Welcome to the Toast thread where we talk about what we love, (and what drives us mad 😹), about all things Toast.

As usual, pictures are welcomed, as are comments, questions and info about Toastie topics.

I got the raised stripe shirt in peashoot in a sale way back, but returned it because it was quite large, So if you ordered a size smaller that our usual, you will probably be ok.

Thank you! It's already been despatched, so fingers crossed!

Snowyowl78 · 16/01/2026 07:03

@CakeAndJazz i was holding out for the trainers too although I was hoping they’d go down in price a bit! Were you planning to size up or not? The reviews are very mixed on sizing!
all the other things I was waiting to be reduced further haven’t been- the mohair cardigan, the trainers and the gold silk shirt although that was already very discounted.

CakeAndJazz · 16/01/2026 10:20

@Snowyowl78 I was hoping for my usual size that I also have in the other style FM trainers. I do have quite narrow feet, so am hoping it would work. They are still so expensive, but if they’re as comfortable as the other style I’d be pleased. What size are you after - I’ll be keeping an eye out so can let you know if I spot your size?

Snowyowl78 · 16/01/2026 10:24

@CakeAndJazz im a 37. the current FMs I own are a 37 and they are quite large but I was debating the 38 as some people were saying they are too small! But others say that they are too big! I would like them to go to £150 really. If I want to wear them for proper walking I should probably go larger.

OftenOrange · 16/01/2026 10:32

After a slow start it seems that a lot of us found some great buys in the sale.
I’m expecting a Binding Check skirt today after reading so many positive reviews, but will have to source a shirt in 6 or 8 to match if I want to keep it .
Those with the Binding shirt , is it very long and oversized?
The long length shirts don’t suit me , the Taro is ridiculous but can be tucked in, but I like the look of the Binding worn outside the skirt.

I had a refund of 0.01 pence just now!

IlovePond · 16/01/2026 10:49

@Niminy - as a short person myself I find Toast’s wide trousers too wide usually. Those denim culottes do look nice, though, so it might be worth giving them a go!

Well, I finally cracked and bought another Xmas bauble! It arrived in a battered Marketplace box that looked like it had been reused from another company. It was very odd. At £8 it’s staying and has been added to the Toast decs stash!

I am expecting sale orders today but they have been ages in transit and I am not hopeful.

I’m sort of regretting sending back the binding skirt.

I’m also expecting sale items today but they were also expected yesterday and the day before. So who knows. Would be nice though.

Primrosespaw · 16/01/2026 11:29

Well that was a pretty good sale for me. I am determined to only go for sale items if possible this year as things have got very expensive.
Keepers
Ecru kantha waistcoat
Cobalt workwear jacket
Slate brown velvet jacket
Some beautiful paper decorations
Shadow silk and cotton scarf
Patch long-sleeved t shirt in white
Sent back
Velvet dress in ballerina - really crumpled not the right colour which never looks accurate on my screen and really off sizing.
I am officially over the sale now. I am fed up of looking at it! Looking forward to the next one, unless I crack and pick up something from the new drop. There are a couple of jumpers I like, but drawers are stuffed with Toast jumpers and cardigans.
Hope that you have all found some lovely stuff!

BettinaInDenmark · 16/01/2026 11:54

Does any of you have the Kantha Tweed jacket?

I'm a bit in love with it, and now the price is almost ok - 380 Euro. But I am concerned about the size. I would normalle take an XL, but being a shortie I am a bit scared by how people mention the ultra-long sleeves. And sometimes Toast jackets are just biiiiig.

Anyone with experience of the jacket?

(Today wearing my new Dappled Leaves shirt and new Alix cotton wool houndstooth trousers, together with an old blue Toast cotton velvet jacket. Feeling well dressed, and happy that it goes with Doc Martens lace-up shoes).

clearsky · 16/01/2026 12:51

@BettinaInDenmark the Kantha tweed jacket is now reduced to £245. I’m not sure how many euros that is but I think less than €380. I was hoping for a bigger reduction especially as it is still available in all sizes. It’s still a bit too expensive I think. I saw in once in store and it was beautiful but I didn’t try it on. I worry that the threads would pull easily.

ScottishMouse · 16/01/2026 13:14

I had a last sale punt which arrived today. The red striped Donegal tank is lovely but there was only L left and it is too big. Probably won’t bother stalking the site for M though. The heathery wool sweater in ginger is too similar to something I already have so that’s going back too.
I also ordered some full-price items - new-ish fine mohair cotton sweater in golden honey. It’s a lovely shape but I am not sure if the colour drains me. I need to try it in a few lights to see. I have a pretty lean knitwear drawer at the moment, but I don’t know if this one is worth the £££. Also the wool alpaca navy kimono wrap cardi thing. I really can’t decide if this looks good or a bit meh. I need to try it with some more things. Does anyone have it? And finally the fracap Ola sandals in olive. I am a 5.5 and tried these previously in 38, but they were a smidge too neat to be comfy for all day strolling. The 39 is better but I wonder if they will feel too big if they stretch a lot. Reviews are mixed as to sizing. Anyone gone up a (half) size in them and regretted this?

