Welcome to the Toast thread where we talk about what we love, (and what drives us mad 😹), about all things Toast.

As usual, pictures are welcomed, as are comments, questions and info about Toastie topics.

@IlovePond were those the Mineral trousers? I sized down to small and the still looked dreadful. They have had some good reviews but I can’t imagine them fitting anyone. I have a long body to leg, and they pull up to under my bust. If they aren’t pulled up high then loads of fabric flapping around the crotch. A shame as I liked the fabric

IlovePond · 17/01/2026 00:05

@MsDastardley - I think it was the mineral trousers - check pattern - that were like clown pants on me!

@OftenOrange it was the Japanese denim £120 in the sale that fitted on the waist but were ludicrously long, shapeless and baggy everywhere else!

I really need to give up on Toast trousers - they just don’t suit my short legs, unfortunately.

@IlovePond Oh, I bought those and quite like them . The new sculpted doodah denims are real clown pants on me .
I think I may give up on Toast jeans now, I love my Annie jeans and have several pairs but I’m thinking a return to Levi 501 for something really classic may be nice.

clearsky · 17/01/2026 11:14

Oh dear, I do want to try the new sculpted doodah denims. Maybe they will work in me. I am 173cm tall. I love Annies, I have the regular and long versions which are very long.

Have you tried the Suki trouser? They are comfy on the waist but not too wide on the hips or thighs. I now have three pairs of the wool/cotton pair in midnight, £90 instead of £235, and beautiful fabric. I’m a size 10-12 but I opt for the size L as I can’t bear trousers that fit where they touch. I wear them every day in winter in the way that other people wear jeans (I personally find jeans too uncomfortable and I now can’t cope with button fastenings).

ScottishMouse · 17/01/2026 15:14

Tried on the navy alpaca knitted wrap cardi again this morning and I think unfortunately I love it. It is now oos in my size, which makes me want to keep it even more - ridiculous fomo way of thinking. I don’t think I can keep the golden honey mohair sweater too, so that one might have to go back, even though I love the shape and colour. 🤔

MiracleToast · 17/01/2026 15:49

I love the look of that wrap cardi @ScottishMouse I absolutely love how they styled it with the stripe buttoned up shirt and check trousers. Such a good look in my opinion

ScottishMouse · 17/01/2026 16:29

I agree @MiracleToast. It looks equally good over the ink aster top and a Breton stripe tee too. It will definitely be useful, probably more so than the mohair sweater. Does anyone else have the wrap top and how do you wear it?

ScottishMouse · 17/01/2026 16:33

I also ordered the new linen silk wrap shirt, despite my laughing at the ridiculous care instructions. I wanted to cross it off my wish list, but trying it was foolish. It is stunning. So flattering, gorgeous shape, also works open as a jacket, great neckline, great colour for me. I don’t do dry cleaning. Has anyone ever washed a silk linen piece from a previous season and it come out ok? It would be an occasional wear item, but I still want to be able to clean it easily enough.

IlovePond · 17/01/2026 17:32

I haven’t tried the Suki @ThePieceHall - maybe I will give them a try at some point, but any trousers I buy have to survive regular washing in the machine so any wool blends are out.

I have short legs and I think Toast’s trousers, (like a lot of their clothes), are designed for tall women with long legs and longer waists/hips. There’s no way I am getting away with those dropped crotches so I just need to give up on those nice checked trousers 😿

My bigger size in the Deco trousers has gone all over the place. It somehow got to Heathrow from Cardiff and is now in Greenford. I will not hold my breath.

Snowyowl78 · 18/01/2026 09:03

Sale ends tomorrow! Bit annoying as they haven’t done a final restock or final reductions.

ScallopShellWalk · 18/01/2026 09:46

Yes I find it a shame they haven’t restocked. I was hoping for the denim dress in my size tho it’s possible my size hasn’t been there this sale I’d still like the hope 😆

IlovePond · 18/01/2026 09:46

Thanks @Snowyowl78 - looks like it’s just one bauble for me, then! There are a few things I am interested in but OOS in my size 🤷‍♀️

OP posts:
faustina · 18/01/2026 10:18

I wonder why no final reductions?

