Welcome to the Toast thread where we talk about what we love, (and what drives us mad 😹), about all things Toast.

As usual, pictures are welcomed, as are comments, questions and info about Toastie topics.

This is a very good point @TosstTastic!!

It is still so cold there am tempted to buy another knit. I don’t actually have very many having cleared out quite a few at the beginning of the season. Looking at the mohair cotton sweater in honey (the green would probably suit me better but I never wear green), and the lofty alpaca mix open cardigan in chestnut though I never wear brown. Does anyone have either and can sing their praises? Or do I just need to buy one of the cashmere wool wrap scarves and cocoon myself in that?

Hello, I have the mohair cotton sweater in green and absolutely love it. I was wearing it yesterday in fact. It can be dressed down with jeans or dressed up (as I did yesterday) for work when I wore it with a grey kilt. It is very fine knit but the balloon sleeves modernise it.

I also tried the lofty alpaca mix open cardigan when Uniform Research reduced it for some reason just after Christmas, but I sent it back. It is too similar to copped mohair Toast cardigans that I have in dark green and a golden colour, and I didn't like the shape and feel of it, almost like it was too small and wouldn't close (even though that is the purpose).

ToastCosILoveIt · 13/02/2026 17:43

I can see you have just tried it on in-store @ScottishMouse . I think the advantage of it is that it is thin, so not overwhelmingly hot. I love it so much that I am tempted by the golden coloured one too.

ToastCosILoveIt · 13/02/2026 17:53

I am keeping a little away from Toast at the moment. Last night I made an order from LF Markey - the Oslo striped top, the Grant denim chambray trousers (in 10 and 12 in case they come up big), the Lowe denim chambray jacket and the side pouch. It was the Lowe jacket that I have been eyeing up for ages. Their prices are competitive when compared with Toast. I own one of their jumpsuits from a few years back which I love. I will report back.

You are swaying me @ToastCosILoveIt. I may try the green and see how I feel about the colour. I wish they had it in navy or charcoal.

If they had it in navy, I would definitely be buying it!

clearsky · 13/02/2026 18:24

@ToastCosILoveIt love those Grant Denim Chambray trousers. Let us know how the sizing works out.

CakeAndJazz · 13/02/2026 18:25

I was wondering if anyone has the FM cream trainers with the cherry red accents? How versatile is the colour way? I do generally like a pop of red…I recently sold my light grey pair as I wanted something a bit more warm toned, but now am looking for a light coloured replacement.

AmethystMoonShine · 13/02/2026 19:09

@ScottishMouse I have the lofty alpaca cardigan and got it in the Uniform Research sale. I’ve got the green and it’s a beautiful colour. I’ve also got it in navy from a year or so ago. I wear them a lot. Super cosy. Mine is L and I’m a real life 12, it meets at the front. So I sized up as usually a M in Toast knitwear.
I am definitely eyeing up the chestnut colour.

faustina · 13/02/2026 20:02

@ToastCosILoveIt - I like that jacket very much. Please report back on how it looks

Snowyowl78 · 14/02/2026 10:18

Anyone tried the Pantry stripe shirt? Looks not too large, Jenny Sue Garcia was in the small on Instagram which makes me think I may need the L as a usual 12 in Toast. Also, the Frankie trench, probably I cannot buy this full price as it’s crazy pricey, but wondering if it’s even a contender for short folk. At 5’3 will I look silly? JSG suggests narrow on the shoulder so I’d probably size up in that too.

ScottishMouse · 14/02/2026 11:34

@Snowyowl78 i have tried the linen silk version of the pantry shirt and I felt like I was between M and L, I am usually M/12. The medium felt a little restrictive because the batwing sleeve meant when I raised my arms the whole shirt rose up too much. But the large felt a little long and it lost a little of the nice shape.
I have also tried the Frankie. The M was far too small on the shoulders/upper arms, but the L was a good fit. I am 5’2” and I would say it was a little too long but not comically so. Definitely worth a try I would say. I didn’t buy at the but i am still thinking about it.

Snowyowl78 · 14/02/2026 11:40

Thanks @ScottishMouse i probably need the large in the shirt then. I’d love to try the Frankie. So expensive though! I’m not sure it will go into the sale anytime soon as it’s a spring piece as well. If I try it at full price I know I’ll keep it!

ScottishMouse · 14/02/2026 11:53

@Snowyowl78 weirdly, I noticed that reviews were saying to size down in the shirt (reviews for the linen silk version anyway). I think it might be a piece that requires trying two sizes unfortunately.
i doubt the Frankie will ever see the sale. Before Christmas, the store staff were saying it was selling very well, so I can’t imagine there will be any/many left (apart from tiny sizes perhaps) by the summer sale, and I can’t see it appearing in any smaller sale before that.

