreciate that not everyone likes ffern, and I'm batting about 50:50 for keep/return, but when they get it right, it sings. This one's definitely a hot weather keeper.

Blingismything · 18/06/2026 11:50

Pulled out one of my old Summer favourites today, Sisley Eau de Campagne.

IDontHateRainbows · 18/06/2026 11:50

Sunset hour today which is lovely, forgot how much I like this. Definitely right for the season.

We were both right. Fragrantica mentions rhubarb and lychee.

I've just looked at Fragrantica for Roses on Ice and mostly reviews say it's cucumber heavy. It's supposed to represent a gin & tonic with cucumber slice and rose petals. I don't find the cucumber overpowering; I'm sure I've had another perfume which was more cucumber-y.

Anyway, I like it. Certainly more than Atkinsons Mint and Tonic which smells of mouthwash.

Are we allowed to talk about dupes on this thread as I’ve just been to Lidl and there’s new ones

Yes, there's not many rules on here!

Thank you !! I’ve just been in Lidl and there’s new aftershave dupes ( I’m female but I prefer male scents) the top one in my photo ( when it loads) is ‘wild frontier’ - a very good copy of creed aventus that I buy for my husband at £200 + a bottle . The dupe is £4.99.

Then there’s Fiery Edge- dupe of Louis Vuitton ombré nomade

The others are Tavolo verde and edge of darkness I’m not sure what they’re dupes of .

I'm sitting here in a cloud of the wild frontier and it smells incredible.

Scent of the day part 9 with the friendly perfumistas - cheapies or niche we're smelling divine!

@lifeisgoodrightnow according to Reddit Edge of Darkness is a Halfeti clone, Fiery Edge is Ombre Nomade, Wild Frontier is Aventus, and no-one knows what Tavolo Verde is supposed to be 😆

Various suggestions online include:

Tavola Verde => Roja Isola Verde
Edge of Darkness => Rabanne Phantom Parfum or Ambre Nomade
Fiery Edge => Dior Fahrenheit or Spice Bomb

Basically the only one everyone agrees on is Wild Frontier!

Thanks !

I immediately thought Fahrenheit when I saw the bottle but it definitely doesn’t smell like that ! But it was very very nice.

i’m still smelling the creed dupe and it’s been 4 hours now since I tested it - so it lasts !

SOTD is BDK Gris Charnel. Weirdly I wasn't keen on this when I got it in the Harrods advent, and passed it on. It may have been my bias against dabbers at play.

Anyway I got a 10ml spray free when I bought Oud Paradiso for my birthday and now I really like it.

OvaHere · 18/06/2026 15:35

I'm also considering layering it with the NR Musc Blanc as I think that could really work.

If you have you doux or Valaya, it goes really well with both of those 😍

Sometimes you get a different effect from dabbers v spray. I get a really different effect from the ds durga rollerballs to the sprays albeit they are oil. But the sprays have a more immediate hit which affects how i perceive it.

I used to be anti dabber but got used to them, handy at work to be more subtle than spraying.

I want some Valaya SO MUCH! I may have to make a Vinted or eBay purchase…

MotherWol · 18/06/2026 20:08

Re: dabbers v atomisers, I find dabbers faffy but the little bottles can be cute, so I use a mini pippette to refill an empty sample atomiser.

SOTD was Miller Harris Tea Tonique, which I'm really enjoying in the humid weather. Goes on a bit Lipton ice tea but settles into an elegant bergamot and black tea.

Got home to find the sample of Abel Double Scoop had arrived; first impressions are it's a very nice and wearable green vanilla. The notes are rosemary, sesame, vanilla, butterscotch - it's not a sweet gourmand, and so far I like it. OTOH it's pricey, and I already have Eau Duelle which is very similar. Also not really into vanillas in summer, as they can lean a bit sticky for my tastes.

Lurkingshark · 18/06/2026 20:32

I tend to overuse dabbers, especially the thin bottle samples. But they do look cute!

BTW any thoughts on the vestaires sampler from YSL? I want to try Muse but probably should wait until I get to a selfridges, rather than be enticed by the freebies online
