Welcome to the Toast thread where we talk about what we love, (and what drives us mad 😹), about all things Toast.

As usual, pictures are welcomed, as are comments, questions and info about Toastie topics.

The round mohair cardi is not going back. It will just have to become the unofficial work uniform. I loved it as soon as I put it on, and didn't want to take it off which is a good sign. I was quite liking the thought of the refund back in my bank account, but oh well! I think the brown buttons look very smart against the charcoal, and I love the sleeves, despite the fact that they're tricky to get a coat over. I didn't need to size up after all, which I'd expected as it wasn't a generous fit on either of my work colleagues, and I got the large in the lofty cardigan, when I'm usually a Toast small or medium.

ScallopShellWalk · 11/01/2026 14:40

@OrangeyLemon that sounds great that you liked the cardigan so much and it fits well. I thought it looked nice. I’m glad it’ll fit in with your work. Always a pleasure when you find clothes that offer all that.

AFingerofFudge · 11/01/2026 14:41

@OrangeyLemon your post made me laugh because I also ordered the mohair cardigan, put it on, and immediately said “shit” to myself in the mirror as I loved it!!

I had “only” bought the wool dress (£150) and sent everything else back, however I also took delivery of the painted tweed skirt and top set that had come back into stock last week and had decided to hang onto them as a “back up” outfit for DS1’s wedding later this year. It’s quite an informal affair and so it might work really well, especially if (knowing me) I get into a panic closer to the date and can’t find anything.

So my relatively low spend sale is not going so well!

AmethystMoonShine · 11/01/2026 15:30

The oxblood Sturlini boots arrived yesterday and they are staying. They’re beautiful quality and such a great colour.
I have also kept the delft & ecru striped long sleeve tee, which is a much heavier weight than I expected but this is good as it’ll be good for spring and autumn.
I’m just waiting on the black Sturlini ankle boots and a scarf.
I am surprised there have been no further reductions yet as others have said.
I’m not sure about a nautical theme next? I have a dress in a very dark navy blue from a few years ago with a sailor style square collar, so there was definitely some nod to the sea in recent times. Not my favourite aesthetic though, it can look a bit dressing up/costume if not careful I think.
I’m currently enjoying my Toast jumpers in this cold spell we’re having. I’m busily justifying the money I’ve spent with each day that passes 😂

OftenOrange · 11/01/2026 16:24

I didn’t find the red white and blue stripey things in store had a nautical vibe, more Hellenic ……wear for early morning painting in your olive grove

Mine too. I also recently took up crochet so this was my Shetland (not) knitting last season. (Magic Circles by Janie Crow).

That's beautiful 😍

Leftsidefacing · 10/01/2026 19:58

@ScallopShellWalk Tosh’s clothes arw certainly better than they were in previous seasons. Black jeans and a black bomber jacket with a blue tartan shirt under it….alll season.

I see what you mean about the RAM scarves, it seems the pictures on the website are ‘reference only’ and if you can’t pop into the shop in Lerwick you have to contact them to discuss colours and buy.

The actress was pregnant !

I like DI Ruth Calder’s wardrobe on ‘Shetland’..but I then I would as I live in Northern Scotland and that’s almost exactly how I dress.

I believe the wardrobe mistress/buyer (I don’t know what her job title is) for Shetland is very active on S&B and DI Calder’s clothes have been extensively catalogued on other threads.

I am also a fan of DI Calder’s wardrobe. The Shetland snood, worn by DI Tosh, is available from Rove.

Stunning!
dd taught herself to crochet during lockdown - am going to show her this!
she then taught herself to knit and made me two Toast inspired items:
a merino wool bandana and a waistcoat. I bought the cream/oatmeal waistcoat in plain knit from Toast and Dd made me another in navy.

