Welcome to the Toast thread where we talk about what we love, (and what drives us mad 😹), about all things Toast.

As usual, pictures are welcomed, as are comments, questions and info about Toastie topics.

@Snowyowl78 , yes, 12, occasionally a 10 or a small in some things, but that is more Toast sizing than me.

ShrankLastWinter · 18/01/2026 16:14

@Theteapotsbrokenspout I’m also keen to read your review of the railroad skirt! Specifically, could you possibly post the waist measurement? I’m trying to decide which size to order. Thank you!

IlovePond · 18/01/2026 17:58

I’m disappointed by the lack of restocking during this sale - Toast used to restock items regularly during the sale period, but for the last couple of years it’s as if they just can’t be bothered. (See also the really long delays in posting out purchases.)

I haven’t really found anything worth buying in the last few Toast sales - I am wondering if Toast are feeling that sales are ‘beneath’ them nowadays and not worth the effort 🤷‍♀️

I hope that’s not the reason. It’s good to make sure clothes that are made are used.

ThePieceHall · 18/01/2026 21:06

I’ve had a last sales punt, the Sturlini lace-up boots in black. I tend to favour the Fracap boots but the leather looks like quality and the reviews are good.

They look fabulous - I'm now trying a no buy rest of the year - wish me luck 😂

ToastCosILoveIt · 19/01/2026 09:23

Good morning, did anyone order this dress in the sale (or at full price) and what is the verdict. It is just the sort of dress I love from Toast but not sure the colours will work for me.

I’m always a bit suspicious when the boots are not sold out!

@Saurus72 @ShrankLastWinter feedback on the Railroad skirt:

this arrived this morning and I am really pleased with it. I’m a 12 and I would say it is true to size, although I probably still have some Christmas weight to lose. The flat front with elastic across the back is more comfortable than a fully elasticated waist, and prevents the excess fabric at the hips that gives the 'poof' effect.
I did try using the adjustable waist tabs but I think it sits much better without trying to tighten it on the tabs.

The waist unstretched is 74cm and stretches to 92cm. It is almost ankle length on me at 5' 4”. I think it is a nice weight of cotton that can be useful most of the year. Definitely a keeper for me.

ToastCosILoveIt · 19/01/2026 09:55

Great review @Theteapotsbrokenspout , that looks like a lovely piece.

Countmeout · 19/01/2026 10:51

Final sale parcel of the Deco trousers arrived. I swear they are nothing like the first pair. The colours seem different and the fabric more silky. 🤔
Going back.

Great info about the skirt @Theteapotsbrokenspout .

ScallopShellWalk · 19/01/2026 13:57

That’s a shame @Countmeout about the deco trousers especially after having the drawn out wait for them.

@ToastCosILoveIt wondering if you ordered the dress.

@ThePieceHall I too had a last sales punt yesterday with the Japanese cotton slim jeans. If they fit it will be a good buy for me but it’s not often trousers/jeans fit. I hope you like your boots. They look good.

Today my overdyed blue Kantha jacket arrived and it’s great. Mainly blue inside and out which I was hoping for with some leaves showing through in a khaki/olive shade which is what I would have chosen if I could. No other colour, which I think if there had been anything bright it would have possibly had me doubt keeping it. So couldn’t be more what I wanted. Yeah!

Saurus72 · 19/01/2026 14:45

@ToastCosILoveIt - sorry I missed your post re: dapple dress. I bought this full price back in the autumn and I like it. It’s my usual Toast dress size medium (curvy size 14). My husband loves it on me which is nice! It’s a slightly silky fabric, good for day to night.

@Theteapotsbrokenspout - thanks for the update it sounds really lovely. I’m in Cambridge in a couple of weeks so will try it on then.

The Deco silk/cotton gown (original price £345 😆) arrived. It’s quite nice but nowhere near as sumptuous and luxurious as I was expecting. Even using a gift voucher and the vastly reduced price of £135 doesn’t make me want to keep it. I fully expect to be banished from Kindred this month which in all honesty I won’t mind.

mizu · 19/01/2026 15:41

@Theteapotsbrokenspout that skirt looks and sounds like a real wardrobe staple.

I have not worn the binding check skirt yet as I have no idea what to wear with it…….and am thinking that perhaps that railroad skirt might be a nicer option!

Countmeout · 19/01/2026 15:45

I am wearing the binding skirt today @mizu . I have on a chalk Lea t shirt and a pumpkin Mira sweater.

mizu · 19/01/2026 15:48

@Countmeout that sounds lovely- I was thinking of an orange or lime green jumper with it. But have neither! There was a lovely green TOAST jumper on Vinted the other day but it went immediately as was being sold at a decent price.

ScottishMouse · 19/01/2026 16:23

Does anyone have this? How do you tie it? It arrived last week, I tried it with a shirt and with a tee underneath and it looked great, it is right up my street. But….i was going to wear it to work today and ended up not doing so as I couldn’t figure out how to tie it so it looked good and sat right. I like it left loose with the ties just tied at the front (non-wrap style), but the side ties hang down long and nothing can be done with them. And when I try to do the wrap, the inside ties make a big lump on one side of my stomach as the ties are wide and long, and the front kind of pulls weirdly at both sides. I have tried looser and tighter and neither looks or feels good. I love it, but if it is just going to annoy me, I will never reach for it.
The reviews are all positive, and it is sold out in all but the smallest size, so it must be a winner. Am I the only one confused as to how to wear it best?

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 19/01/2026 16:45

For everyone interested in the railroad skirt I just realised the sizing is SML , I ordered the M so my review is based on that for a size 12.

mizu · 19/01/2026 16:56

@ScottishMouse I can’t help you but oh it is beautiful, I can see why it’s sold out.

My patch pocket dungarees in a 12 arrived and I 🩵 them. They are a keeper.

ShrankLastWinter · 19/01/2026 20:36

Thank you @Theteapotsbrokenspout! That’s really helpful.

Like @Saurus72 i’ll be in Cambridge in a few weeks so I’ll try it on then!

Or maybe I’ll just order it. My waist is 74cm so I suppose it should be about right in M.

faustina · 20/01/2026 12:19

The raised stripe peashoot shirt arrived and went straight back yesterday - it was unsurprisingly a bit tight but I also didn't like the neckline and I have finally decided to keep the barrel leg cords after much debate. I've worn them twice now and am actually really happy with them. The waist seems much better constructed than that on the cord gabis - much neater and I don't think it's possible for the elastic to twist. They're just short enough on me to work

Does anyone else get emails from the Carrier Company? They have some really lovely trousers

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 20/01/2026 13:33

@faustina I visited the Carrier Company last year, they’re outside Holt so not too far from me. I tried on quite a few items but several appeared to be unisex so the cut was wrong for me and I struggled with sizing. They do have some nice pieces but nothing really worked on me.

faustina · 20/01/2026 13:46

@Theteapotsbrokenspoutthanks - yes I’ve wondered that in the past, but they seem to have more women’s styles now

OftenOrange · 20/01/2026 15:21

The Binding check shirt arrived from Uniforn Research , it’s a good fit in my usual size so I’ll keep the Binding skirt too .
Somehow black and white checks I find more flattering than block black or white.
They look understated and quite uneventful as a set on me , but as they feel comfy and I love the fabric , that’s fine.
I’m already wearing the shirt with black cord dungarees, it’s going to be really useful.
As far as pairing the skirt with other things , I like it with quite fitted short jumper shapes, maybe the Kaia cardigan in russet .
I generally find black quite hard to wear with colour and usually prefer neutrals .
