Loewe ballet runners or Hogan HiFis for jeans and wide legs?

I am a relatively new convert to Loewe and think my almost navy Puzzle bag is possibly one of the nicest I’ve ever owned. I am looking at the Loewe ballet runners which look gorgeous but I’ve also had my head turned by the Hogan HiFis in a similar colour way.

They are mostly to wear with jeans or wide leg trousers. I’ve just bought a gorgeous Veronica Beard Dicky Jacket and matching wide leg trousers in navy linen (not the high crease type) for Summer which is also the sort of thing I would wear trainers with. I’ve dropped from a size 20 to a size 12 over the past couple of years and I am loving building my new wardrobe of high quality timeless pieces.

Am I just a fool with a big budget? I also love my Addidas Spetzials which I have in 6 colours but at 52 I’m looking for something a bit more refined rather than matching with my teenagers. I haven’t ruled out getting the ballet runners and also getting the Hogans in the blue colourway, but since they are different heights it will be difficult to mix and match without tailoring my trousers to somewhere in the middle.

The thoughts of the style icons of MN would be greatly appreciated.

Gosh, I didn’t realise this had kicked off. I could have had such fun last weekend responding to goady comments.

Anyway, update: I ordered the Hogans but I didn’t like them so they are going back. I haven’t decided on trainers yet but while pondering I did buy these which I love:

That’s it for F&B for now.

I like those! Does your foot stay in securely?

I bought my Hogan's at a really nice little store in Amsterdam that had an amazing trainer selection, including some brands I've never seen before. Attaching a link in case you want a browse

I was very tempted by these, but they didn't have my size in stock

$890 for ONE pr of shoes?? Unless custom orthotic I wouldnt pay that for even the finest leather boots let alone some nylon joggers w a big goofy Laverne style Sscript L splashed across them. $890! But that is steep for me to spend on my whole wardrobe annually which may be low for some. These are errand running jogger tennies. For that I wear anything, and for actual working out Karhu synchron brand new on ebay free ship $18 (no digit forgotten, $18)
Great on the weight loss! Def treat yourself to some new pretty outfits but $890 single pr of shoes isnt a treat...sorry but its a ridiculous waste of money😕

You're not the one paying it so it doesn't matter what you would or wouldn't purchase. The OP can clearly afford it and is happy to spend that amount of money so it's not an issue.

Thanks for the backup @StrawberryWasp @Dragonscaledaisy and others. I’m clearly shopping on a different level to @corblimeyguvnrand others.

Just done a quick tally in my dressing room - 9 pairs of Jimmy Choos, 5 pairs pairs of Louboutains, 1 pair each of Gucci, Valentino, Loewe, Acquazzura, Gina and Todds. Plus a dozen or so pairs from LK Bennett and Russell & Bromley. Then there’s my 6 pairs of Adidas, a couple of pairs of Axel Arigato trainers plus a few pairs of Uggs and Birkenstocks to chuck on for winter / summer school runs.

Jimmy Choos are my preferred shoe as I find them the most comfortable. I have the Romy 65s and 85s in various colours and wear the 65s in black suede and navy suede regularly for work, although I am tending to prefer a block heel or a loafer nowadays.

My daughter has inherited my love of shoes and is getting her first pair of Louboutains for her 16th birthday.

I won’t get started on my handbag collection as that will really upset the masses.

MN is definitely not the place to discuss luxury goods - as you would expect from the demographic. Join us on the Purse Forum for all things luxury. 😁

The Loewe Flows are a very heavy (in weight) shoe. Hogans are extremely comfortable. So I’d go for the Hogans

Upset the masses? What an odd thing to say. It's your money so spend it as you choose. You came to the forum though asking if you were a fool. You obviously feel though that you are superior to " the masses" 😂 with this pathetic clapback. It shows that you indeed buy for logo and perceived status.

Well well....the OP has definitely hit a raw nerve. 😂

Out of curiosity, I just put my Loewe flows and my Hogans on the kitchen scale. The Loewes are 7grams heavier than the Hogan 86ers, so no material difference in weight.

My family seems to think I've lost my mind 😂

Quite the opposite😂 you really didn't understand did you? Anyway enjoy your shoes . ☺️

5 pairs pairs of Louboutains not Louboutins, are you sure they're genuine?

I remember years ago someone not very fashion-savvy was telling me that the shoes to wear were Johnny shoes. I said I'd never heard of them.
They were Jimmy Choos! Smile
