Urgent interview outfit help please!

Out of the blue I am being made redundant. I have managed to bag an interview for a senior role in an education charity. Director job title, working directly to the CEO. Charity does not work in schools and is more vocational education focused.

I have recently lost 8 stone and wasn't expecting to be job hunting so I don't have an interview outfit.

I need opinions please on these outfits. If they're not suitable I need to do an online shop now for delivery tomorrow or Saturday. I have six possibles so I will add 3 here and 3 in another comment:
Option 1: grey dress
Option 2: zig zag skirt
Option 3: snake print dress and lemon jacket

Another vote for zigzag skirt outfit. Smart and fresh.

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 28/05/2026 09:55

The zig zag skirt is nice but I’d order a navy blazer from somewhere like Next or M&S.

I think option 3 looks the best for an interview x Good luck!

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 28/05/2026 09:56

Actually I think the lemon jacket goes well with the zig zag skirt. It’s

DontShoutInMyEarholeTracey · 28/05/2026 09:57

Heavy weight jersey fabric - is ok if weather is cool enough For interview I would choose trouser with blue top and white jacket. Smart and professional.

FairyBatman · 28/05/2026 10:02

The zigzag skirt is the best and looks lovely. The grey dress is lovely but a bit too evening, and not keen on the snake print dress.

I don’t think that the blue trousers are as flattering on you as the skirt / dress options and the cropped jackets are not the right length for the trousers.

Out of the first 3 I like zigzag skirt option the best but all look great for interview. Good luck!!!

Totally agree. Good luck 🤞🏻

FairyBatman · 28/05/2026 10:05

What about the trousers and top from option 7 with the Jacket from option 1?

ThatCosy · 28/05/2026 10:07

Zigzag

stample · 28/05/2026 10:08

Skirt with the blue blouse! Looks summery and fun yet professional. Good luck!

Remindmeofthebabee · 28/05/2026 10:08

Grey dress looks more professional for a senior level role.

Theres something off about the zigzag skirt option, doesn’t look quite put together properly. Would be fine for the office but I think for an interview of that seniority it’s not professional enough. Maybe it’s too busy?

StretchingShantyJugg · 28/05/2026 09:19

Presumably, the CEO will still be wearing a suit, though?

He probably will. OP hasn’t posted any photos of her wearing a suit though.

Busybeemumm · 28/05/2026 10:12

Zig zag skirt. Fun and fits great. Grey dress is close 2nd.

sunhat100 · 28/05/2026 10:13

Grey dress is perfect

Sorry, I quoted the wrong post! That was supposed to be in response to a comment about the grey dress looking odd in spring/summer - my point being that the CEO would likely be in a suit all year round.

Zigzag skirt.

Congratulations on your weight loss 🥰

Yes, I would try those navy wide leg trousers with blue top and the jacket from the zigzag skirt outfit.

AnnaQuayRules · 28/05/2026 10:18

Definitely the grey dress.

Well done on your weight loss

MiddleAgedDread · 28/05/2026 10:19

i think the trousers would be ok for the job but not for an interview, or maybe it's just the photo making them look like jeans?
The grey dress is lovely on you but I don't think it's interview attire, to me it's more an "event" dress.
The zigzag skirt or dress with the jacket are fine IMO.

Ferreting · 28/05/2026 10:19

Think the zigzag is more day trip in the summer vibe. Grey dress with serious jewellery is perfect.

Screechypants · 28/05/2026 10:27

@petitpasta firstly, which do you feel most comfortable and confident in? Is the grey dress too hot/low cut?

Personally I think the grey dress looks the most professional and appropriate for that level of role. Simple and well put together is what you are looking for. It also suits your figure very well.

I think dressing for the weather in an interview isn't really the priority, unless you are going to overheat massively, and it would only look weird if you were going in, in a woolly jumper! The better summery option would be a single colour simple dress, if you are going to shop at all.

None of the trouser outfits look quite smart enough (fine for work though) and the patterned skirt and dress seem a bit busy/jolly for an interview.

Good luck though!

Comtesse · 28/05/2026 10:28

Zigzag skirt is my fave. Good luck for the interview!

Happyjoe · 28/05/2026 10:31

Zigzag, with the top and jacket it looks more in keeping with an interview outfit. The grey is 2nd choice (though more of a nice dinner out outfit), but not snakeskin for an interview, too casual.
Say all this though it is what you feel more confident in. Being confident in an interview is a must!!

Good luck, hope you get the job. Let us know please!

WyrdHag · 28/05/2026 10:32

Cream jacket and pale blue top with zig zag skirt or navy trousers.

And good luck!

DrJump · 28/05/2026 10:39

I really like the zig zag skirt outfit. I think it shows professional but interesting vibes. The female directors and gemera manager at my council all where patterns and colour now. Very different to the grey blue and black suits.that were so common not that long ago.
I also liked the outfit with the pattern shirt and plain jacket.

That being said where what makes you feel the most interview you. Confident, calm, ready you
