Anything artificial fabric in the heat. I can't understand how anyone can stand the feeling. Sweaty, smelly, creasy

Only natural fibres are breathable and sit well in the heat.

I find this is such elitism wrapped up in faux care. You can’t tell

Yuk. I hope she wipes her arse properly after going to the toilet. So unhygienic to parade around like that.

I remember thong, or partway up yer bum cheeks underwear and swimwear etc. the first time around in the mid 80s. As a fifteen year old, I once mistakenly bought a pair of those knicks that only half covered my backside. I remember back then thinking, why would anyone want to wear anything so uncomfortable. They got shoved to the back of the drawer, never to grace my arse again.

properidiot · 25/05/2026 17:11

Men in vests. If they are very hairy and have lots of long underarm hair then that is even worse. Yuk!

I can overlook almost everything, including Crocs, hot pants, or topless people… but linen is just vile. Looks and feels horrible.

Oh no, the feel of well worn linen is super soft. I like it. It does look scruffy though granted!

UnderMirkwood · 25/05/2026 17:12

I don't mind Linen, long flowing dresses, crocs, Birkenstocks or feet that are clean and well groomed. What I really dislike is just too much exposed flesh anywhere other than on the beach or swimming pool. I just want people to cover up their boobs, chest and arse. Nobody wants to see acres of flabby flesh bursting out of clothes that are several sizes too small. It is horrible for those of us having to see it and it really won't make you feel cooler or more comfortable.

TheChosenTwo · 25/05/2026 17:12

Oh I just remembered, i was lying on the sun lounger this afternoon in my bikini and a fucking drone came and hovered over our bloody garden 😂
so if anyone’s moaning about my bikini wearing it’s not because I’ve gone out in public wearing it!
cheeky droner! I waved my fist 🫣

LyndaSnellsSniff · 25/05/2026 17:12

Saw a shirtless man at a National Trust property this afternoon. Everyone was happily sat in their deckchairs listening to jazz, when the shirtless one suddenly wafted through the midst. Quelle horreur.

BeaRightThere · 25/05/2026 16:40

I don't like the shirtless thing either but tbf, it's frequently said on here that women should wear what they like regardless of whether it appeals to the opposite sex or not, so I guess we have to suck this one up as what's good for the goose is good for the gander.

Well yes, but that’s the point- men should be entitled to wear whatever they like (regardless of whether women admire the look or not). Wear being the operative word. Wear something. Anything. 😂

Petrolitis · 25/05/2026 17:14

Agree with shirtless men and arse shorts.

Put it away!

Daftypants · 25/05/2026 17:15

Sorry @PizzaPunk i like my linen trousers 🤣
no one needs to see my varicose veins ( don’t have the £ to get them done ) so I wear cool linen trousers rather than a dress .

Beige or nude “co-ords” especially the skin tight jersey shorts and crop top version. From a distance people look naked , which I guess is the point? But unless someone has a perfect figure they are very unforgiving.

I once saw a young mother pushing a pram naked through the airport.

Of course she wasn't naked when I did an automatic double take, but had very pale beige leggings and a matching skin tight crop top on which were so close to her tanned skin tone it was astonishing.

She was impressively toned especially considering she appeared to be the mother of a baby, but she genuinely looked as though she was walking naked through the airport, pushing a pram. Somehow the fact that she was blond with a hair colour that was very similar to her skin and clothes added to the startling impression.

Linen
flowery midi/maxi dresses
Birkenstocks

I’m currently stuck in hospital since Friday afternoon. Went out for a walk with dd1 around the grounds as it’s the first day I’ve been off an IV drip. Saw two topless male patients with ID bracelets so definitely patients! Both elderly men with huge flabby, white, beer bellies! And a young girl with those shorts described above! Plus they were all what I call milk bottle white (we’re in Ireland so us natives have skin that turns bright red after 10 mins of sunshine). I reckon they’ll have sunstroke to add to their ailments this evening!

Wehaveallgonecrazy · 25/05/2026 17:17

What is the right way to feel? I hear myself think “God, what does she think she looks like?!” but I also believe people should be able to wear what they like and are comfortable in. Which is the real me?

I loathe tattoos, especially on women. They look hideous and we see too much of them in hot weather.

There! Im a reactionary, old fashioned prude.

Floral maxi dresses with white trainers. Only made worse by wearing with a denim jacket.

Agree with this. The dress and trainers thing was started on sites like boohoo back before Covid I believe. They have stopped doing this now and most of their models wear other footwear/ strappy sandals. Yet people have carried on this weird summer dress/ trainers trend for years afterwards!

Nogimachi · 25/05/2026 17:18

My husband made me laugh at Weymouth beach when he said ‘Seems like there are two types of people. “Look at me!” and “I don’t care if you ARE looking at me!”’
I could do without seeing the latter but it wouldn’t quite seem fair to ban them!!!

ineededanewnameitsbeentoolong · 25/05/2026 17:19

Anything that has bumcheeks on full display. Short shorts, miniskirts etc. I don’t want to see your bumcheeks, and i certainly don’t want to sit where you just wiped your bum on the fabric.

Let’s not have a touch of practical spoil the show! Some people are on their feet all day, even the summer.

We had someone doing that a couple years ago, until I turned the hose on it. Not supposed to be recording people in their own gardens as far as I know. Anyway, didn't come back.

Puffer jackets.

I swear I’ve seen two people wearing them today…my car reckons it’s currently 34 degrees.

They were probably Europeans from Italy or Spain! They don’t disrobe unless it’s over 30 degrees Celsius😎

Open toed anything.... even 'nice' feet give me the heebie jellies! Feet are grim, keep your toes to yourself please 😂😂

Exactly what I was coming to say! I don't even like to see my own feet but have caved and taken socks off the last couple of days...DH said he knew it must be really hot then 😂

Nude leggings. Served a customer yesterday and genuinely thought she had nothing on her bottom half as she was approaching 😬

Bertiebiscuit · 25/05/2026 17:21

Arse cheek exposing daisy Duke style cut offs yuck.

It’s practical! I’m allowed to wear trainers to work but not sandals. I’d pick trainers over dolly shoes everyday

Peterdottir · 25/05/2026 17:23

So much hate for linen and sandals! My hot weather wardrobe consists of lots of pairs of loose trousers that do contain linen but also cotton which maybe stops the terrible creasing. I also love wearing sandals but I always make sure I have nail varnish on and my sandals have to have a glam element to them (gold, silver etc) whilst being flat as I am so tall.

I find it funny that lots of older ladies (meaning late 60s and older) will wear 3/4 trousers when it is very hot but the material doesn't look like it is particularly cool. I'm not sure having just a bare ankle keeps you that cool. Usually paired with ugly walking type sandals and unpainted toes. Or maybe I just have an irrational hatred of 3/4 length trousers due to my height!
