Welcome to the Toast thread where we talk about what we love, (and what drives us mad 😹), about all things Toast.

As usual, pictures are welcomed, as are comments, questions and info about Toastie topics.

I received my last sale order yesterday, the leaf colour vest and I’m keeping it. It’s a lovely kind of ‘old gold’ colour which works well for me and will be useful.
I’ve ordered the Olive coloured lofty alpaca cardigan from Uniform Research as it went down to almost the same price I paid for my navy one I got directly from Toast a year or two ago. Hoping the sizing hasn’t changed! Hoping it will go into the next Toast sale as I’d like the brown colour too but that wasn’t stocked by Uniform Research.

Abdnshireoutdoorsy · 20/01/2026 17:28

@faustina I have the cropped trousers and a two of the mum skirts from carrier company and love them and wear them all the time (I’ve had them for over five years). I’m very tempted by the Dutch cord trousers but I’m short legged and they do say they’re aimed at people a bit taller than me.

However I did get them to make me one of the skirts in a different colour (the tan colour they use for the workwear trousers) so I can vouch for the customisation and keep wondering if I should ask them about making a shorter pair.

faustina · 20/01/2026 18:29

@Abdnshireoutdoorsy - I was admiring the cords too, and that's very good news about possible leg length options! Hopefully my toast cords will keep me happy for the time being though.

CakeAndJazz · 20/01/2026 21:06

@Snowyowl78 just to say I managed the trainers in a 39 (saw them pop up on my wish list and messaged CS). From the FM website the sizing seems exactly the same as the other style, so am suspecting these will be too big on me.

IlovePond · 21/01/2026 14:57

I’m pleased to report that my refunds have come through quite promptly. My last sale order is due tomorrow. It would be lovely if at least one item lived up to expectations as I feel bad about sending so much back.

I am disappointed that Toast didn’t do a last minute restock, (they do usually- often on the last night), but they obviously couldn’t be bothered this year. It’s annoying as there were a couple of things I was hoping would come back in stock, as I had missed them at the beginning of the sale and I am sure that some were returned.

I could contact Toast via chat but then I would feel obligated to keep the items if they were available and I have no idea whether they would fit. Oh well, it’s not like I needed any of them! I am currently living in my wonderful M&S lounging trousers when not at work. I have two pairs! I really must wear other things at some point, but I love them so much as they are like wearing a giant hug!

I’ve been living in my brown barrel leg cords (non sale but Christmas present). I can’t believe I didn’t get brown trousers sooner in life!

ScallopShellWalk · 21/01/2026 15:16

My last order is also due tomorrow. I hadn’t really noticed these denim trousers much (Japanese slim) but now that they’re on their way I’m quite excited about them. If they don’t fit, which is highly likely, then I’ll find another pair another time.
I’ve felt quite guilt ridden by ordering and keeping it all. I considered sending back the recent ones not yet worn. In the end, I tried them all on today to be sure I did like them and I do, so I’m not sending anything back. I don’t have a lot of clothes to go out in so it’s nice to have some choice now. I’ll just not order much going forward.

@IlovePond what last order are you waiting on?

IlovePond · 21/01/2026 15:22

@ScallopShellWalk - I am glad you found some lovely things.

I have the Donegal tank coming, (which I hadn’t noticed at first - it must have been a restock when I saw it), plus the weird lopsided cord dress and the shapeless shift thing. I am cautiously optimistic about the tank top, but wondering what I was thinking on the other two!

I wish I had kept the grey check binding skirt now. I was quite poorly when it arrived so wasn’t really in the mood for trying things on. With hindsight it was by far the best of all my sale orders and I should’ve waited before sending it back.

No regrets about returning the rest, though- still shuddering at the horror that was the way I looked in some of those trousers 😹

Am I correct in remembering you had tried some trousers with low crotch? @IlovePond
I had experience of this, just before the sale, with a pair of reworn blue small check crinkle cotton ones. I could not fathom it out. I have never come across trousers like this in my life. No humming and haing over them. Took them off as quickly as I could without tripping over.
I was also horrified with the second pair of trousers in that order, black and white horizontal stripe. I never knew my bum could look so bad, made my shape look comical but I certainly wasn’t laughing. 😱
I won’t try similar to either again.
What trousers did you encounter horrors in? It’d be good to know what to avoid.

ScallopShellWalk · 21/01/2026 15:53

@IlovePond the Donegal tank, is it the black one with flecks? If it is I have this and wear it a lot.

IlovePond · 21/01/2026 15:59

@ScallopShellWalk - the mineral check cotton ones - the crotch was almost to my knees! Also the cord Gabis - far too long and baggy for me in the crotch area and I looked like a barrage balloon in them!

The Japanese so-called slim trousers didn’t have the low crotch but were just too long and huge and baggy everywhere except on the waist, (which fitted). Again, I looked awful in them.

I do have two pairs of (quite poor quality), thin linen summer trousers - same style, different colours, which fit well when I first got them. However, they went shapeless and baggy very quickly and are not really suitable for anything nowadays except pottering round the garden. (I tried wearing the black pair for work in the summer and got some disapproving looks as they are just so scruffy- looking.)

