I’m trying the new straw bag, delighted to see my pea bookmark will be included in the parcel : )

Should we expect a further summer drop, and if so when do we think that will be?

ScottishMouse · 01/05/2026 13:06

I’d say one more at the end of May/beginning of June @MiracleToast and then sale mid-end of June.
I ordered the straw bag too. I’m also trying the fish top in a bigger size than they had in store and the skinny check short sleeved shirt which they didn’t have in store. I fear the sleeve length might be super unflattering, but I am in need of some lightweight tops that would work with shorts and skirts in warm weather.

MiracleToast · 01/05/2026 13:15

That would be good @ScottishMouse I live in hope that a wedding appropriate outfit might appear! The bag is just what I’ve been looking for so I’m really pleased. Hope we will like them upon arrival! And hope your tops work for you x

Hello Toast Lovers

I hope you don't mind me barging in. Does anyone have personal experience of the Cecily shirt? (I did a search but couldn't find mention of it, but it could be on an earlier thread because I think they've had it for a while. I remember checking at the end of last summer whether it was on sale. Sadly, for me, it wasn't. And it's still there, full-price, beckoning me.)

toa.st/products/cecily-gathered-cotton-chambray-shirt-light-blue

I'm interested, in particular, in the length, and on how drapey the fabric is. If drapey, that would be ideal because I think, otherwise, if it's stiffer, it might not be so good on those of us who are slightly more... gifted in the chest department.

Thanks

ScottishMouse · 01/05/2026 17:42

Non-Toast question but hoping someone can make a suggestion.
I am looking for tank style vest tops in black and white, for wearing under things rather than alone. Specifically, I need them to be lightweight (slightly sheer is fine), preferably ribbed, and with a hint of stretch. I also need them to come quite high up in the armpit area to cover bras for when I wear with sleeveless tops/dresses (Toast armholes are big and I want to cover my bras which when you are buying larger bra sizes tend to not be pretty enough to have on show!). I have been searching for a couple of years with no luck. I wear the Cos ribbed ones most of the year but want something lighter and thinner for summer. Best I have found so far is by Merz B Schwanen though the armholes are a little low and they are ££££. I’m open to paying for premium brands if they are perfect and will last for years. Thanks!!

I have this shirt from last year which looks exactly the same.
It isn’t at all stiff, the cotton is supple and drapery , light without being too thin.
it is quite roomy and so very cool in Summer. I recommend !

I have a white cotton camisole in 100% cotton from Hanro which I wore today under a linen shirt , took the shirt off as the day heated up. The style I like has a
slightly dipped sweetheart front and spaghetti straps ,it also comes in black and sells at £49
I wear a different style as a vest in Winter with wider shoulders which I wouldn’t wear on its own.For me Hanro are worth every penny .

ScottishMouse · 01/05/2026 18:47

Thanks @OftenOrange i have heard of Hanro but never seen irl. Will have a look. Where do you buy from?

CakeAndJazz · 01/05/2026 19:33

@ScottishMouse I’m sorry if I’m misunderstanding what you’re after, but have you come across the Uniqlo built in bra tops/vests? They seem really popular.

ScottishMouse · 01/05/2026 20:16

Thanks @CakeAndJazz, I’m not looking for a built-in bra though, just something that will cover my bra.

pippistrelle · 01/05/2026 20:47

Thank you so much @OftenOrange - that's just what I was hoping to hear!

ToastCosILoveIt · 01/05/2026 21:23

@pippistrelle , I have that shirt too, very light and fine and yes, drapes. I find it rolls forward/twists a bit on the shoulders when I wear it but I do love the colour and the fabric and the cute collar.

Stoic123 · 01/05/2026 23:09

More pictures and a video of the bag https://mifuko.com/products/majani-shopper-basket-one-color-natural-brown-m in case of interest.

Toast price seems decent - Wolf & Badger have it on for £174.

pippistrelle · 02/05/2026 08:55

Thank you @ToastCosILoveIt. Looks like it's settled then. The decision is out of my hands; I have to buy the shirt.

Snowyowl78 · 02/05/2026 10:34

@pippistrelle @OftenOrange @ToastCosILoveIt i too have the blue one from a while back, it looks exactly the same except now it has a name!
i wear it a lot. I bought a small from Toast and then also found a medium on Vinted as I found the small a bit tight on the upper arms. Is lovely for the summer as it’s so airy and light. I think it would be nice over a vest too.
I do find it needs a serious iron!

IlovePond · 02/05/2026 11:23

Hi, does anyone know where the Kate Sheridan sample sale is this weekend?

Thanks

IlovePond · 02/05/2026 11:25

Answered my own question - it’s at the Clapton shop.

