Concealing the camel toe 🐫

VernitaGreen · 14/02/2026 08:09

Only recently bought leggings for the first time for exercise. Any recommendations for hiding the camel toe?

Online searching brings up underwear products that claim to work but all seem a bit dodgy from brands I've not heard of and are either £2 from China or £35 for a single pair of pants.

Has anyone used either the silicone concealers or pants designed for this that work? Or something else, e.g. panty liners.

Honestly- can you accept that some of us have fleshy bits and some don't?

This is a daft answer. If someone is more overweight this has nothing to do with that particular area. I myself am. If that area is particularly “fleshy” as you say, then perhaps super tight leggings aren’t the style for you. In the same way a style of jeans won’t suit certain shapes, or tops etc.

So yes I can ‘accept’ people are different shapes. I can also accept not everything suits everyone, in that event. These leggings though, people do often buy too small as they don’t want the feeling of them dropping when they squat etc so they counteract that by pulling them up ridiculously high. Therefore buy a high waisted style. I have had a size too small due to weight gain and once I went up a size this issue went away. Therefore I’m literally asking the question based on my own experience. 🙄

Honestly - can you not accept not everything suits everyone and different styles suit different shapes? If someone is going to the lengths of buying things to flatten the shape down, it’s probably worth just buying different trousers/shorts.

Spectacularly missing the point.

Being fat or thin has nothing to do with the size and shape of labia.

There are leggings that are made properly, in which to work out, that don't have an inside leg seam. They are more expensive but are manufactured to avoid the problem.

Cheap leggings suit very few people and manufacturers are lazy in the design of clothing - they fail to use darts and traditional methods of cutting which disguises parts we may not want to see.

Please stop blaming women for having labia and work on whether it's the failure in design and manufacturing that causes these problems.

In other words blame the clothes not the women . . .

Leggings aren't compulsory.
If you dont want to bare your legs you also dont have to wear stuff that clings to your arse and labia.
You can wear trackies.

Some stuff needs leggings or shorts though. You can’t do a spin class in tracksuit bottoms or you’ll get in a right tangle

I get camel toe but I don't give a shit if I'm honest. All women have flaps for goodness sake, it's our anatomy.

Why should I hide it because some immature idiots don't like seeing the shape of a woman's body? If they don't like it, then the solution is don't look!

I really think that’s an over-simplistic view. This isn’t a judgement that only applies to women.

If a man were wearing leggings that were so tight you could see the clear shape of his testicles and penis, there would be uproar.

I also don’t think it’s immature to think that clothing that is so tight it clearly outlines the shape of your genitals is a bit too much.

I do wonder what’s happened to clothing because women have worn leggings forever and camel toe was rarely an issue before. Ditto for swimmers. They seem to manage to preserve their dignity. But now women are struggling to cover up and are resorting to icky bits of silicon to hide their shape??

I think as it’s gotten trendy to wear clothing that’s deliberately more and more revealing, clothing manufacture has changed. Plenty of styles now make a feature of highlighting the genitals and bum, just look at the trend for the weird scrunch-bum leggings. Women who don’t want everything on display get caught out with leggings that unexpectedly show everything.

It’s the over-sexualisation of clothing, women’s clothing. Somehow we’ve been led to believe that showing off the clear shape of our vulvas is “perfectly natural”.

It’s not. It’s neither natural or necessary.

When everyday clothing for men shows off their dick and balls in such detail that I can tell if they’re circumcised I might change my mind.

I agree, but you should have been around in the 70s, it really was all on show through ultra tight jeans 🫣

Haha, yes I was and you’re not wrong 😂🫣

But even that horror show was modest compared to women’s leggings that manufacturers are producing now!

The closest thing I can think of is when Iggy Pop wore his plastic see-through trousers with no pants!! 😳😂

I think the way around this, is to try on different brands. Not all brands fit the same.

Between my dd and myself, we have multiple pairs in the house, lots of different brands. Luckily we are the same size so can test each other's out. (Did is a dancer so wears them a lot)

Some that fit her well, are terrible on me. Some of mine, she really doesn't like on her. It is definitely down to shape. I have very wide hips which I think is the issue.

Lululemon (her favourite) look awful on me. They give me the worse CT out of all of the brands. Then Glowmode (Sheins LL dupe) she loves these, but again are a just no on me.
The list goes on from 90 degree reflex, Old Navy, Adidas, Nike.

The best for me are Under Armour. But dd dislikes these the most on her.