Snowyowl78 · 14/02/2026 12:00

@ScottishMouse oh dear now is better buy it quick before it sells out! The video for the coat is really annoying. A millisecond of the top half of it, and then just shots of various lemons and garlic and the model throwing it over a chair.

mizu · 14/02/2026 17:34

Will there be a sale in the foreseeable? I remember 3 years ago when I was 50, I had TOAST vouchers for my birthday and bought a denim patch pocket skirt and brown wool (think it was called bracken?) cardigan in a sale.

Snowyowl78 · 14/02/2026 19:06

@mizu ive got 20th March email from last year

ToastCosILoveIt · 15/02/2026 11:52

Reporting back on my LF Markey order (which came very quickly, only ordered on Friday, arrived on Saturday). @clearsky , the jeans are lovely, the 10 is a good fit for me. However, I am sending them back because they are very similar to a pair I have from Cos (which they still sell, albeit I bought mine last summer), and also they are longer on me than the photo (i am 5ft 5 and they reach the ground, I could just about get away with not turning them up). They also have pockets on the hips which add a marginal bit of bulk, whereas the Cos ones have pockets set into the front and are beautifully slouchy.

@faustina the Lowe jacket is lovely and I’ll keep but unfortunately they sent me one with pulled stitching on the front which is super noticeable so I am having to exchange it which is a pain. It will be a versatile piece as shown on the model. I am a standard size 12 and the fit is good, I am looking forward to wearing it.

I am also keeping the Oslo top, I love that shade of green and it is a really good fit, fitted but not too much so, a much thicker fabric that I thought, feels double sided (white on the inside with green stripes). It looks great with denim.

Bimblesalong · 15/02/2026 14:45

That's a lovely jacket, @ToastCosILoveIt I keep going back to the Toast website to eye up the applique blue pea shoot jacket. I have a love of blue Toast clothes so it would layer up well - it's just sooooo expensive! Not sure what I'd need sizewise between M and L as I have narrow shoulders and long arms - hmmm!

faustina · 15/02/2026 14:48

That's a shame about having to exchange the jacket @ToastCosILoveIt - sounds like it will be worth it in the end though, and if you too have snow today, I don't expect you'll be reaching for it in the next few days!

ToastCosILoveIt · 15/02/2026 19:56

Looking at both the stripe pantry shirt and the navy linen/silk version, both are really lovely aren’t they, but a crazy price. If the cut and fit are right thought, I can see them being very flattering and very versatile with skirts, trousers and jeans. I thought the striped one looked great on Jenny Sue Garcia on Instagram. I know others upthread have tried them on - @Snowyowl78 and @ScottishMouse , and have provided good feedback, but has anyone actually bought either one?

No show here today @faustina but I am off to Malta in 10 days and think it will work well there as a throw on over trousers and dresses. I think it could work in winter over a slim cashmere jumper or the right dress.

clearsky · 15/02/2026 22:48

Thank you @ToastCosILoveIt . I think I will try the trousers. They may be a good length on me as I am 5ft 7½ . I’ll have a look on Cos too thanks for that idea.

Scotiasdarling · 16/02/2026 09:23

Could anyone give me some fashion advice please? I will be mother of the bridegroom this summer, I don't do polyester or pastels. I tried (twice) to discuss colours with the bride (normally the nicest person you could wish to join the family, recently morphed into bridezilla) so that I might not clash with bridesmaids or her mother. Apparently all of their outfits are state secrets until the day.

My other half' s response to this is to open the coffers wide, and says to wear whatever I like, even if it's a long white dress with a train! Anyway, what I have chosen is a black cotton Rundholz tulip dress, and I think the best jacket is the Toast neat cotton and linen jacket in parchment. The jacket stops before the skirt puffs out of that makes sense. Will everyone hate me for wearing black and cream? I have to say I tried not to, but now agree that I should suit myself. We all genuinely get on and I don't want to spoil that. I also don't want to spend a lot of money on clothes I'll never wear again. I hope Toast might get a suitable straw hat in before the summer (wedding is 'festival' type in a field basically) OH loved the jacket, but it may be because my hair is like Gwen the model's so I think he can picture me in it.

I should say the bridegroom, when very small and asked to write about his mummy said "my mummy wears strange clothes but I suppose she likes them"

Gonegrey31 · 16/02/2026 10:39

scotiasdarling I think that outfit sounds absolutely perfect ! I have the jacket and it is definitely cream , not a stark white, I don’t think you should have any concerns at all . The jacket is so versatile and will be a good investment. Love the description of the dress ! You will look fabulous! Enjoy the day

faustina · 16/02/2026 13:29

@Scotiasdarling black dress and ecru coat/jacket is exactly what I wore for one of my sons' weddings (none of it Toast) and as far as I know, none of the other guests hated me for it - in fact one of my DIL's brothers said I was 'fit' which I will take as a win 😂

@ToastCosILoveIt - have a wonderful time in Malta. I'm very envious!
