Removing pubic hair

bluedabadeedabadoo · 05/01/2026 11:52

Good morning all. How is everyone removing pubic hair nowadays (all of it).
I usually use removal cream but I’m overly sensitive and have come out in lots of red spots.
Shaving brings me out in red spots.
I don’t fancy waxing. Are there any other options out there?
Perhaps the electric shavers? What are they like, do they offer a close shave?
Home laser treatment- how does this work with public hair?

Again, why?

Why is it any of your business? Why are trying to convince op that you know more about her reasoning and preferences than she does? She asked for advice, not a patronising lecture.

We know why (men and their preferences).

IrisPallida · 05/01/2026 14:50

God, I LOVE my bush!

Springy curly hairs that keep my pants from rubbing on my skin. Something for DH to wrap his fingers round when we lie with our hands on each others bits in a post-sex glow.

momental · 05/01/2026 14:50

OP, I found sugaring a great alternative to waxing. Not every salon does it but as pain free as can be. Brilliant!

Why can’t you take her answer at face value??? Because not having long hair feels better, less sweaty, less hot, less in the way. Yeah I prefer the way it looks too, which I am entitled to do as it is MY BODY, and liking how it looks is pretty great. Why do you prefer being hairy? No skin off my nose either way but I don’t see any answer you could give that is more legitimate than the OPs.

Philips Lumea. It’s great.

Not if you are blonde. They just don’t work.

Mapletree1985 · 05/01/2026 14:54

Just wait till menopause. It falls out of its own accord.

Tina46 · 05/01/2026 14:56

Agree that proper laser at a salon is great. Works best on pale skin and dark hair. The salons near me almost always have a sale where you can buy a package of say 10 treatments. Much less painful and more permanent than waxing - and you can shave in between treatments.

Saying that, I had my legs and forearms lasers but just do the foof with a razor in the shower.

Guys... may I ask what I feel is a fundamental question?

How do you see what you're doing down there?

Especially right underneath and... towards the back? 🤭

I'd like to make more effort down there, not to remove everything, but just to neaten things up a bit.

I’m quite bendy but if you’re feeling really thorough take the bathroom mirror off the wall and squat over it 😂

EchoesOfOurDreams · 05/01/2026 14:57

I use an electric shaver. It doesn't provide as close a shave as a normal razor but I don't get any irritation when doing it this way. It leaves it about 1mm in length which suits me.

Squatting over a small mirror works for me 😄

Why don’t we think it’s just your personal choice?

Because it’s a strange choice to make ? It’s unhealthy and painful and yet you still want to persist ?

if you were self harming it would be seen as a bad thing. Why is this not self harming? What makes this ok?

In what world is this self harming? Just because you want to stay hairy there’s no need to say such horrible accusatory things to the OP.

OP, I just shave mine with a normal razor. It’s tedious but it’s cheap. I don’t suffer with any rash or itching so it works for me.

And I definitely don’t look like an eight year old 😂

We know why (men and their preferences).

Nothing to do with men, its my preference. My partner actually prefers a bush, but as its not his vulva, he doesn't get a say. Women can have opinions and preferences over their own bodies and appearances without taking mens' thoughts into account. Any man who tried to dictate their preference over the appearance of my fanny wouldnt be getting near it.

Why does there need to be a reason? Why is my comfort not enough?

Epilator? It’s just cleaner and smoother.

Pubic hair is clean

teamsongreenalways · 05/01/2026 15:05

Just get laser...

Again, why?

Why does it matter? She’s not asking if you agree with her desire to remove it; she’s asking for tips.

bluedabadeedabadoo · 05/01/2026 12:13

Thanks. Yes I could leave it alone but I feel more comfortable during sex to not have any.

Do you mean "comfortable that you're looking like you're told you 'should'?" or actually comfortable?

Not necessarily! I’m mid 70’s now, and would still have a full bush if I didn’t regularly have a salon wax to remove it all.

BlackCat14 · 05/01/2026 15:11

Not sure what removal cream you use, I used to use Nair and didn’t find it great, now I use Woowoo and it’s fabulous!

visionpools · 05/01/2026 15:11

I use the Phillips one blade, it has lots of settings so you don’t have to take all the hair off but the shortest setting gives a really close shave for bikini line without having to deal with razor burn.

Agreed. My DH doesn't care either way what I do with my pubic hair but I've always preferred the feel of being trimmed/shaven rather than having all the hair. I don't have a close shave but use an electric shaver to trim it down to about 1mm. For me it's a preference and I'm certainly not doing it to please a man 😄.

bluedabadeedabadoo · 05/01/2026 13:27

Where have I stated that I do this because it’s something that someone else wants me to do? Why can’t this just be about my choice and this be respected without such comments being made?

probably when many of these women started removing hair, it was because it there was social pressure to do so.

Magazines/media/the beauty industry told them it was unattractive to men (as a peer pressure tool). their friends and mothers might have reiterated this to themselves

They now think that male gaze was the only reason to do it. Those that stopped removing hair especially seem to believe that they’re sticking their finger up to the patriarchy by not and anyone who does shave is just weak or conforming or pressured (by pedophile men, apparently?).

i can’t stand not shaving. I will shave when I’m single, I will shave when I’m not, I shave when I’m ill or on my period or any of the other times people think they’re superior for not shaving during. I have never had a man see my shaved body and confuse me with a child. I’ve also never had a man ask me before he’s seen anything whether I have hair - and any who have seen down there have not ever given an opinion on what I should do with it. This is just fully grown women being obnoxious

ps I really want to know whether the lumea actually works - shaving sucks! Waxing hurts! And epilators are evil! I must have a low pain threshold
