Suitable for April Wedding

Do you think this would work for an April wedding?
Most of my dresses are either work type, winter (lots of grey and black) or very summery and would need me to buy some kind of jacket
I don’t normally wear jackets - I’m a coat and cardigan person
I’m 61 5’4” size 16

Is it very short? It looked like a top initially to me. I wouldn’t really consider it wedding attire.

7238SM · 14/03/2026 23:18

Do you have a pic of you wearing? Without your face in view?

I agree, it looks very short and from the pic, like a stretchy, nylon. Not something I'd consider suitable for a wedding IMO. 😬

Mykneesareshot · 14/03/2026 23:31

No for a wedding at any time of the year.

Gettingbysomehow · 14/03/2026 23:57

Definitely not.

PeonyPatch · 15/03/2026 00:18

Got to be rage bait post surely. How is that in any way suitable wedding attire?

Bigearringsbigsmile · 15/03/2026 00:20

Under no circumstances.

I dontvthink it should be worn anywhere tbh

Divebar2021 · 15/03/2026 00:25

I’m not a fan of the dress. I don’t especially think people should buy new outfits for every occasion they go to however “occasion “dresses are pretty easy to pick up second hand on Vinted / charity shops so I’d have a look for something that will serve you for another occasion. I think you could find something more stylish for under £20.

mumofoneAloneandwell · 15/03/2026 00:25

I dont think so girl x

Eggybreadwithnuts · 15/03/2026 00:26

Errr not for a wedding, too short, too garish

saminamama · 15/03/2026 02:20

No sorry

HortiGal · 15/03/2026 02:23

No, no idea where this would ever be worn.

JaceLancs · 15/03/2026 06:14

Ok thanks everyone! It’s a conclusive no from everyone

@JaceLancs summer holiday dress with sandals I would prob wear

Catcatcatcatcat · 15/03/2026 08:00

I’m your age and height, and there is no way I would wear that.

Can you post some other dresses you like? I’m thinking you don’t want the Phase Eight wedding guest vibe. Have you looked at Monsoon? Might be “different” enough for you?

Wildgoat · 15/03/2026 08:01

You can’t have been serious op?

TheFarriersDaughter · 15/03/2026 08:20

Amongst one of my friendship groups dungarees and nylon bomber jackets would be perfectly normal and acceptable wedding guest wear - so your dress might fit in well. But only you know the milieu of the wedding you’re invited to; if everyone else is dressed in Phase Eight and a fascinator you’d feel horribly under dressed.

As to your other clothes - I tend to think a jacket and dress combination is usually nasty. So I would discourage such a venture. What are your summer dresses like - and would it be impossible to wear one of them with a coat slung over your shoulders just in transit? It’s not as if the dress you suggested would be hugely warm, anyway?

A jacket and dress is nasty? What an odd thing to think of write, there are so many styles of jackets and dresses,

TheFarriersDaughter · 15/03/2026 09:28

Indeed! And now we have both expressed our opinions.

Isn’t technology wonderful?

Parsleyforme · 15/03/2026 09:35

Sorry I don’t think it’s smart enough for a wedding. I think you can get away with a nice cardi over the right dress. Maybe you could post some options and people will be able to suggest what type of cardi will go?

JaceLancs · 15/03/2026 21:24

Hi everyone - I’m really enjoying hearing your opinions - I would not have considered it myself for wedding - but wore it for a meal out and 2 people said how lovely it was and it would be fab for wedding! It’s not stretchy at all and on me is knee length but anyway……
I have loads of options but more worried about jacket or cardigan as likely to be chilly - I do not suit most jackets as the shoulders unless raglan sleeves make me look boxy
I’ve recently lost 3 stone so some of these may need alterations
The cerise pink lace is lovely on and would be even better if it fitted but what could I wear with it?
I think the grey option is a bit drab
The cream floral is nice but I’m struggling to find something to go with it

Yes that's lovely, can you wear some heels maybe in a matching colour?

TheFarriersDaughter · 15/03/2026 22:07

I am 64, a size 10/12 and 5’3, @JaceLancs. I cannot imagine owning, let alone leaving the house in any of the subsequent outfits you’ve posted. To me they are either horribly dated, or just crumpled holiday wear.

The grey looks best, but not with the floral thing over it. The rest need burning.

You’ve lost 3 stone - you deserve some beautiful, new, contemporary clothes.

This site is good for showing a selection of current clothes at every price point. You could spend some time simply browsing and looking at shapes and proportions - bearing in mind your own new shape. I’m sure you could find something, or at least a brand worth seeking out.

OhDear111 · 15/03/2026 22:14

I agree. The far right pic is just about ok but they don’t look like wedding clothes. All look short. I’d suggest maybe a light oink dress with the pink cardi. However if it’s too big, get something that fits.
