Removing pubic hair

bluedabadeedabadoo · 05/01/2026 11:52

Good morning all. How is everyone removing pubic hair nowadays (all of it).
I usually use removal cream but I’m overly sensitive and have come out in lots of red spots.
Shaving brings me out in red spots.
I don’t fancy waxing. Are there any other options out there?
Perhaps the electric shavers? What are they like, do they offer a close shave?
Home laser treatment- how does this work with public hair?

Why does it matter? She’s not asking if you agree with her desire to remove it; she’s asking for tips.

Agree so much.
There was a similar thread on here about a year ago and so many posters went in on those of us who prefer to remove our hair. They said we were being controlled by our partners and our partners were clearly perverts as we must all look like children. It was wild!
I also prefer the hair free look and feel, and did this when I was single for six years, for MYSELF.

Univerallyuniversal · 05/01/2026 15:17

It’s there for a reason. Only children don’t have pubic hair.

fabulousx · 05/01/2026 15:19

I trim.
As I can't deal with the itching after shaving or waxing.
I also have very very Sensitive skin.

I dont like bald because of the regrowth and itching, and i hate a full bush.
So I have a very short trim the shortest I can get.

Leave it alone, or wait until you hit menopause and it all falls out 😂

😅

You are strange not the OP.🤣🤣🤣

Honestly it is a bit odd. If somebody flew in from one hundred years ago, they'll be thinking what the fuck. (Alongside why the hell is everyone staring at a black rectangle and not speaking, and why is the US president mentally deficient).

I remember that thread they were loony on it.
Im single have been for years and i trim it flat.
I have sensitive skin or I would go bald.
Its a choice that we make for yourself.

It's there for a reason and it's better to leave it there.

If someone flew in from 100 years ago I can think of a thousand things they'd be worried about before the hair (or lack thereof) on a woman's fanny.

Many many things we do now that we didnt 100 years ago, and vice versa. Women could just about vote, couldn't open bank accounts, marital rape was still legal etc etc. 100 years ago is a batshit benchmark on fucked up.

Ops reasons are her own.
If she wants to remove it that is her choice.

SocksAndTheCity · 05/01/2026 15:25

God, these threads. I've never touched mine (nor my armpits or any other body hair) but being patronised to within an inch of my life by smug, self righteous randoms is almost enough to send me running to the waxers on general principle.

Who needs men controlling how we manage our bodies when there's a huge line of women falling over themselves to do it?

Yes, but she's having issues with a rash etc so it might be worth asking herself why bother because it's there for a reason.
No one ever touched their pubes when I was younger only the stragglers when wearing a bikini etc.
It's a fashion that needs to die IMO.

It's so cold, I'm growing all the hair I can for warmth.

Exactly this. Couldn't care less what OP does, but she's asking on a forum how to avoid pain, rash, stubble etc in order to remove her pubic hair and the only reason she gives for doing so is 'comfort during sex'. Wtf? Plainly, comfort is not her priority or she would not be implementing these senseless tortures to herself.

Its true! But if it happened to be the first thing they encountered on a nudist beach it would be a surprise!

I genuinely don't care what people do with their body hair but do find it a culturally interesting phenomenon. When I lived in cuba in the nineties women used to shave their thigh hair in a straight line so the bit below the mid thigh was still hairy. It was considered very sexy in Hispanic women alongside a big arse and hips. My natutally hairless thighs and skinny bum.was of no interest to anyone.
In the UK, we were all expected to be skinny as fuck with huge tits and a neat but present pube area.

Nancylancy · 05/01/2026 15:32

Sorry haven't RTFT but wanted to respond quickly.

I have just booked in to a laser clinic to have all my hair removed down there via laser treatment. Once I've been I'll let you know how it goes if you like - the special laser they use is meant to be extremely effective and also pain free. I want someone else to do it rather than buying a home machine as clearly I won't be able to see to do it all myself - I want it ALL off. I normally shave it all off, including my bum (think "Hollywood" wax) as I hate the feel of being hairy, it's itchy and uncomfortable, and I just feel cleaner and fresher - personal preference for me.

I've had IPL before on underarms and that worked very well, but I don't think it lasted longer than a year, and it did feel like a "nip" so I'd be reluctant to have that done down below.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 05/01/2026 15:33

When I’ve needed to (removing excess before hitting the beach) I’ve just used Veet or Immac.

If every remover gives you trouble, why not just give yourself a ‘haircut’ with scissors? I take it you don’t actually need to remove it all because of starring in porn films, or having a bloke who thinks you ought to….

xSideshowAuntSallyXx · 05/01/2026 15:34

If you shave you need to remember to exfoliate so you don't get ingrown hairs or the little spots.

Have you tried a cream for sensitive skin? Veet do one it may be more gentler than a normal cream.

Everyone telling her to leave it are missing the point, she doesn't want to leave it. Not everyone wants to be hairy, if I didn't wax or shave I'd be more harrier than some men (just the way I am, absolutely nothing wrong with me before anyone jumps in with their Internet diagnosis).

Nancylancy · 05/01/2026 15:37

Just read some more of the thread now - oh of COURSE everyone is bashing her choice to remove pubic hair, because it MUST be strange/ weird / pointless/ unnatural etc etc etc
BORE OFF
I get rid of all my hair down there because when I'm hairy I feel sweaty, unhygienic, itchy, I don't like the look of it either especially through my underwear! So mine all gets shaved because that's how I like it. End of! Leave the OP alone!

Just because you have no problem with your own hairy bush it doesn't mean others can't be happier and more comfortable with no hair!

Rant over 😂 can't ask any questions on MN without all your life choices being absolutely ripped apart lol

upstairsdownstairscardboardbox · 05/01/2026 15:37

I was told by a sex therapist that removing my pubic hair would help me when I had issues post birth - my clit had sunk a bit, basically. But when I mentioned this on MN, I was told I was wrong and in fact DH is a nonce.
It's odd isn't it? Why are women with shaven faced husbands not nonces? Boys have no beard and men do so surely it is the same?
MN is an odd place sometimes, bollocking women for choosing what to do with their own body is bizarre.
And a LOT of men remove their hair these days - the "well men don't" posts are very 1990s 😂

Nevereatcardboard · 05/01/2026 15:38

Nothing wrong with wanting to remove hair and nothing wrong with wanting to keep it. It’s a personal choice.

I do take my (furry) hat off to those of you who wax and epilate!

beadystar · 05/01/2026 15:38

It all grows back inside a month if you change your mind. Bald, short, 70s bush, who cares. OP has asked for removal suggestions. Personally not a fan of lots of public hair for myself. I hate waxing. I just go over it all with electric trimmers. I’m not troubled with ingrown hairs like I was with wet shaving, but even then, Nads solution (from Boots) seemed to prevent anything. Laser doesn’t work if your hair is fair and Veet is a bit burny.

Im not saying it isn't true, im saying 100 years isnt a solid non-fucked up benchmark of women in society.

Oh hell, yes. I’m 68 now, and I miss my bush. I never dreamed I’d ever say that.

Idontknowhatnametochoose · 05/01/2026 15:40

I shaved mine since I was sbout 21 but in the last few months at age 47 I decided to stop. I trim it down but I actually feel more ladylike with hair! The guys who wanted au naturale can go jump. Not saying everyone should do the same, just another perspective.

JasmineFontana · 05/01/2026 15:41

Shaving and using baby oil as suggested earlier is the best/fastest way in my experience.

Ignore the scolding 🙄 I prefer the way it looks and feels. For me, it looks better with lingerie etc too - neater and sexier.

Men actually don't seem as bothered by what the hair situation is! I just prefer it.