ScottishMouse · 18/01/2026 11:12

The further markdowns came about a week later this year than they did last year, so maybe they decided not to reduce further again this year. I’d like the understand the reasoning behind the % markdown on things though. Some things were over 50% off from day one of the sale (eg the silk cotton tie neck shirt), but some have never got down to 50% off. 🤷‍♀️
I’ve decided to be sensible and send back the silk linen wrap shirt. I will look out for it in a sale, but at full price the washing risk is too high. Keeping the wrap cardi, the fracap sandals, and perhaps the mohair sweater (all full price). My grand sale total was a £22 trivet!

ScallopShellWalk · 18/01/2026 12:28

I’m tempted now. 🤪 with the Japanese denim jeans. They look nice. I did notice them before but I really need to try jeans on as my hips are narrow. So I could send them back if no good and only one day left.

ScallopShellWalk · 18/01/2026 12:34

I’ve ordered the Japanese jeans. Price is fine and I wanted dark denim jeans. I’ll forget about the denim dress now. These will be more useful.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 18/01/2026 14:03

I’ve ended up with a lot less than I thought I’d bought in the sale:
Kantha waistcoat
Embroidered mini stripe dress (sent back the shirt in the end)
Grey melange pyjamas
Pair socks
and a skirt I may send back depending on the Railroad skirt , which is arriving tomorrow.
I did also buy the full price blue quilted trousers this month which I’m really pleased with.

Reporting back on the new indigo cotton twill jumpsuit: I am wearing it as I type, having worn it yesterday all day too for an event at the British Library on David Bowie In Time. It is super comfy, true to size, fairly substantial in weight so very much a spring/autumn piece, winter too with something underneath.

Do I look like Gwen when I am wearing it? Probably not, but the drawstring waist does allow you to pull the waist in and make it look sharper. I have also folded back the sleeves to the width of the sleeve hems as the sleeves are a generous length. I like the slightly raised collar to the neck, looks neat.

I am 5ft 5 and the legs are just full length on me. It is a really comfortable piece to wear, you forget you’re wearing it which is surely a good test to meet.

Saurus72 · 18/01/2026 14:30

@Theteapotsbrokenspout - I would love to hear your thoughts on the railroad stripy skirt when it arrives please, it looks beautiful and potentially not too poofy over the hips which is always my issue.

Late last week when more reductions went up I ordered the silk-linen gown. I had a gift voucher for Christmas which helped, and the reviews say it’s properly long which my other Toast cotton gown, though lovely, isn’t. I have high hopes - original price was £345 though, I mean what in the world?!?

Snowyowl78 · 18/01/2026 14:43

@ToastCosILoveIt thanks for the review! I am coveting this jumpsuit to add to my large collection of toast indigo jumpsuits! What’s the sizing like?

AFingerofFudge · 18/01/2026 14:53

I have done pretty well with the sale …. Will need to start looking at what to sell off to pay off the PayPal credit use!

The mohair cardigan is staying - still expensive at sale price, but it looked fabulous on, and is soft and cosy. I am not very sensitive to fabrics which helps.

I have kept the painted twill skirt and top set as a potential wedding outfit for later in the year.

The wool cashmere dress which is again pretty expensive even in the sale, but is so comfy and flattering and am very happy with it.

I have one more order arriving tomorrow, which is a few “speculative” items that were further reduced: the dappled leaves dress, the seersucker boxy shirt, the linen cotton waistcoat the a linen tank. I’m not actually expecting to keep any of them!

So although I will probably only keeping 4 items, they’re all particularly expensive!

@ToastCosILoveIt thanks for the review! I am coveting this jumpsuit to add to my large collection of toast indigo jumpsuits! What’s the sizing like?

Hi @Snowyowl78 , I would say the sizing is pretty much true to size. I am a standard size 12 and the 12 fits well, roomy but not too big. I don’t think a 10 would have fitted. I too love a Toast jumpsuit, not universally as some of them don’t suit me, but this one is a keeper.

Snowyowl78 · 18/01/2026 15:04

@ToastCosILoveIt thanks! Are you normally a Toast 12?
@AFingerofFudge the linen waistcoat is lovely. I had to size up to a 14 for it.
