Which kind of outfit or particular item are you seeing in the hot weather that you'd like to ban Man or woman.

@localnotail ive heard other people saying about this look as well. Just wearing pants to the shop. I make a point of absolutely ignoring these kind of attention/outrage seeking people. Move along please.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 25/05/2026 19:36

Where do your toes go if you have feet shaped like feet instead of forced into bunions? And where is the arch support?

I would ignore it if it wasn't a 14-15 year old girl wearing it. That was really uncomfortable to see, she looked so exposed.

It seems every item of clothing you could possibly wear in summer has been criticised which leaves me wondering what do the mumsnet fashion police think we should be wearing? And that picture of the closed in shoes on this thread are absolutely vile give me a pair of open toed sandals any day.

I think women on the thread are wearing most of the things others on the thread don't like (apart from the near naked ones) and have even said so.

the amount of women’s arses i saw yesterday was disturbing. one women in a mini skirt bent over to her pushchair and he entire bare arse was on display. put.it.away

That’s pretty much every playground around here in the moment. Arse on show, boobs/nipples on show. Get dressed, it looks ridiculous.

GlomOfNit · 25/05/2026 19:52

People (of any age) wearing swimwear/underwear and nothing else, in the supermarket or on the high street. It's utterly trashy and pretty skanky IMO.

I'm still giggling because my autistic son, who has a sensory-seeking thing about exposed skin (you'll suddenly find him stroking your bare leg in summer) broke away from us in the supermarket yesterday to pat a teenage boy's bare stomach. I know he shouldn't be doing this, but sometimes he just breaks loose and does things he's compelled to do. I did say sorry sorry, but inside I was laughing quite loudly.

Ugh, yes! Scrunch bum leggings. Nobody needs to see your bum crack in high definition. I don’t think they look nice on even the most toned bums.

Disagree. I like the high definition arse look.

ainsleysanob · 25/05/2026 19:21

I’d ban capri trousers. Seeing capri trousers irrationally aggravates me.

Well, I've just bought some. I can't wait to wear.

Yeah all of these women obsessing over other women's bodies and them wearing clothes that show off their assets and make them feel confident just screams jealousy tbh

Leave my Birkenstocks alone, they are the most comfortable sandals in the world.

I only wear mine around the house and garden - don’t want to be judged🤭

Any outfit that shows too much flesh : bare chested men and women showing half their arses and tits when not at the beach. It's just too much flesh for me and it makes me sick. Also unkempt feet in sandals ; long yellow toenails 🤢

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 25/05/2026 20:00

I honestly don't mind what people wear, doesn't bother me. But I would like to put posters up everywhere saying 'Have You Checked Your Rear View?'

It is quite astonishing how many people look presentable and attractive from the front, but when you see their back view you can't help but wonder if they actually know what they look like from behind.

Puffer jackets.

I swear I’ve seen two people wearing them today…my car reckons it’s currently 34 degrees.

I saw a woman yesterday wearing a beanie, thick heavy boots and and a giant puffer and I assumed she was mentally unwell and not quite with it, I was actually thinking ought I call someone (who?!) as she’s potentially a danger to herself with the risk of heatstroke, but the baby was fussing and then she got on a bus. But I left feeling quite concerned and uneasy.

Oof, you've just reminded me of a holiday last year. We were walking round the town, and as we were going up a steep path there was a woman sitting on the wall at the side of the road, with her feet kind of draped on the wall, posing for photos which her boyfriend was taking. She wearing a skirt and as we walked up the hill I got a complete eyeful up her skirt (no knickers). Grim.

shuggles · 25/05/2026 20:02

@awfulapril Sunglasses.

There's a certain peurile childishness about wearing sunglasses to try to look like a "cool dude." No one above the age of 10 should be wearing them.

(before someone says... wearing them for medical reasons is different and completely fine).

Why? Cos I'm the warmest mum in the world? Can't blame me given today's heat.

Yeah idk, I think there's always an underlying tone of jealousy when those comments are made. Personally, I don't cut about with my ass out but for those who do, so what. It's their body and their choice. If you don't want to see it, simply look away.

There's women on this thread using words like 'skank' that I've seen on other threads calling others out for internalised misogyny and obviously identifying as a feminist, it's embarrassing.

Daisy Dukes.

I think Daisy Dukes predate this particular style - I always thought of Daisy Dukes as just a generally short pair of denim cut offs.

awfulapril · 25/05/2026 20:02

Protecting your eyes against UV damage is no longer fashionable anymore? Damn, the NHS won't be happy.

They are, but I know the kind of thing that poster means and they aren't Daisy Dukes. Daisy Dukes are daring but they do cover the bum. They're sexier, actually.

GlomOfNit · 25/05/2026 20:13

Well today I was in a small city and bloody hell, it was about 35 degrees. Several posters will have banned what I was wearing - a huge LINEN 'balloon' midi dress that could indeed have also been a tent, a LINEN sort of shrug cardi (better than sunburn), my Teva hiking sandals (they make 'pretty' ones) with quite a lot of hard heel skin on show, and an umbrella for shade. On the other hand, the youths I was passing by in their bikinis and sweaty nylon swim shorts will be feeling really rough tomorrow with their carefully cultivated 2nd degree sunburn.

Always, I used to have socks on in bed as a child. 😂

I always have socks on, but there has also during my whole life been a taboo about people being naked except for socks.

What are they thinking?