No, unfortunately the EU price is 380 Euro at the moment.

The way Toast figure out GBP to Euro is 1.5xGBP, and then a bit of round up.

I guess I should try to wait and see if there will be the usual "Final mark down" ;)

OftenOrange · 16/01/2026 13:26

Loving the Binding Check skirt that just arrived , no sign of my size in the shirt but found one on Uniform Research for £25 more .
Now kicking myself….

Popplebop · 16/01/2026 13:33

@ScottishMouse my Fracap Olas have a little bit of give in them after a few wears but not lengthways- more I have to tighten the buckle.
I have just received the new drop sculpted indigo denim trousers - they are too baggy and too long in my suggested size sadly. I had tried last season’s Japanese twisted seam version in the size down but they didn’t fit either! However the new version feels more cardboardy and not as structural if that makes sense?

ScallopShellWalk · 16/01/2026 13:41

My sale parcels did get delivered today.
I really really like the navy organic cotton buttoned dress. At first I thought it’s big but the belt had it look just lovely. I ordered a size xsmall, a size that’s often too small, as that’s all there was and I’m really glad I did.
The salt white kantha top arrived. I love it actually. Funny how some things have your eyes open up wide, this top did that for me. I’m going to see if it works with some of my clothes.

I also had one of the yellow/lime cushions. This is lovely too. So that’ll take me into my garden to sit on my chairs. Together with my cashmere wrap, which has been on again today (old woman indeed!)

The only thing I’ve sent back were closed clogs that sadly didn’t fit. Hopefully someone else will enjoy them.

Now only waiting on the kantha indigo jacket.

One more thing I’d still like is the/a denim dress but I won’t buy anything more. I’ll also look at a pair of linen trousers some time at a later date. I’d like to stop at that if possible for a while. I’ll window shop. 😃

ScottishMouse · 16/01/2026 13:42

Thanks @Popplebop, yes it will be the ankle strap/heel strap that might give too much. At the moment I already have them on the tightest hole (despite having quite a wide foot), but I guess another hole could always be added.

ScottishMouse · 16/01/2026 13:47

Two questions for the knitters/yarn enthusiasts…
I have a sweater with a ribbed hem that has stretched a bit and has that kind of wavy look about it, due to larger than wanted stomach! Is there a way to shrink this back to where it was without washing the whole sweater? Will it work if I were to just wet the ribbed hem and let dry?
The mohair cotton sweater has left hairs all over the black tee I tried it on over. Not a deal breaker perhaps, but is there a trick to stop mohair shedding? Freezer perhaps?
Thank you wise ones!

CakeAndJazz · 16/01/2026 14:43

@Snowyowl78 sizing up actually makes sense for lots of walking (with thick/comfy socks), very good point. I’ll let you know if a 38 pops up, and will be hoping for a 39 for myself - fingers crossed! Though £150 would be a lot better than £195 too…

Snowyowl78 · 16/01/2026 14:57

@ScottishMouse oh dear I’ve got that stripe tank on the way too in a Large. It is wide on the shoulders?

Snowyowl78 · 16/01/2026 14:58

@CakeAndJazz there was a 39 a few days ago, maybe they will send it back! Also worth checking with CS after the sale if they have any returns as they will still send them.

ScottishMouse · 16/01/2026 15:09

Yes @Snowyowl78 just a little too large on the shoulders and overall really. I have the new cashmere wool tank in a large but that works because it is thinner. I think the stripe one needs to be a bit neater, but that is just personal preference, so don’t lose hope until you try it!

IlovePond · 16/01/2026 16:26

Hi, all my latest orders arrived and are now going straight back to Toast 😿

Japanese trousers: Fitted on the waist but were too long and ridiculously baggy in the leg. They reminded me of a truly terrible pair I bought aged 14 for £2 that I got for work in a cafe 🙀

Brass top: Nice colour but both too big and too small - just a weird fit

Novestas: The canvas was covered in gum and they were too big

Check cotton trousers: Huge and the crotch was laughably low and baggy

Looks like my total for this sale is going to be one blue bauble!

I hate sending so much back. It’s ridiculous that Toast doesn’t have sale stock in its shops!

Not ordered anything since the 2nd Jan when extra styles first added but enjoying reading about your sales successes.

I wore the blue A line canvas coat when the weather turned mild for a few days and felt great in it.

OftenOrange · 16/01/2026 18:52

I took returns to a store this afternoon and took the chance to try on the new drop Sculpted indigo denim trousers.
maybe those are the ones you were just talking about @IlovePond ?
Anyway, a definite no for me , they are very exaggerated barrel shape and didn’t suit me at all . They fitted beautifully on waist and hips but the side and back view really highlighted my lack of posterior!
