What should I wear to a black tie celebrity wedding?

A friend is getting married in NYC later this year. The dress code is black tie. The venue has not been disclosed and will not be disclosed until the day of the event to avoid media attention as they are within the celebrity sphere (I know them through family and am very much not from this world)
Any advice on something suitably glamorous given there may be a few A listers present and I don’t want to look out of place? I’m 5’7, size 8-10. Budget not really an issue

Hey op are you going to say who the celebrity is?

You will have to look out for any photos of any celeb weddings for the rest of the year, & see if you recognise anybody in one of the dresses from this threadGrin

Zimmerman has some cute stuff that might fit the bill?

I don't think that's quite true? It's more relaxed at other red-carpet events - but Cannes was notorious until quite recently for its requirement that women wore heels! And they recently reinforced their dress rules, including a nudity/near-nude clothing ban (the sort of thing that Kanye West's wife, Bianca Censori, wore to the Grammys).

It's true according to the male/female celebrity couple I talked to 🤷🏼‍♀️ And they're going this year so that's what I'm basing my contribution on.

I can’t in advance! I probably can afterwards though.
This is all super helpful context, thanks all. I’m going to try some of these brands suggested here (VB for example) on in person and see

I attended a New York Summer wedding a long time ago. Not a celebrity do but quite upscale. I was used to Summer Weddings here where florals and pastels with hats were the norm. I was a little out of place as 90% of the Women were in black elegant evening dresses and I was in a shimmering pastel pink number. Stood out like a sore thumb but was excused as the British guest. The ceremony was early in the day but the reception didn't start until the evening. So alot of guests went somewhere to change. Have never forgot it!

Go with Solace London. Perfect for NY glitz! Dress up with social jewellery.

Made me think of Janelle Monae ...!!

I cannot imagine that dress being suitable for a wedding. Any wedding, let alone a NY black-tie celeb affair ...

The teal backless halter dress is perfect. Team it with pointy black or gold shoes and bag and a dark short, rabbit fur or faux fur cape.

Given its black tie I think it needs to be long. Generally I prefer unfussy clothing, no frills or significant patterns, in jewel colours or deep blue/black (black may not be right for a wedding though). Happy to stand out for being stylish but not for showing huge volumes of cleavage or leg

I would head to Harvey Nicks. They have the best choice of dresses from all the different designers. I bought my MOB dress there.
