Why do they do this? Branding

I absolutely love these shoes. Hate the visible branding. I find it so annoying

I think they’re horrible- but you wouldn’t see the name once your feet are in them.

It's on the front of the shoe too.

NailsHairNipsHeels · 27/02/2026 13:30

@RemusLupinsBiggestGroupietheres also branding on the front of the shoe.

OP I agree it just makes things look a bit tacky IMO I much prefer understated but lots of people want other to know they can afford Prada, Gucci etc

oneoneone · 27/02/2026 13:38

Yes, I don't care about the sole. I hate that it's on the front of the shoe.

Go over it with permanent marker 😆

Thats what I thought! But a good cobbler might be able to remove the gold and dye the logo black if they are leather.

I've said I love them, I didn't ask if people like them, this was specifically about the annoying branding.

Did it make you feel good to tell me that you think they're horrible? I never understand the need for that. If I dislike something someone posts, I just keep my mouth shut unless they've asked for opinions.

Hah, not a bad idea. But they're patent leather, so I think it would be hard to hide that, and I think the branding is sort of stamped in, so there will be dents. I don't want to end up with ruined shoes.

I just find it infuriating that brands do this.

It’s something that puts me off buying a variety of clothes and accessories, @oneoneone. (Particularly a shame with Prada as they often do beautiful shoes.)

Thankfully there are still plenty of excellent places that don’t feel the need to deface their products!

This is true. They were just so exactly what I was looking for!

They're the second pair of Prada shoes I've not bought because of this, but I guess a two pair loss isn't exactly hurting their bottom line.

Did you get lost on your way to AIBU?! This is style and beauty; we don’t criticise - we Enable. Everyone’s tastes are different.

Legomania · 27/02/2026 13:54

It seems there are a few 'tributes' out there that might work for you?

I’m sure if the OP likes them, she doesn’t need me, or anyone, to enable her. I’d think they were horrible even if they didn’t have the branding. I’m allowed to think that - and to say it. And the OP is allowed to totally ignore my opinion.

Thanks, @Legomania. I like that the strap is straight across on the Prada one instead of a v, if that makes sense? So far all of the similar shoes I've found have had the v.

Of course, makes sense. I guess the lawyers warned them off going too close!

It just seems kind of pointless and unpleasant to bother typing out a post to offer an unasked for opinion for the sole purpose of shitting on someone else's taste. But ok.

I wont wear anything with branding. I dont see why I should advertise their product for free when Ive already paid a lot of money for it.

My point was that I didn’t think the branding was the biggest problem. But you’re allowed to like them, just as I’m allowed to dislike them.

Do you often go on to threads about, say, beef recipes, to announce that you don't like beef?

Because that would be equally pointless.

JustMyView13 · 27/02/2026 14:43

Because if you’re spending that kinda cheddar on something that looks like a 90’s M&S shoe, you really do want everyone to know it’s not a 90’s M&S shoe, and is in fact Prada.

RobinEllacotStrike · 27/02/2026 14:44

I don’t buy anything branded.

Purplecatshopaholic · 27/02/2026 14:45

I like them too. The logo is small enough on that particular style that it wouldn’t bother me.

No, but I might now as it clearly gives people something to get their knickers in a twist about.

I assume that a lot of people who are willing to pay Prada prices want people to know that they have bought Prada, hence the branding.

And my reply was no more pointless than the thread itself.
