Removing pubic hair

Good morning all. How is everyone removing pubic hair nowadays (all of it).
I usually use removal cream but I’m overly sensitive and have come out in lots of red spots.
Shaving brings me out in red spots.
I don’t fancy waxing. Are there any other options out there?
Perhaps the electric shavers? What are they like, do they offer a close shave?
Home laser treatment- how does this work with public hair?

More is removed with toilet paper or absorbed with a pad if you don’t have hair for it to stick to. I’ve seen many posters on mn who don’t shower daily, and think just a quick splash of water down there with no soap is enough. The more hair in this case, the more smell/bacteria

\Did you know that contrary to what you said, gynaecologists say it's healthier to keep pubic hair?

Best way to get rid of pubic hairs?
Spit them out.

The old ones are the best. 😁

I didn't say it was acceptable. I said it was different.

What do you mean by different? Different how? Different why?

See this is where I think we're on shaky ground - I don't think it's okay to claim that those with hair have more smell or bacteria.
Even if you're shaved/waxed, you're not wiping urine or blood cleanly off - it's still there until you actually wash, and it's right on your skin.

I don’t think that anyone on here has claimed that everyone with full pubic hair has more smell or bacteria. I think that they’ve said that they personally smell or feel better with less hair. Posters have asked why they would smell less and course the role of body hair trapping secretions, sweat, etc contributing to bacterial growth and therefore smell has been mentioned.

This is specifically talking about other posters she claims will smell more due to the presence of hair.

I for instance felt that my own odour changed negatively when I removed all my pubes, but that's clearly not everyone's experience, so I don't go around claiming that all those with bald vulvas smell odd.

Come on now, think about that for a moment.

You know why. I'm not engaging with this silly question.

HeadDeskHeadDesk · 10/01/2026 15:01

Don't take it all off. Just shear it back really short with bikini area clippers and wax or shave around the edges. Really no need to remove the entire lot, especially not if it's giving you problems and irritation.

HeadDeskHeadDesk · 10/01/2026 15:06

bluedabadeedabadoo · 05/01/2026 13:26

I think this person was referring to the fact that no one had suggested this although I have had a comment from someone about not wanting to be with someone who said they would feel uncomfortable about being with someone who wanted them to look like an 8 year old down there 🙄

I would feel that way too. It's not really an acceptable request in my opinion. I'd be bothered by a man who pressured me into it by insisting he much preferred it. I like to keep things clipped very short, neat and tidy but completely bald? No thanks.

landlordhell · 10/01/2026 08:02

This. Secretions and sweat don’t disappear because you have no hair . You shower daily, surely.

You could say the same about period blood. Obviously you wipe constantly but until you shower it clings more. And yes at least once sometimes twice a day.

Ive heard different but from Americans who have it as the norm

It’s not silly. I don’t know why you think bikini line hair is different to the rest of the pubic hair.

Most people do not go around swimming pools or on beaches naked, showing all their pubes.
But some do prefer to trim any poking out of swimwear.

I think most nudists who do go naked at pools and beaches remove every pubic hair tbh

Nobody is naked. This is about removing bikini line hair for wearing of swimwear. Why is that decided to be acceptable pubic hair removal but not the removal of the rest of the pubic hair? Why can’t women leave their bikini lines natural and have visible pubic hair at the edges of their swimwear, and for some continuing down their thighs? Men do it. It’s acceptable for them. Why not women? Some would argue that it’s changing their bikini line into a child’s bikini line.

They really don't .....In fact totally the opposite

Maybe we’ve had different experiences. I was in Fuerteventura in summer and didn’t see anyone with pubic hair at the nudist beach.

This!

So if people see you in your knickers or a swimming cossie, it’s good to give the impression that you are hair free. But it’s bad to actually be hair free?🤷‍♀️

I saw the biggest (male) bush of my life on the nudist bit of Brighton beach. Somewhat incongruously, he was also wearing a windproof anorak.

I hope you’ve recovered from the shock 😂

It took a while but I got there 😂
I wasn't even on the beach! I was idly enjoying the (nice, until that point) view from the top deck of the bus.

Oof! Much as I think people should feel free to let it all hang out on a nudist beach, that doesn't sound like the most enjoyable sight ever.

Not directly pubic hair-related but that anecdote reminded me of a young woman I once saw cycling through a busy town centre on a hot day in a thong bikini. From the back she looked naked and was getting a lot of startled looks! Given the brevity of the bikini I think she must have been firmly in the 'whip it all off' camp, but either way it was one of the most incongruous sights I've ever seen...

Many things on a nudist beach aren't the most enjoyable sight ever 🤣