I think you just have to try on different brands to find the right ones for you. Everyone here recommending brands, think they are the best as they fit them the best.

I don't wear shorts either OP, so you are not alone in not wanting to either.

PithyViewer · 15/02/2026 05:53

You could just wear looser bottoms. If you wear them for exercise, you don't have to wear the skin-tight ones. If your leggings are giving you such bad camel-toe that you think you might need a silicone pad to hide it, then I suggest this might not be the right piece of clothing for you. (I know you said you don't want to wear this, just that it sounds like the situation calls for one.)

blackteaplease · 15/02/2026 08:31

OP you can do pilates in trackies if you want, I go to a bodyweight pilates class and the clothing people wear is split between joggers, leggings amd yoga pants.

I wear under armour capris generally, the seam splits and has a patch under the crotch. I avoid shorts though as in the summer my sweaty legs stick to the mat and loose shorts would ride up too much.

I do think though that your issue may not be as visible as you think. I barely look at anyone else in pilates as I'm focusing on my own technique.

I used to use a lovely pair of harem pants for yoga that were legging fabric but more loose

I can't quite define why but I have even bought leggings deliberately 2 sizes too big and they still bunch up in the crotch and show CT. It's really not about them being too small but yes, deliberately loose ones might be better.

@landlordhell harem pants are a great idea, I might see if they have any in a lighter fabric (dont like heavy joggers)

They are all mainly light jersey or spandex.

It appears so based on responses. Also that I'll have to do some significant trying on next time. 🤦‍♀️🫣

How did you buy these leggings? Did you not try on different types to see which fit best?
how do you buy bras and shoes? Do you just buy the first pair that you find in your generic size or do you try on different ones and buy the one that is most comfortable and the best fit? A pair of leggings is not like a baggy jumper or tshirt. It’s form fitting, so you need to make sure it flatters your form.

Pyjamatimenow · 15/02/2026 15:29

I wear leggings all the time and just don’t worry about it. I’ve had a mons lift when they did my tummy tuck. It’s just a body part

And I disagree. I do think its unusual for a grown adult to not want to wear shorts for a million pounds, but will happily wear leggings that are far less flattering. And you admit yourself they don't look good on you (the camel toe)

Lots of women only wear leggings to exercise and don't feel confident wearing shorts - it really isn't unusual. I regularly go to parkrun, and even in summer, more women wear leggings than shorts to run in. Personally, I prefer shorts (occassionally wear leggings if it's really cold), but I would say I'm definitely in the minority among the women.

Melancholyflower · 15/02/2026 16:02

Overtheatlantic · 14/02/2026 17:46

Most women: Whoops, I’m flashing a bit of camel toe, better wear a longer t-shirt.
OP: Perhaps I should ask on MN all the different ways to cover CT, and spend 8 hours debating the various suggestions.

This is why you have pinged as a pervy man to some of us.

I have loads of exercise clothing, including lots of leggings, cycle shorts, looser shorts and vests/tops; none of my tops cover my fanny/arse and if you go to the Sweaty Betty or Lululemon websites you'll see that most exercise tops don't.

Men wear cycling shorts to cycle and speedos for swimming. They leave much less to the imagination then a bit of camel toe.

Absolutely no one is up in arms about it because men simply aren't judged in the same way women are.

I thought about that. In the majority of cases that type of sportswear you’ve described still isn’t as revealing and tight-fitting as the leggings we’re discussing here. There’s usually a bit of room so there’s a bit of a hint of shape but it’s not the same.

Also, that type of clothing is only worn when there’s no alternative. Competitive cycling or swimming requires participants to be streamlined.

That’s not the case at the gym. There are lots of viable alternatives without insisting that tightly outlined genitals is the only option.

We don’t see men in this type of clothing at the gym or in everyday wear, and that’s my point.

It’s women’s clothing that is unnecessarily revealing and explicit - because it’s being deliberately manufactured that way.

I completely agree that women are subject to much more judgement than men but I think on this occasion, if men were wearing shorts that fitted like a second skin and showed every crease and fold in their penis and testicles, they’d also be heavily criticised.

I didn’t ask for it. It was just done as part of the tummy tuck. Tbh it probably makes things even more prominent from the front.

LadyCrustybread · 15/02/2026 17:02

Wear shorts over the leggings? Many women don’t have an innie so don’t get the camel toe.. different shape. The crotch of my leggings isn’t flush against my vulva so wouldn’t happen anyway.