@Saurus72 have you thought more over the dresses. I like the two that you also mentioned that you liked. I’m thinking most likely I would prefer either of these because of the sleeves and casual feeling they evoke. Really like the white dress. I imagine if I don’t choose it that I’ll think about it even more. I would like a light coloured dress or floaty skirt for this summer.
If it doesn’t look like I’ll get into a shop this weekend then it’ll be a few weeks likely before I’ll get there. So won’t get to try them on for a while. I might be tempted to just order the white, since I think that’s really the one I want. Mainly because it’s white and floaty and not the price 😱

Edited

Hello, reporting back on the white dress! I just went into the Cambridge store to try that, as well as the Tablier pinafore dress and the cotton linen neat jacket in cream. The white dress was perfectly pleasant, however wasn’t amazing and didn’t ‘delight’ me. Just a bit meh really, which I wasn’t expecting. The tablier pinafore dress fabric is truly lovely. I tried a size 12 which was too big and voluminous though and I thought the 10 would feel too restrictive at the neck, so also a no (I mean, by now I had saved over £400 so quids in!). The cream cotton linen jacket is really nice. Also size 12, like the other two spring jackets I have and love from Toast. So that’s on my wish list for the sale, as well as the brown crockery dress that I already own in navy. That’s it I think! They didn’t have the new sobremesa dress so couldn’t try that.

So no Toast purchases, but did go across the road to Jigsaw and bought a lovely light cotton dress, perfect for really hot days.

@IlovePond Will be interested to hear about the Kate Sheridan sample sale if you go. I bought a lovely patent olive bag in the Winter sale which I’ve used to death and was very fairly priced.

MsDastardley · 02/05/2026 12:13

I’ve just received my orders. The Market Fish top is great, happy with that. I had the folk top last year, and even allowing for ordering a smaller size as lost weight, this is a much better fit. The armholes don’t seem to be cut as low and I can wear without a camisole to cover bra.

The Sobremesa blue dress is lovely. It’s better than I expected. There’s a lot of black in the design which didn’t show up in online photos. This makes the blue pop and look brighter IMO. The fabric is very lightweight, and would definitely be see through in some lights. For me it is definitely a summer’s day dress. The gathering around the neck is not adjustable and the ties are fixed. I don’t like them so am going to remove and wear as a v-neck. Looks much better on me like that. I fastened the side ties towards the front and hid them in the pockets. As the fabric is so lightweight the sleeves look fluttery.

Also got a patch pocket denim skirt but that’s a replacement for one that’s too big. This is the best denim skirt ever, and one of winter staples.

I received the Kindred gift. Not something I would use but my daughter will definitely use it. I thought it would be nice to keep records of what they are planting on the allotment.

ScallopShellWalk · 02/05/2026 12:27

Thank you @Saurus72 and @MsDastardley , @CakeAndJazz and @ScottishMouse for the feedback on the dresses. It has me thinking. I too would like to save over £200 by not buying a dress 😆 though I still am going to have a look. 🤦‍♀️. Checking now I see the Sobremesa dress is not in the Edinburgh store either. In that case I likely won’t get to try it on. It’s good to hear all your thoughts, it calms down my expectations and I’m thinking maybe I’ll get on just fine without either. 😁

ScottishMouse · 02/05/2026 12:30

I received my order too. Also keeping the fish top. Had to size up to accommodate bust, and it shows a little more armpit & bra than I would like, but it is very lovely so I will just find the right undergarments for it.
The bag is fabulous! I like the look of a straw bag in summer but often they have scratchy straw straps. The leather straps on this are lovely and soft. I also like how plain it is, I’m not a fan of patterns on a straw bag. It will get a lot of use.
The stubby check short sleeve shirt is going back. I tried two sizes, the smaller feels a bit neat when I would want it to be loose and airy on hot days, but the bigger one is just too big and too long. Also has huge armholes so pretty much everything inside it can be seen when you lift your arms. Shame, as the fabric is lovely.
I’ve decided to return the navy seersucker dress as I will just not feel comfortable knowing how sheer it is.

MsDastardley · 02/05/2026 12:38

@ScottishMouse the fish top is lovely. I like Chantelle one size vests and camisoles. They are expensive but they give a bit extra coverage without bulk. I find them really comfortable and I don’t usually like tight clothing touching skin on my stomach area, if that makes sense.

@ScallopShellWalk I definitely don’t need a dress but the fabric design is so lovely. Makes a change from the usual shirtwaist I go for. I usually buy my summer dresses in September sale, but hopefully I will get to wear this many times over the summer 🤞🏻

ScallopShellWalk · 02/05/2026 12:51

@MsDastardley i like the idea of buying something lovely for summer, to welcome it in and look forward to enjoying the clothes. I’d like to try on this ikat dress before I choose one.
I hope you thoroughly enjoy your dress.

ScallopShellWalk · 02/05/2026 12:55

Does anyone have experience of taking an item for exchange to the Edinburgh store outside of an event? I know you can browse what they have in store outside of an event, as some other stores (Bath Notting Hill) also offer. I tried chat customer service who advised to call them. I can’t get through yet, likely they’re busy.

Stoic123 · 02/05/2026 13:51

@ScottishMouse - thanks for the update on the bag. I've gone for it (and another one of the lovely Provence tea towels).
