Removing pubic hair

bluedabadeedabadoo · 05/01/2026 11:52

Good morning all. How is everyone removing pubic hair nowadays (all of it).
I usually use removal cream but I’m overly sensitive and have come out in lots of red spots.
Shaving brings me out in red spots.
I don’t fancy waxing. Are there any other options out there?
Perhaps the electric shavers? What are they like, do they offer a close shave?
Home laser treatment- how does this work with public hair?

A proper razor and a new one each time, try with baby oil, it works very well.

Allaboutthechild · 05/01/2026 13:50

Personally I just tidy it up because I find full removal uncomfortable (itchy, bumpy and velcro like!) but those using wax, epilating etc how to do get rid of the hair between your labia and bum cheeks?

LeftBoobGoneRogue · 05/01/2026 13:52

@LeonMccogh
Going to the hairdressers rarely causes cuts, infections and ingrown hairs. Pubic hair removal unfortunately has risks so it’s not a fair comparison.
Women should do whatever they want to their pubic hair, or leave it and have a bush. Total removal has been a fashion for a long time now. Before the 90s it was relatively unusual for women to remove all their pubes. I can only recollect one woman I know shaving it all off before then.

I tried most things apart from laser cos ouch and v-mould waxing is the best
gets every hair in and out and not as painful as normal waxing

HurdyGurdy19 · 05/01/2026 12:59

How does it work? Is it like an epilator? Is it pain free?

TIA

It’s IPL so it’s a bit like a bar code scanner. Flashes light at the follicle and puts it to sleep. I don’t feel it all but some people say it’s like an elastic band pinging you? So not painful as such. There are different levels though so just go down a level if it hurts. I do it once a month and then don’t have to think about it again!

Heartbreaksally · 05/01/2026 14:01

I swear by sugaring op

cannaethink · 05/01/2026 14:01

I had laser, I’d thoroughly recommend it. I wish I’d done it when I was younger as there’s a few greys which obviously were unaffected by the laser.
I shave every week or two to get rid of them but there’s no rough stubble, bumps or spots now as it’s only a few hairs. Nice and smooth, and comfy.
I had 13 sessions though the last two were just top ups. It cost about £350.

Whatflavourjellybabyisnice · 05/01/2026 14:06

I know you've said shaving doesn't work for you, but have you tried a 3 or 4 blade razor and changing it regularly?
I didn't used to and that was a problem for me, giving me razor bumps and irritation.

Puddingpiper · 05/01/2026 14:09

Have you tried the sensitive hair removal cream?

NoArmaniNoPunani · 05/01/2026 14:10

Salon hot wax

SatsumaDog · 05/01/2026 14:11

Shaving here. If done regularly then it’s not
a big task. It’s easier just to take it all off rather than leaving some.

The day men are willing to cover their ball sacks in hot wax and rip their pubes out for us, that's when I'll think about it.

I would also be really uncomfortable with someone who wanted me to look like an 8 year old down there!

I do that. Several men I know do that. Do you think you helped answer OPs question?

I’m so tempted by laser and found somewhere that isn’t too expensive since but seems decent. They’re offering a package with legs and Brazilian or Hollywood but I think I just want a good bikini because being over 50 I think having everything off down there might not be my pref any more.

Lobelia123 · 05/01/2026 14:16

I use depilatory cream every two weeks and take it all off. Its quick and easy, painless and theyve managed the formerly toxic fumes and chemical burns very well - the new formulations are very user friendly. Im a horse rider and cant stand the hot sticky scratchy feeling of a full bush. Much lighter and cooler just to take it all off.

Why don’t we think it’s just your personal choice?

Because it’s a strange choice to make ? It’s unhealthy and painful and yet you still want to persist ?

if you were self harming it would be seen as a bad thing. Why is this not self harming? What makes this ok?

@midgetastic

whats unhealthy about it??

I’ve shaved even when I’ve been single.

It's so cold, I'm growing all the hair I can for warmth.

🥶🥶…….me too😂😂

Yes that’s what I use.

Which tremoval cream do you use? Most of them were no good for me, causing similar issues that you've had, but I tried WooWoo, and that was fine on my very sensitive skin.

"Cuts, razor burn, ingrown hairs, folliculitis, and increased susceptibility to skin infections and certain STIs (like herpes or molluscum) due to micro-abrasions in the skin, which also removes pubic hair's natural protective barrier against friction and bacteria"

I also personally find that my pubes and armpit hair act as natural sweat wicking.

ISpyNoPlumPie · 05/01/2026 13:46

I don’t remove all my hair. I use a bikini line trimmer/shaver. Sometimes.

How is it more comfortable during sex if your skin is sensitive and covered in red spots?

Of course you can exercise your choice, but you can’t pretend that there isn’t a misogynistic context within which you’re making that choice. And also, let’s just be honest, this isn’t a good choice for anyone’s body. Every form of hair removal particularly in the pubic region, involves pain, expense, ingrowing hairs, and rashes. The hair is meant to be there.

If you remove the hair correctly why would it be sensitive and covered in red spots!? It’s perfectly smooth like a dolphin and doesn’t have annoying hairs snugging, pulling, getting trapped in teeth.

Do all of you against removing this hair also let your leg hair grow to full bloom? Or do you just trim the edges of it? Surely you don’t want the smooth hairless legs of a child.

Edit to add: I love a seasonal full bush but relish the choice to whip it all off as and when I desire. (Or can be bothered)

Thindog · 05/01/2026 12:16

Just plait it and add a red ribbon.

🤣🤣👒……..sorry, this is the only ribbon I can find

Agree proper grade laser. Haven't had a pube for about 10 years.

Anyone been on to call her husband a paedo yet 🙄

"paedo" - check

Just need "internalised misogyny" and "The Patriarchy" for a full house :)

Hot wax is the answer. Don’t let anyone near you with warm wax and strips, a torture that firmly belongs back in the 90s!!

Can you recommend a good at home one??

somanychristmaslights · 05/01/2026 14:25

I use laser hair removal at home. I have the Phillips one.
