Removing pubic hair

Good morning all. How is everyone removing pubic hair nowadays (all of it).
I usually use removal cream but I’m overly sensitive and have come out in lots of red spots.
Shaving brings me out in red spots.
I don’t fancy waxing. Are there any other options out there?
Perhaps the electric shavers? What are they like, do they offer a close shave?
Home laser treatment- how does this work with public hair?

OP posts:

She didn't ask for general opinions on the socialisation of women who choose to remove their public hair though. She asked for removal tips on the style and beauty board.

Actually, she addressed her question to 'all' and then asked how 'everyone' is removing their pubic hair. That does invite answers from women who want to correct her that not 'everyone' does so I think a discussion is fair enough.

I'm not anti pubic hair removal, but I will note that while the pro-removal side will always note that someone on the anti-removal side will bring up child-like bodies, it's also true that at a certain point someone on the pro-removal side (and here OP was first) will bring up the cleanliness argument. They will say that because they feel clean with no hair, doesn't mean having hair is dirty, but I think they need to examine their feelings about that.

Because it’s ugly? Some people go swimming a lot or wear half decent underwear and don’t want spiders legs poking out.

Bikini line is a different thing.

That's the thing - even if the pubes weren't there, the various secretions would be. At least with pubes they're wicked away. Although someone said they liked to be bald so they could wipe frequently with a wet wipe, which is I guess thorough.

I'm sometimes trimmed, sometimes bushy, and never stinky.

They keep the smell in though, same as armpit hair. It’s not a bad thing, just personal preference.

Whether there's hair or bald though, the smell will be there until you wash surely?

Such a controversial topic! I posted previously about my sister's and me, and we were actually talking about this last night! As I mentioned before, we are a bit of a Goldilocks trio on this regard. Sister 1 is hairless, me in the middle and sister 2 full bush. But last night we were all firmly wedded to our choices! We have all had sex, given birth, had smears etc so plenty of chances to change our opinions.
Interestingly we all do our armpits and would be horrified not to. Definitely a mix of societal pressure and aesthetic preference there. Not sure which is the greater. And obviously.more people see my armpits than my genitals.

I said before that I don't care either way. I really don't, and the same with men. I have my preferences for my own bits, and it anyone has a problem with that it's their problem! I don't worry about smell or secretions because I wash myself, and frankly if any sexual partner got as far as getting my knickers off only to be horrified by my pubic hair then I am probably best off stopping right there!

This. Secretions and sweat don’t disappear because you have no hair . You shower daily, surely.

Easier to wipe it off with toilet paper with less/no hair compared to having stiff crunchy pubic hair coated in dried secretions/blood. Toilet paper couldn’t wipe all of it off so it dried and went stiff and crunchy. A wet wipe couldn’t get it off. It would be there until I showered. Hated it.

Some people just don’t like the feel of their pubic hair. My DD doesn’t and has trouble washing herself properly because she doesn’t want to touch the hair in the shower. She trims it off now. She much prefers it that way. 100% not for the male gaze. She’s underage and can’t even bear to see an onscreen kiss. No boy is getting near her naked, or fully clothed.

Bikini line is a different thing.

Why? Why is the bikini line “acceptable” hair removal but the rest of genital hair isn’t to some? Double standard there.

FWIW I don’t care what anyone does to their own pubic hair. Full bush or full wax or anything in between. Whatever makes them happy.

I can’t say I had that issue. When on a period I would shower more often.

@landlordhell

if you’re at work for 8 hours plus a day though you can’t shower that regularly, 2 showers a day max really

ChampagneLassie · 10/01/2026 08:46

Salon laser treatments work, gets rid completely.although it’s not forever, they do tend to grow back a bit but the hairs that regrow are softer more like arm hairs and much fewer. I shave the regroth

I have never really got that messy during a period. Tampons so nothing much externally.
Two showers a day very adequate to be acceptable clean at all times.

The day men are willing to cover their ball sacks in hot wax and rip their pubes out for us, that's when I'll think about it.

I would also be really uncomfortable with someone who wanted me to look like an 8 year old down there!

You’d better start thinking about it. That’s how I get all my pubic hair and genital removed. My good lady also waxes. Equality here 😃

The (not) fun starts with periods when you get older.

I'm pretty old now, I'm over 50.

What, every 2-3 hours whenever you had a wee and changed your pad? Bet your skin was unhealthy and what a huge use of water and electricity and shower products. I’d be scratching my skin off showering that often.

@SpaceRaccoon I see you posted that you use tampons. Bit of a difference there between that and a pad for the amount of blood getting all over pubic hair. Almost like women can have individual circumstances, differences and preferences, including their pubes. Have you considered that? That not everyone is just like you?

Edited because I mixed up two posters thinking that they were the same posters.

So to address your point, I only posted on this thread because someone called pubes "ugly", I'm not the one with the issue about women having different needs and preferences.
I even tried the bald thing a few times, not for me.

More is removed with toilet paper or absorbed with a pad if you don’t have hair for it to stick to. I’ve seen many posters on mn who don’t shower daily, and think just a quick splash of water down there with no soap is enough. The more hair in this case, the more smell/bacteria

WinterWooliesBaa · 10/01/2026 10:49

WhatIsTheCharge · 05/01/2026 12:00

I’ve tried it all over the years and always come back to waxing.

The first one hurts….but after that? Really not that bad at all. The hair grows back much slower and more sparsely than with other methods. I had my very first one done at a salon, but then I can keep on top of it every 4-6 weeks at home.

Brave! I tried it myself but couldn't inflict that much pain on myself. I had a woman (who became a friend) did it for years until she moved (😢) then I tried creams (mixed results) but age has taken care of most of it & what's left just roams wild. I preferred it waxed though!

WinterWooliesBaa · 10/01/2026 10:54

DramaQueenlady · 05/01/2026 12:48

Just grows on your chin instead 😂😂

That's true! & now that's waxed (&upper lip) by a brilliant woman!

upper lip hurts a LOT though!!

Thindog · 10/01/2026 11:10

Best way to get rid of pubic hairs?
Spit them out.

See this is where I think we're on shaky ground - I don't think it's okay to claim that those with hair have more smell or bacteria.
Even if you're shaved/waxed, you're not wiping urine or blood cleanly off - it's still there until you actually wash, and it's right on your skin.

I didn't say it was acceptable. I said it was different.
