Which kind of outfit or particular item are you seeing in the hot weather that you'd like to ban Man or woman.

God, she’s going to have sunstroke at that rate. Stupid eejit!

I know @Hollyhobbi

Like I said, it's hard NOT to get burnt sometimes if you're as pale as I am. I've just been in the bath, and discovered a mildly pink patch 1cm x 10cm ish on my outer thigh, where I assume my costume rode up between getting out of the sea and getting dressed, which wasn't a long time at all. However, to deliberately expose your severe sunburn to extreme heat and UV is madness. I hope she's not ill now.

Sandals. They’re absolutely disgusting.

If we all hate the saggy bum cheek shorts, why do people keep wearing them? Who actually likes them?
I too loathe them. I do not wish to see anyone’s arse cheeks in public.
I even saw some sort of Shein/Temu type product which is a fake transfer tattoo thing for your bum cheeks if you are wearing these kind of shorts. It was like a toadstool stern. Made me wonder how Cheryl Tweedy’s big arse cheek tattoo was weathering. Shudder.
Also to add spaghetti strap tops with a grubby bra on show underneath.

They’re worn for the benefit of men. Specifically the sort of men who take their tops off in public. It’s a class identifier. Or rather a no-class identifier. A shitoleth if you will.

I hate the classism of this post, but "shittoleth" is genius.

I only wear mine around the house and garden - don’t want to be judged🤭

They are like 80 quid new, I judge you for paying this much for house slippers

Waitingfordoggo · 25/05/2026 21:44

@ScruffMuffin I can understand people occasionally, accidentally getting a bit burnt (most of us have experienced it at some point or another through being careless or misjudging conditions etc) but I will never understand why a person with sunburn rocks up at the beach the next day and exposes the burnt skin for more torture! I’ve see people do this so many times.

ThatCyanCat · 25/05/2026 21:44

Oh...actually, in most cases I don't actually think the arse cheeks are for men. I think they're really for fashion. Not so much "look at me men, do you think I'm sexy" so much as "look how daring, fashion forward and statement-y I am".

Thong bikini bottoms!
Shirtless men
Unitards/gym shorts so tight may as well be control underwear

ThatWildHedgehog · 25/05/2026 21:47

Those all in one skin tight body suit/playsuit things 🙈 gives me the sweaty camel toe vibes 🫣🫣

HamBap · 25/05/2026 21:49

Men wearing flip flops, with chino shorts and a shirt, vom.
Makes them walk like a big bollocked Charlie Chaplin and look incredibly flat footed. They'd honestly look better bare foot.

Voluptuous overweight women spilling out of strapless tops 'cos they don't want tan lines, though they don't tan anyway they just burn.

I look a state in summer clothes too before anyone starts 😁

Almost all summer clothes are horrible in my opinion. There is nothing suitable for this season that is nearly as elegant as boots with black tights and a swingy faux fur coat. It is a miserable time for style.

Why is “elegant” the default desire? Some people want to look cool and trendy without giving a fuck about elegance 😂

I know, right? I have a little patch of mild sunburn on my thigh, from where my costume shifted slightly. I will take extra care tomorrow. Going out in the midday sun when it's 32° with high UV, and deliberately burning your severe sunburn even more is just batshit.

Maybe she is unable to feel.pain or something. I am pretty sure most of us would be in agony with that.

goingtotown · 25/05/2026 21:52

Those cheap rubber flip flops.

I have to wear medical tights in all weathers otherwise my legs swell and cause other problems even though I am size 12. I also have to have medical inner soles in my shoes/ tennis.
I do wear light weight trousers but sometimes long dresses as they are cooler. Thank you for your comment.

Peony1985 · 25/05/2026 21:54

Topless men is obviously heinous.

My less obvious ban is for block colours not styled properly. Particularly black 3/4 trousers with a lemon vest top (I would ban that shade of yellow altogether actually). Or with pastel pink. No idea why people think black goes with any old top . A basic red vest top with “smart” white shorts. It’s so jarring.

Neutrals with other neutrals, brights with other strong colours. Whew. Thank you.

Oh yes, another one - women wearing heavy, leather looking tall boots in this heat. I feel a heat stroke coming on just looking at that. Any kid of boots - cowboy, Dr martens, huge knee-high affairs - with tiny dresses, shorts etc. Very often, there would also be knee high socks on show. FFS, how are you not hot??? Its 34 degree. These boots must be full of sweat.

A lot of people have to wear Dr Marten type shoes for work and can’t wear sandals.
Cowboy boots are worn in Texas which is very warm.

My feet are actually cooler and more comfortable in cotton socks and leather trainers.

Mousewoman · 25/05/2026 22:04

Judging other people for what they wear. All year round this is not a good look.

Tuesdayschild50 · 25/05/2026 22:08

Men in short shorts and fitted tshirts showing off ripped leg muscles and arms you can tell they're on steroids .. and they're only dropping their kids at school 😂

Babyghirl · 25/05/2026 22:11

Crocs omg they r awful, seeing grown ass men wearing them is just a no.

TearyEyedStoat · 25/05/2026 22:13

Small floral prints.

When did feet start being a thing that people dislike? I'm over 50 and for me it's only in the last 10 years.

I only realised it was a thing for some people a few weeks ago - courtesy of a thread on S&B.

I like my feet & toes! Especially today, as my partner kindly painted them for me* in Chanel Alchimiste, a discontinued bright orange-red metallic polish that used to be my favourite, & which I finally found again (new!) on eBay.

*CCS Swedish Formula Foot Cream - it's miraculous for dry skin on feet - & elbows too.
**He's much better at it than me, & actually quite enjoys doing it!

Hairy male arms. We shave legs; they should either shave those or put a proper shirt on.

Linen trousers and tops.

They suit no-one and always look like a crumpled tissue after a few moments of wear.

I am wearing white wide leg trousers with a loose pale blue linen t.shirt and have had many compliments on both how comfortable and nice I look.
