It’s so gorgeous:

For the reception I haven’t decided, but possibly a dress from here:

Ho hum - I’ll have to hit the apps. 😄

(Very sorry, I don’t have a question.)

Well, quite. The rudeness.

tbf I thought the OP was posting a joke post about the most hideous unflattering dress ever conceived

Tocsin · 19/05/2026 14:58

That is my entire motivation, @Augarden

Even the model looks like she wants to kick off over the fact she’s been plonked in something so very very ugly.

Northermcharn · 19/05/2026 16:02

Put that photo as part of your dating app bio (start one if need be). And write you'd like to get married, have chosen the dress. Then let us know what happens!

SlayTheJAway · 19/05/2026 16:06

Ahaha 🤣 my face opening that link!

NewBrightonEel · 19/05/2026 16:13

I don’t like the veil but the dress I kind of like - it’s unique and would be nice for a smaller wedding.

SirChenjins · 19/05/2026 16:15

That screams 'I'm know I'm making a mistake marrying you'

BatchCookBabe · 19/05/2026 16:18

Oh my days, it's absolutely hideous! 😱Sorry @Tocsin

I don't know a single living soul who would be seen dead in this.

It's utterly frightful! 😖

Surely (as has been said by someone on here already) this is a piss-take website! Who would wear this dress - or any of them on the website?! 😂

The woman wearing that dress appears to be 65-70 years old. I don't know anyone in that age group who would wear such a monstrosity. (Or any other age group actually!) It's two grand too! 😱

Its got this weird 1920s Olive Oyl/Mary Poppins/ haunted peg doll aesthetic
Which is quite a specific theme for a wedding, that is starting to grow on me

And as for the toddler style dress - absolute Grayson Perry fetish outfit, ugh

A painted face of a doll

Wooden peg doll sells for record £3,000 at auction in Melbourne

The 19th Century collectable went under the hammer at an auction house in Derbyshire.

Edited

I'm 67 and there are loads of things on the website which I'd wear.

One or two performative responses on here, methinks. Cards on table, I would decline the pantaloons, the frilly mini and probably the smocked sleeve dress too. In fact in the highly unlikely event of my ever needing another wedding dress, I would actually want a suit like the one my great aunt wore when she got married in around 1915. (Incidentally I have never seen anyone smile in early twentieth century photos, including weddings, and I assume they all had a perfectly good time.)

But some of the other outfits look beautiful to me and not in the least outlandish. I love the shape and the severity of the dress the op has linked, although I fear for the feathers once the champagne's cracked open.

To whom it may concern, I'm age 69 3/4.

I love Magda Butrym - she’s my fave !!!!

MorganaLeFey · 19/05/2026 17:36

I thought that was Teresa May at first glance.

ThatJadeLion · 19/05/2026 18:33

Only on Mumsnet!!

Floisme · 19/05/2026 18:41

For genuinely hideous wedding dresses, I recommend the 1980s.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 19/05/2026 18:48

And this takes me back to Karen Wood's 9th Birthday party where Deborah Singer came dressed as Pierrot and threw up green jelly 'grass' following a rather animated game of musical bumps to Bad Manners' version of the Can-Can.

Tocsin · 19/05/2026 18:50

Oh wow, @Floisme - have you started planning your Birthday Outfit?? And identified a suitably grand vintage shop in which to hold your party? Will there be hats? Surely the dress code on your invitations will be epic. I insist you curate a thread of celebration costume photos for S&B.😄

This is so exciting. I long for your response to the first unwise poster who dismisses something palpably nasty with Only someone over 70 would wear that!

Have I misremembered, or did they have to hold the pose rather too long for smiling to be wise?

ExtraOnions · 19/05/2026 19:14

Are these dresses for Brides who like to dress as little girls… and the Grooms that like them that way. It would be a very a swift hard-drive search for anyone who ordered one. Odd

PsychoHotSauce · 19/05/2026 08:57

It reminded me of this from Insidious... Actually if it came in black it would be great for those who have a flair for the dramatic entrance at funerals.

I would get married in this dress if I was up for getting married again (it would be to DH and he would love me in that frock) Grin

I believe it was partly that and partly because no-one wanted to show off their teeth then.

That's ridiculous.

Ha, not yet! Maybe I should start a 'What shall I wear...?' thread....
