I’ve been using Nars radiant longwear for 6 years now & although I like it I’m fancying a change but don’t really know what other good foundations are out there.

Does anyone recommend any particular ones that is similar to Nars? (I’ve used EL double wear before so not that one)

Thanks

Best makeup I’ve ever used

MissIonX · 16/04/2026 11:20

Has anyone tried the Armani foundation? I'm currently using the Lisa Eldridge which I like but I have a work event where we will have photographs and videography taken and I'd like something with more coverage/ blurring. Like the sound of the victoria Beckham, What's the coverage like?

PinkStarJumps · 16/04/2026 11:23

I have just started using the M Asam magic foundation and it is lovely. Soft, mousse texture and it adjusts to your skin tone. I love it. Available amazon or qvc

NorthFacingGardener · 16/04/2026 11:26

I like Nars tinted moisturiser (it is definitely a foundation despite the name).

In the day I wear bare minerals complexion rescue (more sheer and glowy).

I was convinced by mumsnet to try the Erborian CC but it was extremely orange on me.

Can I ask how does the colour match work if there's only a few shades to work from? I'm very pale but with pinky undertones so normally have to go to mac or somewhere with lots of colour choices to find the right match.

Having been a firm lover in Nars long wear/Armani Luminous and also routinely using Erborian Cc cream when I’m having a lighter day, I wanted to offer another alternative that I adore and hasn’t yet been mentioned -

Natasha Denoa HY-Glam foundation.

Sits really well for a base!

PistachioTiramisu · 16/04/2026 11:58

For an 'every day' kind of foundation, I have been using Clinque Super Balanced for years. It's not desperately expensive and gives medium coverage - lots of shades.

wishingonastar101 · 16/04/2026 12:00

The Ordinary do a serum range which I like on my slightly dry skin... also super cheap so you can try a few colours without committing.

Where would one go for samples of these? Are they in department stores?

You could try it in store - but I found it was like water and not nearly enough coverage for me

somanychristmaslights · 16/04/2026 15:44

I think you have to find what works for you. Your skincare etc all plays a part. Go to somewhere like Sephora or SpaceNK and they can help you find one that works for you.

Dior Forever

I love MAC studio fix fluid. Always used to have trouble with foundation, it made my skin dry. But not had a problem with MAC, it's worth the hefty price tag.

BreezyMintHiker · 16/04/2026 17:34

Erborian BB cream and if you want a bit more coverage, their BB plus foundation.

GreenhampsterAndEggs · 16/04/2026 18:04

Odylique. Not cheap, but great if you have sensitive or problem skin at all. I have the SPF one (cream). I have to get two shades, as they don't have one that matches exactly, then mix them as I apply, normally lighter first, then apply the darker shade until I get it just right. Hides my rosacea perfectly.

And they do samples.

Armani Liquid Silk - easy to build up, feels light and gives great coverage

Secretbrumbride · 16/04/2026 18:14

Another vote for Erborian, but i use the BB cream. Added bonus is that is contains 25spf.

Madmeerkat · 16/04/2026 18:15

Clarins double serum foundation!!!! It’s my absolute favourite! coverage is medium to full, leaves the skin glowy all day (I have multiple people commenting on my skin every single time I wear it!) smells lovely. Expensive but watch out for it selling at £39 periodically at boots

Haus labs- amazing for medium coverage
i don’t personally like the new Estée Lauder double wear but if you want full
coverage it needs two layers now (apparently)

Sorry I mean the BB cream, not the CC cream. Misread the OP. I found the CC difficult to blend. I’m quite pale and found the BB in nude perfect, as my usual foundation is fine on my face but too dark where it joins my neck. The good thing with Erborian is that you can order a product and get three free samples of other products of your choice. You can also send back unopened products free of charge. I ordered a full size in clair, thinking it was the best one for me, plus a sample in nude and clair and another product sample, can’t recall which. Tried both the samples, loved the nude so sent back the full size clair and swapped for a full size nude.

Madeinsomerset · 16/04/2026 18:45

Hi Tinks15, don’t know how old you are but I am late 50s and have found the Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser blurred matte to be perfect. Looks quite natural, not too heavy and leaves a gentle glow. I don’t like wearing heavy foundation these days and prefer creme based products rather than powders so also use a cream blusher on top. The VB foundation drops are lovely, but I save for special occasions rather than every day, hope this helps and happy makeup shopping 💄

JuniperKeats · 16/04/2026 18:50

Dycypher. Matches to your complexion

Chocaholick · 16/04/2026 18:51

No7 Hydroluminous. Not too expensive, really lovely creamy consistency and makes me look really glowy with medium coverage. Doesn’t make me break out either.

Yogi1977 · 16/04/2026 18:54

I’ve loved Nars and Armani over the years but I always comeback to Mac Face & Body. It’s water based and gives a lovely light finish but easily buildable and never goes cakey. Go to any MAC desk and they will sort the right shade for you.

Donsyb · 16/04/2026 19:16

I use the Nars tinted moisturiser or Tropic CC cream for lighter days, and Tropic Liquid Radiance foundation for heavier coverage. All have SPF in them. I love all 3. Tried Erborian but didn’t like it on my skin.

Daftypants · 16/04/2026 19:57

Shiseido synchro skin radiant lifting is amazing.
it seems to blur , cover , still look natural and radiant .
Not as many colours as other foundations though , they do have lots of very fair to fair shades .
Estée Lauder futurist hydra rescue good too

Pitstopperils · 16/04/2026 20:10

A lot depends on your skin type & what sort of coverage you want. I don't like anything too heavy (more of a I'm having a really good skin day finish). Sometimes I use Lisa Eldridge Seamless Skin Enhancing Tint, but mostly Purito Seoul Wonder Releaf BB cream , available from Yesstyle & Stylevana. Super cheap but works well. Missha Choboyang is another good BB cream.
