Which kind of outfit or particular item are you seeing in the hot weather that you'd like to ban Man or woman.

Shorts that are so short I can see your bum cheeks hanging down. Grim.

Yes especially women who are overweight. Whatever makes them think this is a good look?

XelaM · Today 08:12

Some of these posts as nuts as things like floaty summer dresses, linen and wide-legged trousers always make people look really nice in my view.

Shorts, on the other hand, look awful on pretty much everyone except those with an exceptional figure. They are absolutely never flattering and only look good on people who would look good whatever they wore.

I was wearing a (sports) bra top and shorts early this morning because I was out for a run and it was already 20 degrees at 7am. It wouldn't even cross my mind to give a fuck what anybody else thought?

I envy those with nothing more pressing to worry about than what others are wearing, although I suppose if I'd lost the ability to control my eyeballs and just look in a different direction I'd be a bit concerned.

You weren’t going round Tescos in that though were you? You were wearing an appropriate outfit for a run. This woman was basically wearing a bikini in the supermarket. Context is everything.

I think it’s rare to find people who look after their bodies, give no thought at all to how they look in their sports bra and top. Did you really not chose the colour or style at all? Just picked the first one that fitted because no one cares?

Partywoman · Today 09:01

Tight black leggings and black T-shirts. Or any colour really. Makes no sense in the heat and looks ugly.

So you wore sports clothes to do sport. Good.

Pretty much; I'm a 32G so decent bra choices for running specifically (as opposed to weight training or yoga) are limited to say the least, and I've had this one for years. I chose the shorts because they were cheap and have two side pockets rather than just one, as well as the usual zip pocket for keys - I think they came from Amazon.

I'm not going to suffer in the heat because the sight of my body dressed entirely appropriately for what I'm doing might offend. And @Teakettletrio , I called in Sainsbury's on my way home because I needed a few things (and also to cool off a bit in the chilled aisle), so that depends on how you view it.

I’m in a couple of minds about this thread. If I could, I would ban the young man who goes shirtless and wears a pair of shorts and trainers so his tattooed calves can be seen. Particularly if he wanders around holding a can of lager in the middle of the day. I don’t care if he is in good shape - he looks like he is going to get sun addled then start a fight at 8pm in Aylesbury town centre.

The other look I would ban is when men wear clothes that look sprayed on. I think this may be an influencer thing. The outfit is fine - usually shorts and a short sleeved shirt - but would be so much better two or three sizes bigger. The guy wearing this will usually be in good shape but it still looks uncomfortable.

Having said this, I wonder if a few people on here are generally just grossed out by people in general. People (men but sometimes women) are hairy. They have feet. Some (most?) people are quite fat. Should all these people dress as though their entire being is so loathsome it should be hidden from sight?

Have I? A poster was saying how appalled they were by the sight of a woman who was out in public wearing a sports bra and shorts, and I was doing exactly that yesterday.

Presumaby the suggest was that the woman (and by association me) should have been wearing something else; knowing this board, a jumpsuit and/or a blazer or at least some kind of butt ugly midi dress would have been involved.

What specifically did I miss?

mamaduckbone · Today 09:53

Blokes with massive muscles in tank tops with loads of tattoos. Extra bonus bleurgh for a bit of sunburn thrown in.

that the woman was shopping in Tesco in her sports bra, not out exercising.

Peony1985 · Today 10:00

@SocksAndTheCity The running bit is fine as that’s appropriate clothing ( although I wish runners would stick to sports grounds rather than pavements or roads).
I do think that going into Sainsbury’s afterwards sweaty, in a bra top is a bit grim. No effort to stick on a t shirt, the shop has air con.

Yes! So many flesh-coloured clothes that make you do a double-take! 🤣

But were you really wearing an actual bra in public, or was it a crop top? My sports bras are very obviously bras, and I'd be really embarrassed to wear them in public.

ThatCyanCat · Yesterday 21:56

I think it's not illegal to be naked in public, it's illegal to be doing it in such a way that it's upsetting and offending people. So rude sunbathing in a quiet spot would be ok, flashing would not.

Rude sunbathing! 🤣🤣🤣🤭

Wearing tight, short clothing which exposes flesh when you’re too large for it. Yes I know I’m a judgy bitch and you should be able to wear what you like but please, look in the mirror sometimes. Just because you can wear it doesn’t mean you should wear it. Also nude colour skin colour clothing. I’ve literally done a double take a few times seeing this and wondering if they’re wearing clothes or not. As it’s so similar to their skin colour.

I absolutely love linen clothes, long cotton summer dresses with trainers, basically anything loose and comfortable which still looks feminine and presentable.

I can’t stand the neon boob tube and cycle shorts look, complete with big hoop earrings and sunburn. A look half the women here are sporting right now.

The trend of summer dresses with trainers needs to die, now! IMO it doesn't look all cool and bohemian, it just looks like your feet and body are from two different people! Summer dresses need sandals. That is the law.

🤭

Apparently not!

My late great-aunt, 1910-1984, used to say that so-and-so "Never looked in a mirror!" when she'd see a fright. It became a family saying. "He's never looked in a mirror!" on seeing an uncle's get-up.
