Mango Skin for me today. I want to wear my summer, juicy fruit or coconut or citrus this month.

I gave up on Ellis Brooklyn Vanilla Salt, it doesn't turn as burnt plastic as some other vanillas but it's not one I enjoy either.

Gold immortals today. V similar to bromptom immortals but not quite the same. Both lovely. Looking forward to the extrait in the harrods fragvent, when it is released. Next week possibly?

Can I make a request? I usually save Advent Calendars for Advent or even 12 days of Christmas if it's a 12 day calendar. I do look at the contents before buying but then I do my best to forget about them so it's still a nice surprise when I open them.

I know some of you open and start using them immediately on receipt but is there any chance you could not talk about them until the relevant day? I expect that's too much to ask as this isn't a specific advent thread. It's just that if I avoid this thread between now and Christmas, I'm scared I might miss out on news of autumn edits, black Friday deals, etc.

Maybe even a compromise of talking about which perfume you are wearing today but without mentioning "from the XYZ FAC" would help. I don't want to miss out on things but I would prefer not to have all the spoilers. I mean, now is ok because I'm interested in whether you all think certain calendars are good value etc. I'm talking about once they have been dispatched.

Perhaps I should just not get any FACs. I've got lots of perfume already. That would solve my problem.

Sorry but I'm not sure I'm comfortable to have this thread as a no reveal thread, we never have before and it's a long running thread. I personally will want to rip them open and start shouting from the rooftops about how great all the fragrance is - I don't think I will be able to wait until advent.
There aren't many rules on this thread, and I'd feel a bit weird about introducing them. Not that I'm the authority of course but having got to know the vibe of this thread quite well I'm not sure this is in line.

@HolidayHattie oh last year on the Harrods ac opening thread, people were opening the fragrance calendar too. I wanted to be involved in the beauty opening but I wasn't opening the fragrance one on dates 1-12 when they were. Even though they were sharing the order and photos of them, it didn't ruin it. I was still super excited when I was opening mine.

I'm actually planning to open mine (if I get it) for 12 weeks running up to Christmas eve. My dog ended up having emergency surgery in early January and I had to stay home until March time so I didn't get to use the fragrances that much. That's not happening this year 🤣

You're also assuming that we'll all get one. What if we all completely miss them and they sell out before any of us notice? 😱🤣

@HolidayHattie I'm de-lurking to reply and hopefully reassure you. I've bought the Harrods fragrance advent in 2024 and 2025 and both years saved it until I after I finish work for the Christmas/New Year break.*

Honestly, the discussion here takes nothing away from my pleasure of opening and smelling those perfumes. For me, the added bliss of having at least a week off work and taking time to choose which perfume to wear at different Christmas events is so special.

I don't assume that I'll get the Harrods one but I'm sure I'll get at least one FAC. IIRC you put "sensitive" photos last year and I thought that was a really good idea.

I don't use the FAC for advent, but as a way of stocking up. I'm interested to hear what others who do the same think of the contents. That's one of the joys of this thread so I wouldn't want to wait to discuss either

I consistently get joy out of the perfume discussion here, very tolerant to different opinion, always light hearted and helpful.

What do you all think of Mango Skin? I really like it but by lunch time I needed top up. I sprayed tons of Escada Barista Cabana now. Lovely scent but it does have little more refined feel of summer Esada perfume that are very cheap (about 30 euro per 100ml old season). I would have like Mango Skin to last longer, but I do love the scent. I will however take a travel with me on holidays to see if it's better in heat. I don't mind reapplying I guess either.

@HolidayHattie of course you are very welcome to participate if you decide to. We do all tend to post deals here and in the mixed advent as well. If it's Liberty on the liberty thread as well. So you will get the deals if you follow too. But ideally, you would love it here and you won't be able to resist us :)

I really like it! I find citrus can be a bit much but this is just a bit zingy and also sweet. I'm so noseblind that if I can still smell perfume on me 3 hours later it's a win, and this is for beast mode scents, so I don't mind too much if I can't.

SOTD metal lavender - another win from the liberty scent kit. May be their best scent kit yet! now this one does last - the usual quality from Aurelien. Lavender can be a bit full on as a note but this has a lovely dry down.

I saw last night, someone on insta recommended layering Roja Isola Verde and Maison Crivelli Musc Nurasana. So thanks to Harrods, I have these two and decided to try it today 😊

Well, I think I've found one of the most perfect heatwave layering combo today 😍☀️

It's not aquatic or beachy to me at all. Instead, it takes me right back to sitting in a little courtyard in Kos near the oldest tree. White stone buildings, olive trees, rattan furniture, iced coffee in hand, just watching people wander by. You're close enough to know the sea is there, but you can't actually see it.

The combo is green, fresh and clean, which is surprisingly hard to achieve in a heatwave 🤣 The Isola Verde keeps everything leafy and Mediterranean, while Musc Nurasana softens it into this gorgeous clean skin scent.

It's peaceful rather than vibrant, and sophisticated rather than tropical.

Definitely one I'll be reaching for again while these heatwaves last 🌿🤍 I'll probably take it to Malta with me too.

Oh yes, I remember doing that now 🤣 I'm only planning on getting the Harrods this year, last year I ended up with the Harrods, SpaceNk, Harvey Nicks and Parfum de marly. Obviously if I don't manage to get the Harrods one, I'll then compare snk and hn, but I really only want to get one (famous last words 🙈).

Musc Nurusana I really can't make my mind up on. Like all Crivelli Extraits, it's strong. It's not even I can't make my mind up as in every time I spray i'm not sure - one time I like it and the next I don't. overall, not a love but it's ok. MC can be quite polarizing. Not usually with the same person though!

That seems like a complete consensus about the FACs so I'll have to decide what I want to do about it nearer the time.

SOTD today is Tocca Lucia. I did get some of the marine accord early on but it was fleeting. It wasn't quite as light and summery as I was hoping, presumably due to the cedarwood and tobacco. I'm not sure that I can pick out the fig. It's certainly not a ripe and jammy fig. Nice but not perfect for a heatwave.

Sotd Delina Exclusif.
I love Delina. The only 10ml ive finished these last 12 months. I wasnt keen on this initially as very sweet but after around 2 hours it smelt lovely. And fab staying power. Still smells quite strong after 5 hours.

I think it is hard to come on to an established thread and ask for people to change and follow a new protocol. You may have better luck if you start your own thread with ground rules clear from day one?

As others have said, it may not detract from.the joy of cracking open a new scent, but if it is so important to you not to know in advance then you may want to avoid this thread from AC release time which starts soon.

Eccentric Molecules 'Cologne One' - incredible bitter citrus and juniper opening, which then vanished after 2 mins into the usual skin scent. Will probably just liberally spritz myself with this whilst it's v hot then.

The cirtic is very lasting if you like that type of scent and you have the kit. It lasts all day!