Tbf, virtually none of Toast’s trousers suit me but I know lots of people do look nice in them. I haven’t got the right body shape for them, I think.

I think the cut of the wool/cotton trousers would probably be better for me, but it would be a cold day in hell before I bought dry clean only trousers!

I think Ruskin have the binding skirt in some sizes left in their sale @IlovePond .
And I agree refunds have been prompt.
i have used my voucher on the brown check linen trousers. I loved the navy ones last year so 🤞🏻 I know they are something I would wear . (And the rest of the new drop was so disappointing for me)

IlovePond · 21/01/2026 16:06

Thanks @Countmeout

You’re not alone @IlovePond with your Toast trouser bad luck…. I must have tried dozens over the years and so few have ever looked nice on me. I have a few I’ve kept and then sold on as I’ve realised despite my optimism they really don’t work for me.
Some I do keep and wear but they often look okay at the point I put them on but as they day wears on they look daft as they bag at the knees and bum or go baggy on my tummy and I look so scruffy 🙄 Don’t get me started on the low crutches. Goodness knows what shape I’d need to be for them to look nice. Clearly not my shape though 😂
It won’t stop me keeping on trying though….🤪

IlovePond · 21/01/2026 16:42

Hope springs eternal @AmethystMoonShine 😹

Got a last order today. Gia shirt way better than expected and the perfect fit in a 12- bargain! Also the Baya shirt in the flower fan print, lovely! I really like the Baya shirt shape on me. Kaia cardigan a hit as expected as I already have it in a sample orange. Donegal red stripe tank better than expected and the large fit me which I’m pleased about. So all hits!

Snowyowl78 · 21/01/2026 18:03

@CakeAndJazz thats interesting have you got them yet? The reviews were very contradictory!

ToastCosILoveIt · 21/01/2026 19:07

@ScallopShellWalk , I did indeed order the dappled leaves print dress in a last minute FOMO and paid next day delivery for it in a moment of forgetfulness that I was away from home for 36 hours at a conference. It has arrived and I am on the train coming home so I will get to see it later :). I also ordered the Kate Sheridan Cotton Bow Waxed Bag which, in theory, will work very well in my life, and the Mock Neck Cotton Hemp Sweater which I tried on in store before Christmas and regretted not buying.

ScallopShellWalk · 21/01/2026 19:44

@ToastCosILoveIt I thought that dress looked quite lovely. I couldn’t carry it off as I hardly wear print but I liked the colours. I hope it delights you when you get home. What fun to come home to parcels.
I would like now a large carry bag. The waxed bags and the leather ones looked great. I didn’t get one but I hope you enjoy yours.
It’s nice to get another opportunity to get items looked at in store.
I bought a bleu de chauffe bag direct from France after seeing the ones online. I got it in navy (and it was on less money).
I wish Toast kept a permanent sale/archive online section like other ethical and environmentally conscious companies do. That way we could choose to buy across the year rather than only at a sale frenzy. The clothes would sell, less waste and restocks wouldn’t sit around till next time. There’d be less overspending in one month. It’s more responsible in my mind.

ToastCosILoveIt · 21/01/2026 19:53

@ScallopShellWalk, thank you, nearly home now!

I agree re keeping an archive online, less of a sales frenzy and more likely to shift old stock over time.

In other Toast news, I’m wearing the shadow print cotton silk dress today, a bargain in the sale at £195. A work colleague lushed after it, but a woman on the train also approached me to say what a lovely print and shape it was. I saw her do a double take, lovely when a stranger comments, has happened to me before when wearing Toast.

ScallopShellWalk · 21/01/2026 20:06

@ToastCosILoveIt ❤️❤️❤️
is that the still one? It’s very striking and looked amazing online when it was in shadows. Looked like light and shadow were cast onto the dress. Toast do have nice patterns. You must look good in it, catching people’s eye.

OftenOrange · 21/01/2026 23:10

@ScallopShellWalk I hope you like the Japanese denim trousers, I bought them and don’t find them oversized or baggy , however I hate tight trousers and am used to wearing wideleg jeans .
They just look quite polished and the ankle crop is flattering with boots as well as sandals . The deep indigo is lovely too.

ScottishMouse · 22/01/2026 06:00

I also really struggle with Toast trousers. I used to love Alix and Gabi but they no longer work for me. I currently only have one Toast pair of trousers that I still wear - the linen check ones with the pockets on the legs. I keep looking at Beyond Nine trousers, and would like to try a few options, but I have idea about their sizing. Can anyone give me pointers based on Toast trousers sizing? I am a S usually in Toast trousers with elasticated waists (I tend to avoid the fixed waist trousers) - what size/sizes should I try in Beyond Nine? Thanks!!

Snowyowl78 · 22/01/2026 08:11

Hello @ScottishMouse BN trousers are big because they are also for pregnant people. I generally take a Small on Mabel but a medium on Huxley. Except the Jersey Huxley which are massive! I take a 12 or 10 in Gabis.

AmethystMoonShine · 22/01/2026 09:17

@ScottishMouse I am a M in Huxley in Beyond Nine. I’m generally a 12 in Toast trousers unless they are particularly slim cut (rare!). I have the navy linen Huxley trousers and a matching top and love them. I plan to invest in another set this summer. Good quality and have washed well so far too.
