Co-ord or Pyjamas?

SurreyisSunny · 14/04/2026 20:19

I love the look of co-ords it seems everyone on social media is wearing on holiday and in the summer. I tried a couple on in M&S and I looked like I was wearing expensive pyjamas.

What do you all think about this trend? Do I just embrace the pyjamas look and go for it?

I've never seen anyone in co-ords who doesn't look like they're wearing pyjamas tbh.

LoveWine123 · 15/04/2026 14:38

I was trying on a lovely linen co-ord in Zara today. Bloody comfortable! And my first thought when I had it fully on was that it looked like I was wearing pyjamas. I think if you are tall and skinny you could potentially pull it off with lots of accessories, but I will be wearing mine exclusively to and from the beach and in my house so I'm comfortable. I can't pull this off in normal day to day life...

100% agree.

I’m sure they’re very comfy and people can wear whatever they want.

But they do look exactly like pyjamas.

Personally I’d rather wear “ageing” styles that I like than feel and look as if I’m wearing pyjamas 🤷‍♀️

I don’t even like wearing pyjamas around the house on a lazy day though so I’m def not the target market here 😂

I think the ones with a beautiful embroidered non-shirt style top or non trouser bottoms don’t look pyjama-y. Think Farm Rio.

But a plain matching shirt or t shirt style top and bottoms, or anything stripy, is definitely going to say PJs.

I've got my eye on this set for my upcoming holiday - I'll probably wear them to the pool and the beach, maybe lunch, but I don't think they look at all like pyjamas (although you might all tell me I'm wrong 😅) :

These definitely don't look like pyjamas because the shorts are tailored. I love @JulietteHasAGun 's actual pyjamas as well and think on holiday abroad you are very unlikely to see someone that knows they are pyjamas from Sainsbury's.

I think generally they do look like pyjamas but with sandals, jewellery and a bag they are cute and trendyand a damn sight more wearable than a lot of fashions.

Conversely, I recently bought some lovely PHs from M&S and did debate myself whether I could get away with wearing them as a co-ord because I love them so much. 😂

I love these. Very tempted.

ThatWaryLimePeer · 15/04/2026 18:04

Wearing the top half undone with a top underneath and some accessories helps.

Why are these husbands getting to decide what posters want to wear?! Can we please stop making men the arbiters of what we are comfortable in, what we enjoy the look, feel or even idea of! I wish people were a bit braver with what they wear.

Works both ways, if my husband was intending wearing something resembling pjs for a night out I’d comment too.

Trumpton · 15/04/2026 19:40

I have these amazing Libert pyjamas that were a special treat. I am thinking I could take them on holiday and wear them as co-ords.

Co-ord or Pyjamas?
bridgetreilly · 15/04/2026 20:02

I have yet to see anyone in co-ords who doesn’t look like they are wearing pyjamas. I like pyjamas, but I think this is a truly terrible fashion trend that will look very dated very quickly.

I have these. I don't think they look like pyjamas.

Those look gorgeous, sophisticated, and suitable for amore formal event whereas most co-ords are cute and casual. And you're right, nobody would think they were pyjamas.

henlake7 · 15/04/2026 21:36

I don't mind the pajamas style ones. Speaking as someone who regularly sees people in the high st in their actual pajamas (and I mean old, worn, manky ones) the co ords are nice.
The gorgeous floaty silk ones look gorgeous with some posh sandals, vest and jewellery.

Not a fan of the athleisure co ords though. They either seem to look institutional or like a spa employee.

awfulapril · 15/04/2026 21:36

I agree, they look like pyjamas

Oh chill out. It's funny. Men are more likely to laugh at this stuff (fashion trends) as they less subject to it. They can lampoon it because it's daft. Yes they look like PJs. No it doesn't matter.

babyproblems · 15/04/2026 22:59

They definitely all look like pyjamas yes.
Ive not seen a co-ord that doesn’t. They are ok to wear on a relaxed / warm holiday imo; I can’t really see anywhere else where wearing one would be chic or well dressed.

If you want something smarter, you could try a tailored short and shirt / jacket. I suppose that’s a co ord but a different sort

TragicMuse · 15/04/2026 23:36

I’ve been saying the same for years. They all looks like pyjamas or track-suits.

Moaning5 · 15/04/2026 23:53

I’m delighted !

I love PJs and being comfortable and don’t care what people think, especially on holiday !
I’m finally on trend.

I bought them for work on hot days.
