Hot pants that are so short cheeks hang out the bottom. Thong bikinis on the beach make me uncomfortable, your figure is amazing yes, but I don’t want to see your entire arse. And topless men. I don’t care what your physique is, put it away. I think I’ve become so prudish now I’m 40!

I’ll ban judgy bitches commenting on others clothing in ridiculous hot weather 😊

Yes quite. I do wonder what happened in the days when dresses with trainers wasn’t a trend though. Or did people just not used to walk then

I'm nearly 60, we dud a lot of foot damage because of stupidly designed women's shoes. I don't think walking was as much of a thing, the saying "your head will never save your legs" was often quoted around me, growing up. However when I was younger, I could walk in sandals, clogs and when walking the dog etc I'd see women in walking boots. Then there were Docs, Timberland etc. But women did wear pump types, Madonna wore pumps, jelly shoes, ballet flats sneakers started to be a thing. We didn't have the weather we have now, so a lot of women wouldn't have seperate wardrobes. The WC women around me didn't have the clothes we have today. Why reject footwear that supports your feet and that your toes are correctly positioned in?

Not rejecting it. Just my personal taste. I don’t like the trend myself. Never followed it and never will. Can’t imagine anything worse that having my feet sweating in trainers on a very hot day when I can just wear the cooler option of flats or sandals

Do you mean my post before that, or other people's comments? As I am ginger with pale, freckled Irish skin?!!

That said, I don't like seeing people frazzling themselves to a crisp - it looks painful & is dangerous. I've done it myself in the past through carelessness - but seeing people with really pale skin burn themselves willingly makes me wince!

Maybe you do not realise what you are doing. You are talking about people being very offensive and women putting each other down . You then talk about, pale freckled, Celtic skin as it’s some kind of disease.

Topless men. It’s disgusting that women have to cover up but they don’t. Make it the same rule for all.

It’s not actually illegal for women to go topless in public. We just don’t do it because the sexual harassment would be awful. We would probably also be live-streamed somewhere. 😢

Twisterlollies · Yesterday 19:44

I absolutely love linen clothes, long cotton summer dresses with trainers, basically anything loose and comfortable which still looks feminine and presentable.

I can’t stand the neon boob tube and cycle shorts look, complete with big hoop earrings and sunburn. A look half the women here are sporting right now.

BEARDS

how long must we put up with this ubiquitous excrement? *

a good 20 years with no sign of the fashion disappearing. not since the age of Queen Victoria has such odious 'grooming' unceasingly plagued us 🖕🏾

*Excrement, noun

  1. (obsolete) Something which grows out of the body; hair, nails etc.

I've never seen DH without a (short, neatly trimmed) beard. The photos of him without one are decidedly odd. I think it would take me a while to get used to if he shaved it off.

@NameChangeMay2026 - and why would anyone want to refer to a woman as looking like a “cheap tart” of use the term “tarty”. The next thing on the agenda will be victim blaming.

I didn't realise that "tarty" was on the list of verboten words these days.

Maybe you could direct your ire to the PP who just referred to women as "bitches," if you're the word police.

Shorts that are so short I can see your bum cheeks hanging down. Grim.

Agreed. I stood behind a girl on the escalator at our shopping centre. Going up. I have no wish to have her hairy arse cheeks in my face. Trust me, they were black hairs too. Yuk!

But, you can be arrested if someone else is offended, alarmed, or distressed. It's weird the way UK law works, I was talking to a police friend about something similar. Basically there are a number of things (like public toplessness) which are not offences in themselves, but then magically become offences if someone is offended, alarmed, or distressed. Seems to me that something should be illegal or not.

Also, it may not be illegal in the street, but establishments have the right to decide their patrons should be decent and therefore refuse entry to you. So you'd have to cover up for lots of shops, restaurants, theatres, museums etc.

Thank goodness someone else shares my dislike of linen, thought I was alone in the world. Horrible stuff. Reminds me of potatoe sacks.

Not alone. It is detestable and nobody looks good in it. My hatred of linen is legendary.

I HATE linen, too! It creases like hell. My stuck-up exH is convinced that the creases are a sign of being upper-crust because it shows you're - ooh! - wearing linen. I just think it looks like a sign that someone owns neither an iron nor a mirror!
