Currently swooning over most things in ME+EM. Why oh why does it have to be so nice but soooo expensive

ive been to the store in Manchester and do have a couple of items but I could literally buy so much more if only I could afford it

does anyone have any cheaper alternative that are just a gorgeous?

I absolutely love Me+Em and am of average height (5'4''). Their materials feel so luxurious compared to anything else on the high street. I'm in my late twenties and have a corporate London job; their dresses and blouses are perfectly suited to office wear without being too formal like the Fold. I have a few of their more casual / less corporate dresses which are also my favourite things to wear to parties. It sounds like I'm a shill for them, but honestly, I just haven't found another brand I like as much.

Agree that they run large. I'm a 6/8 and always take a 6 in their clothes. Also agree that they're so expensive full price: I usually wait for the sales but have a blazer and belt full price which are some of my most worn items of clothing.

We are sometimes our biggest enemies, clothes are meant to make us feel good, empower us, regardless of the cost. Pulling each other down this way only holds us all back.

I am and will always be a womans champion - we have enough hurdles to jump out there without tripping each other up.

Today I’m going to pop into the Edinburgh store (always lovely friendly staff btw) to see what’s new - though this is dangerous I admit!

I’m wearing a recent purchase which was a splurge but it’s unique and I’ll wear it for years - a really neat-fitting houndstooth bomber jacket which looks fab with dark wide jeans and will also work really well with plain dresses. Also a coat over the top because it’s 0 degrees here 😆.

I’m 5 ft 6 with small boobs and the dresses are well above the ankle on me. In fact I have a dress from last year and I’m finding it a bit midi esque.

They are long but I wear with chunky trainers to work. 45mm is enough.

I'm really looking forward to their new Bath shop opening soon (late Spring). I've always had to order 2 sizes to check fits. Will much prefer to be able to try before buying! I've still got a sweatshirt from pre-covid that looks as good now as when it was new. I do find their cut to be generous in the waist but not so much in the boob area.

Ok dress has arrived - from the front it is absolutely stunning. The neckline & the sleeve are Devine and so flattering

cards on the table I am 5ft 1 and a size 18. The length grazes my ankle. From the back my arse looks massive, but my arse is massive let’s not be delusional.

so at the moment I’m swinging towards keeping it but will have a think about it over the weekend. My husband says no one talks to your backside they talk to your front and that’s the nicest bit 🤣

Can we see a pic without face, or would that be too intrusive we can then say yes, or a no?

I’ll have a think, I’m just in the middle and f dealing with the children’s dinner etc so it will be later if I decide to take a pic

I love that dress op. I have it in white and it’s lovely and cool in the summer. I think you might need a smaller size though. The boob area looks a bit gapey. I would exchange for a smaller size and see how you get on. I follow ‘scotsstyleeditor’ on instagram and she has this dress. She’s a size 14 I think and she has styled it really nicely. If you check out her IG posts on 21st Feb you can see how she wears it and I think it should be a bit tighter than the size you have. Gorgeous dress!

I agree, the waist is way too low and not tight enough, I’ve got an hourglass figure so defining waist for me is a must

I agree with a PP that the knotted bit at the front should be a bit higher up which you might get with a size smaller. I think they do free exchanges …?

It! might be an optical illusion but is it a bit loose over the bust? You seem to have more material where the chest meets the sleeve than on the model. But that might just be the way it's photo'd. Length is much the same on you at 5 ' 1" as it is on the 5' 8" model, and the length is fine.

Would you want to try a 16 for comparison?

Agree you look gorgeous but a smaller size would be better.

So the neckline is low but it has like a cross over design so there is more material there.

I think you need the size smaller, it looks a bit big all over so size smaller should hopefully fit and look really nice

I think it looks gorgeous and also agree trying a size smaller might be good. I have sometimes had to size down with Me and Em as the dresses are sometimes cut very generously.

I ordered a top mentioned earlier in this thread. It arrived today and it’s gorgeous. Fits perfectly. I absolutely love it. I’m really enjoying all these comments and I always imagined Me and Em wasn’t really for me, although I do have some palazzo pants and I bought a top on Vinted. I always imagined it being for size 8 people with no boobs. I couldn’t have been more wrong! Now eyeing up other things and thinking I might try and buy a piece every month and build up my wardrobe. Fewer things but nicer quality, clothes that I will love. Thanks everyone.
