Women of all ages who seem to advertise service as a wet-nurse . Nobody needs to see all of your boobs. Looking like an aged dairy cow isn’t sexy either. A bit of coverage will actually look nicer as well.

What a truly disgusting and horrible comment to make. Are women even human beings to you? What's wrong with aging? It happens to us all, including you. We pretty much all have breasts, as mammals..
And what is wrong with having bigger boobs? They can't exactly be shrunk at will. Should we all retire to sit in the parlour in long necked blouses and floor length skirts at the age of 35?

Based on this comment, you are choosing to be a nasty (and I dare say inherently misogynistic) person.

Hahaa yes, sorry I meant strong colours rather than bright.

I disagree about black and white going with everything especially in the summer.

Agree. And some people don't suit black or white at all! I don't - white looks fine on me when I have a tan but I don't wear black at all. It annoys me how many shops - particularly the cheaper high street shops - seem to make fairly ok items of summer clothing in three colours - black, olive green and brick red/burgundy/brown. Hideous colours if you have fair skin which a lot of Brits do.

This has nothing to do with size of boobs, but with a mismatch of body and clothing size.
It has also nothing to do with age.
It has everything to do with women of all ages (well, most were between 20 and 40 I would say) wearing barely there triangles bikinis on a playground and having to frequently stuff their boobs back into them, and walk in a very specific way to keep their boobs from falling out .
I own dairy cows, and i like them ;) if you seen an elderly dairy cow walk in for food, their walk is very very similar to the “balance my boobs so they don’t fall out of my too small bikini” walk i’ve seen on playgrounds this weekend. It is quite comical.
Why on earth would you wear this sort of stuff on a playground (not anywhere near the beach).
Your conclusions say more about you than me!

Agree with this. The dress and trainers thing was started on sites like boohoo back before Covid I believe. They have stopped doing this now and most of their models wear other footwear/ strappy sandals. Yet people have carried on this weird summer dress/ trainers trend for years afterwards!

Because if you need to walk a fair distance, not everyone can find summer shoes that are comfortable. There's nothing easier to wear than a midi dress and a pair of trainers/converse/vans etc.
This thread shows that you'd never get a consensus on what looks nice, so best to go with what suits your, budget, lifestyle and taste. I'll never stop wearing dresses and trainers, although I've never wore white, but also co-ords featuring mid width trousers.

I agree, and not everyone can afford to throw away clothes and shoes that are no longer 'on trend' each year.

Typically, summers in the UK are short and cool , and many women don't buy new clothes that are only worn from May- Sept. We have had summers in the UK where it was almost impossible to get out of winter clothes till June.

Many women prefer to invest in clothes that can be worn 8 months of the year, rather than something that might get worn for a few weeks when it's hot.

I know loads of women who say they 'can't be bothered' with summer clothes. So that is why in some people's judgement they are wearing dresses or shoes that are 'dated.

I find it strange that people do not like feet. I see mine in the same way as I do my hands. Both are well moisturised, wearing summer colours and all digits will be out, wearing whatever feels comfortable.

There are some judgemental comments on this thread, but let’s celebrate the warm weather and enjoy it. As long as bum cheeks and other private parts are covered, does it matter? I’ve yet to see perfect, but happy and relaxed is attractive.

They are like 80 quid new, I judge you for paying this much for house slippers

Judge me for wearing fake cheaper brand😂

No no, calling women wet nurses (?) for the audacity of having their boobs more visible in 30+° weather, and calling women "aging dairy cows" says a huge amount about you.

Oh come off it, you can't use phrases like "aged dairy cow", even if you do own some (so what?) and then claim it's nothing to do with age, it's totally ok and anyone who thinks it's horrible is showing themselves up. Don't be so disingenuous.

This thread is peak Mumsnet.

Manky - tick.
And now we have “aged dairy cow”.

Love harem pants and any wide/loose trousers in summer. I would quite like the grapes and peacock feathers too, but it's unlikely 😂.

This thread is hysterical. I, personally, think too tight, too skimpy clothes that show lots of sunburn is not a good look - especially in the full heat of the day. We could take note of how people in hotter countries dress: often looser, natural fibres, sunhat, cover ups, sunglasses...

Well, I haven't run that part past him yet ... so it's pretty unlikely for me too!

I saw a young woman in Aldi yesterday with a bikini on and a very skimpy one . All the blokes were transfixed but I guess that was the idea .

I remember being punished as a child for not coming in from playing out quickly enough by not being allowed to get dressed so had to go shopping in my swimsuit as that’s what I’d been playing out in (it was hot). I can still feel the shame now.

When did calling women skanks, bitches and cheap tarts become acceptable on MN?

Agree (see my earlier comments on both). Both of those comments were derisory & unpleasant.

Yet you were earlier going on about the open mules with the weird heels? It's just a bit of fun here - there's no need to get your knickers in a twist 😂

My knickers remain untwisted. I asked because most people find them fairly inoffensive at worst.

Palazzo pants.

For my own personal health and safety. Was wearing some when working from home (luckily) and tripped on the insides of them whilst walking up the stairs. This resulted in them simultaneously being pulled down and me falling flat on my face against the stairs. Never again.

Long maxi dresses might be similarly perilous.

I guess that’s a rational reason.

That has happened to me in the past - on a few occasions! I remain undeterred in my love of both wide-legged trousers & long maxi dresses ...

I only realised it was a thing for some people a few weeks ago - courtesy of a thread on S&B.

I like my feet & toes! Especially today, as my partner kindly painted them for me* in Chanel Alchimiste, a discontinued bright orange-red metallic polish that used to be my favourite, & which I finally found again (new!) on eBay.

*CCS Swedish Formula Foot Cream - it's miraculous for dry skin on feet - & elbows too.
**He's much better at it than me, & actually quite enjoys doing it!

I was allowed to wear nail varnish on my toes once I was 10 and it was my Dad who painted them for me as he always did my Mum's for her 😊

I've never been to a naturist beach but I hate when my partner winnie the pooh's around the house in just a t shirt so I'll agree with this 😂

Culottes. That length just reminds me of when my son has a growth spurt and needs new pants!

I try to work the loose airy look in the heat. But at the end of the day, I'm still a pasty gingery Celt ...

I was on holiday in New York many years ago, in a hot July. That year, one current fashion that I really loved was gladiator sandals, worn with short wrap/toga-style sleeveless dresses. All the 20- & 30-something women in New York were wearing them & looking fabulous - tanned & cool & effortlessly stylish.

Meanwhile the NY mosquitoes had scented fresh blood in me - so not only was I pale & freckled & sweaty, I also had huge bites all over my legs ...

Next day, as we walked around a packed Guggenheim, a small child very loudly & insistently pointed out my horribly bitten legs to her mother ... I was mortified, & the toga dress went straight back in my suitcase that evening!

Palazzo pants are my go-to choice for hot weather. I was wearing a new pair yesterday that are a bit too long, had my hands full walking up the stairs and was completely pants-less by the time I got to the top. They'd be lethal walking down hands-free!

How sweet! I actually quite enjoy my partner painting my toenails as he's so gentle & painstaking about it - as much if not more so than any beautician. I also quite like seeing a man bowing over my feet ... 😁!!

quirkychick · Yesterday 12:59

@EleanorMc67 I'm pale too and had a similar incident in Brussels with mosquito bites and a sarong skirt - they were all over my arms as well as legs! Loose and airy is definitely more comfortable in the heat - though, I appreciate not everyone likes my harem pants, wide-legged trousers or chunky sandals.
