Co-ord or Pyjamas?

SurreyisSunny · 14/04/2026 20:19

I love the look of co-ords it seems everyone on social media is wearing on holiday and in the summer. I tried a couple on in M&S and I looked like I was wearing expensive pyjamas.

What do you all think about this trend? Do I just embrace the pyjamas look and go for it?

I may be super behind trends, but can I ask what a "co-ord" is?

Steelworks · 14/04/2026 20:25

@exhaustDAD Matching top and trousers or shorts in the same material.

I’d look like I was wearing pyjamas as well.

HolidayPlanningAgain · 14/04/2026 20:28

I’ve tried a few and I can’t get over the pj vibe, found a really cute one almost convinced myself and then my DH fell about laughing that I was planning on wearing pjs to go for dinner on holiday 🙈

SurreyisSunny · 14/04/2026 22:12

@HolidayPlanningAgain this made me chuckle, I feel I’d get a similar reaction while thinking I was looking on trend!

I’m not sure but whenever I see co-ord I still get the giggles about a Tu review for a co-ord set.

You could buy the items separately and a review of the co-ord trousers from someone who had obviously bought online was very cross that they weren’t corduroy as described. 😆

he is always honest.. and to be fair to him he does have a much better eye for fashion and what suits me than I do! And he saw how much I loved it that he went and found a top to go with the bottoms and an option to go with the top (before I get all the LTB comments) 🙈😂

I went to Vietnam 20yrs ago and remember all the women wearing matching trousers and tops. They all looked like they were wearing PJ’s.

This set from Me & Em is definitely not pyjama-y, also in a coral colour that is lovely. Just £££! https://www.meandem.com/blouse-short-co-ord-ganache-brown

but it is to me.. some people like the look, some think it looks like pyjamas… each to their own

To me that fits the exact definition of pyjama-esque!
Anything that’s casual looking, matching colour and fabric top and bottoms looks very much like pjs.
im not on board with co-ords, they always look like nightwear to me.

hahabahbag · 14/04/2026 23:20

They usually look like pyjamas to me, or failing that jogging suits from yesterday, not a good look imho but we don’t have to blindly follow fashion thank goodness

mediummumma · 14/04/2026 23:21

I got a few sets last summer and my DH tasted me mercilessly that I was wearing pjs. But as soon as we hit the airport for our summer holiday so many people were wearing similar outfits I felt vindicated! Go for it OP, I love a good co-ord!

Gymnopedie · 15/04/2026 02:59

Yes, and most of them also look like they're wearing their pyjamas. (Grumpy!)

EdinaTheConfessor · 15/04/2026 03:04

If you ever watch Trinny in closet confessions, she often wears actual (very expensive designer silk) pyjamas as a co-ord. it’s all about styling I suppose but she pulls it off. I would very much look like I was wearing my PJs.

minnowonthesay · 15/04/2026 06:00

Shoes, jewellery and a bag help to lose the PJ vibes! When you’re trying them on without any of those they can look like pyjamas.

Amiacoolorwarmcolour · 15/04/2026 06:02

They all look like pyjamas. It was a look last year. I’m surprised the fashion conscious arts still going with this look.
Having said that, if you want comfort and ease then do it.

JulietteHasAGun · 15/04/2026 06:35

Cackle · 15/04/2026 02:31

No one will know if you do want to wear them during the day

Apart from anyone who has them as pjs 😆

kinkytoes · 15/04/2026 06:39

So co-ords are the modern take on track suits?

It's nothing new then!

Tiddlywinkly · 15/04/2026 07:32

I like the look, but I stick to block colours rather than stripes and gingham. I think they look too pj-like personally.

Andi Oliver on GBM wears a lot of what I thought were pyjamas, but clearly they must be co-ords.

I think I'll give this trend a miss.

yes like when my younger 2 wear Stitch pyjama top instead of the 1000 T-shirts they have? easily spotted 😳

Gardenquestion22 · 15/04/2026 07:40

I bought some in H&M, DH just looked up and said ‘why have you got your jammies on, we’re due out in 5 minutes, aren’t you coming?’….it doesn’t appear to be a look I can pull off…
