Removing pubic hair

bluedabadeedabadoo · 05/01/2026 11:52

Good morning all. How is everyone removing pubic hair nowadays (all of it).
I usually use removal cream but I’m overly sensitive and have come out in lots of red spots.
Shaving brings me out in red spots.
I don’t fancy waxing. Are there any other options out there?
Perhaps the electric shavers? What are they like, do they offer a close shave?
Home laser treatment- how does this work with public hair?

I trim it with nail scissors. If I’m going on holiday I get a “high bikini” wax to spare fellow beach goers the sight of my pubes sprouting out of the sides of my gusset. But that’s it.

I must have self harmed when I went through child birth.

There’s no requirement to remove it for that either…? (I certainly didn’t)

GaIadriel · 08/01/2026 23:01

Obv people should do what they want, but there seems to be this odd belief that it's unfeminist to remove pubic hair.

I honestly reckon that our best chance of developing time travel is to somehow convince feminists that men are against it. I swear they'd have a patent within the month. 🤣

That's my point, it's very rude. Hence a PP shouldn't have described bikini line pubes as ugly.

Is neglecting to trim your pubes really the same as having cancer? I'm thinking one is optional and then other not so much.

You're the only one who mentioned that.

How about we just agree that calling someone else's pubic region ugly is rude and unpleasant, even if said public region is bushy?

Unexpectedlysinglemum · 08/01/2026 23:16

I did laser in a salon and it nearly worked but during and after pregnancy lots grew back

Mentioned what?

I agree it's rude to refer to someone's panty hamster as ugly but I still think losing one's hair to cancer isn't comparable to neglecting to groom it. If a bloke had long greasy hair it'd be an odd excuse to say "well, some men are totally bald".

Who mentioned cancer though, where did that come from?
Someone said pube spiders were ugly. I pointed out that thry wouldn't like their bald fanny being called ugly.

I was assuming the chemo reference you quoted was talking about cancer sufferers.

Tbf a space racoon sounds a bit like a pubic hairstyle as well! 🤭

Bit I'm saying that it does look gross, and for that reason!

So many women shave their armpits. Does that look gross and prepubescent too?

Let people do what THEY want. Why do you have an opinion on what other women do with their pubes?

Damn it. Someone has already taken it as a username.

I trim my pubic hair with a bikini trimmer. I shaved it all off once or twice and regrowth was itchy and I got so many ingrown hairs. No way to waxing. That would be too much pain and I’d get ingrowns.

I feel so much better with short pubes. Cleaner, drier and nicer smelling because there’s no long hair to catch sweat, secretions, urine or blood, and sex is better. A long hair getting caught and accidentally pulled during sex hurts. Multiple long hairs getting pulled hurts even more. Same with them getting caught in underwear. Also it just feels nice to be able to be almost skin to skin with DH instead of a padding of pubic hair between us. He trims some of his sometimes.

Of course you’re not imagining it. Pubic hair traps sweat, oil, pheromones. It gets coated in urine and menstrual blood. And more. It smells - it is MEANT to, from an evolutionary perspective. However nowadays most of us would agree it smells gross!

Those of us who choose to keep something there do actually wash, you know, just the same as you presumably do. Yes, it's 'meant' to smell - of natural secretions conducive to sex, not sweat, urine, menstrual blood, which are only an issue if someone isn't washing. Please don't presume to speak for what 'most of us' think.

But in nature you only have to watch other species; sweat, urine and more are conducive to sex. It’s just that humans with or without hair (it really doesn’t matter what you choose, thankfully tend to reject some of nature’s more basic bits.

True, but it's because humans have more refined sensibilities (well, I hope most of us do anyway 😄) that I'm not really seeing the relevance of what other species consider a turn-on to this particular discussion...

StarlightLady · 09/01/2026 14:56

@dreamiesformolly - Fair point, although with some of the things in life l begin to wonder.

l still don’t see why people get worked up on this one though. I have no hair but that does not make me any less a feminist than someone with a full bush, (NB: l am not saying that you personally are suggesting otherwise), likewise l have friends with no hair, lots of hair and something in between. And do you know what, none of us have a bun fight over it. x

That's the thing - even if the pubes weren't there, the various secretions would be. At least with pubes they're wicked away. Although someone said they liked to be bald so they could wipe frequently with a wet wipe, which is I guess thorough.

I'm sometimes trimmed, sometimes bushy, and never stinky.

Agree. That’s what the hair is for.

Presumably that's what the hair was for before humans started wearing underwear.

Hair is for? The female body was not designed it evolved.

lf hair has a purpose it is to hold “scent” in order to attract a mate. The same applies to the underarm smell.

Besides that reason, though, it is often considered to be there to provide some degree of protection to the genital area...

Agree, I've noticed on other threads/forums that people get very het up about this. Only thing that riles me (and likewise I realise you haven't said this, but many people seem to) is when people who remove their pubic hair insist on saying it's 'gross' and/or 'disgusting' not to do so.

I use hair removal cream and it’s so easy make sure it’s the sensitive one !!
