Agree with this. The dress and trainers thing was started on sites like boohoo back before Covid I believe. They have stopped doing this now and most of their models wear other footwear/ strappy sandals. Yet people have carried on this weird summer dress/ trainers trend for years afterwards!

Bit other people don't want to see anyone's toes or heels - this one can't be won!

We have to wear closed shoes and relatively modest clothing to work and long dresses and trainers work in summer - sandals invalidate insurance. I suppose dresses could be banned... I like wearing dresses to work though.

My pet peeves are shirtless men/lads, and also those micro shorts/skirts. I went to sit down in a cafe once, and the sweaty bum imprint was still on the seat🤢

I do like linen trousers, and I’m also a fan of summer dresses with trainers🤣

Men on naturist beaches.
Totally naked = absolutely fine
T shirt on top with loose danglies hanging below - looks awful and needs to be banned.

Sort of like an unfortunate Winnie the Pooh? BlushEnvy

Socks n sliders. Bleurgh.

Let’s not have a touch of practical spoil the show! Some people are on their feet all day, even the summer.

There are such things as flat sandals. As far as I’m aware, online shops such as boohoo are no longer promoting the summer dress with trainers look and haven’t been doing for a number of years.

UnintentionalArcher · 25/05/2026 17:24

Those high-waisted cut-off denim shorts that have become fashionable for women in the last five years or so, where the cut-off is right at the top of the thighs and cuts across the bum cheeks. I realise this is oddly specific but I think they’re incredibly unflattering. It’s something to do with how they’re so narrow at the waist yet emphasise and draw attention to the widest point of the thigh and bum, but not in a good way. It’s not to do with how revealing they are - the shape just looks wrong and unfinished to me, like all the material is in the unnecessary part of the shorts (the waist area) and totally lacking in the more necessary part.

I think Lily Allen made it fairly fashionable when she started up, over 20 years ago. She was known for her dresses and trainers back then, and music, obvs!

I think too it's still considered fashionable.

So what? I’m not allowed to wear sandals to work so what am I meant to wear??

I think it’s a trend that has been and gone….yet is still being done to death when I see people out and about on the streets.

Not everything is about being trendy

Wear what you want to wear and just rock it! Sod anyone else.

I've worn dresses and DM type boots for years. Well, until I started to find DM's too uncomfortable.

YES to the lack of shirts just because it's hot! we were at the zoo this weekend and the amount of men walking around in shorts with their tops off - boak. always in nasty cheap sports shorts and tacky trainers too. just keep your t shirt on FFS

Because you’re crapping on about what boohoo do as if they’re the fashion bible? Why are you so bothered by people wearing trainers with dresses?

Then it's not a trend been and gone then is it? People will wear what they like, if enough are doing it then it's trendy by default.

That's like saying jeans and a t-shirt have been done to death. Some things stay around and become staples because they are practical and people like them enough to keep wearing them regardless of what boohoo (whatever that is) tells them is on trend.

God you’re seriously on one! I don’t like that trend anyway. Can’t stand it. Doesn’t mean you can’t wear it! Get a life!!!

phew..it couldnt have been my son...he's not been out today lol...he was out yesterday, thick hoodie with the hood up....we went to the shop and i pretended i wasnt with him...what a wally

We popped into Morrisons on the way back from the beach today. 31 degrees ,went in for beers for the garden . An approx 40 year old bloke propped up against the shop window waiting for someone in black jeans , black sweatshirt and black puffa jacket . Madness !

Wickedlittledancer · 25/05/2026 17:31

I don’t really care what people wear. I only dislike certain parts of the body on display, topless men, women in shorts with their arses hanging out, or too much cleavage,