My first sale success (for me!) is the peachy pink double cotton pyjamas. I’ve had my eye on these for ages and was so excited to see them hit the sale. Ordered both the M and L as wanted to be sure I got them. Keeping the L as although probably a little on the baggy side I’m much happier in oversized. And I always remember the toast sales assistant who said always go up one size in pyjamas! So soft and now I would like them in an ecru/white and none of my older toast pyjamas can live up to them. Yes, they are quite thin as the reviews say but truly wonderfully soft and I love the turn ups with the stripe. Does anyone else have them?

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 11/01/2026 20:01

@MiracleToast I have some double faced pyjamas from a previous sale in a L, as that’s all that was left and they are really comfortable. I am waiting for the grey melange ones from this sale, I’ve also ordered in a M and L so I can compare sizes.

MiracleToast · 11/01/2026 20:04

Thats exciting @Theteapotsbrokenspout I hope they make it to you soon! They are just so soft! Ordering two sizes in this sale was a great idea with the slow dispatches. The grey looked beautiful too 🩶

CheeseonToast2026 · 11/01/2026 16:32

The actress was pregnant !

I don’t see why that meant she had to wear exactly the same outfit for months.

TosstTastic · 11/01/2026 21:37

One pregnancy, I was down to two vest tops, a stretched cardigan, dh'shirts and a pair of Old Town trousers that I buttoned the front panel so it extended under my belly.
The day the whole lot went in the rag bag was joyous, I'd worn them out with boredom.
I'd love to see a properly pregnant character nailing the desperation of the last month wardrobe when it's just repeat, repeat.

CheeseonToast2026 · 11/01/2026 21:52

Leftsidefacing · 11/01/2026 21:03

I don’t see why that meant she had to wear exactly the same outfit for months.

I think it was to disguise her pregnancy as she wasn't pregnant in the show.
I read an interview and she was pretty fed up with wearing it .

MsCFlower · 11/01/2026 23:16

I do love Toast clothing and have been a Toast purchaser from the beginning. I am now grey haired (which I love) but find a lot of the colours are totally unflattering for silver hair. I despise the sludgy orange, yellow and green colours and thrive on the cooler tones which are so flattering on my colouring these days. Am I unusual in this?

Countmeout · 12/01/2026 07:21

Now my first 2/1 order has gone to the seaside for a quick break! Hopefully tomorrow.

MrsCat1 · 12/01/2026 11:46

@MsCFlowerI completely agree with you on this. I’m fair skinned, dark haired, blue eyed and much prefer cool tones which Toast seems to avoid. I do buy some more sludgy coloured trousers from Toast and pair them with cooler toned tops purchased elsewhere but I do wish Toast would do more clearer tones. I’ve been saying this for years and it’s why my Toast expenditure is lower than it might otherwise be.

OftenOrange · 12/01/2026 15:08

Last order received, the wild card of the geometric Isabel Harvey print dress in taupe and mint is a huge surprise in a positive way . I do love turquoise though not in solid colour and the sludgey colours look so beautiful against it.
I sized right down to XXS and the fit is perfect , I knew this style wouldn’t suit me if it were as loose as on the website.
The silk cotton tie neck blouse and the+tie waist cord dress are returns, the dress was a terrible shape on me and the colour of both pieces , ( exactly the same )Gold Sand and Old Gold no longer suit me now that hair at the front is white.
@MsCFlower Yes things change but I’ll never suit cool tones,I can wear an emerald green but otherwise I remain happiest in Autumnal shades.

It’s been a great sale for me this time. Biggest hits:
Aforementioned geometric dress, orange Kaia cardigan, Indigo dungarees and blue stripe Taro shirt .
Wearing the last two on repeat !

Also happy with : Japanese narrow jeans, Check short sleeve top , Navy rib neck T
This time except for the lovely dress, the pieces are all useful pieces which will earn their keep.

Brackenfield · 12/01/2026 16:45

My ivory Kantha top has arrived and thankfully fits! I will probably ask my sister to shorten it as I'm very short bodied, and don't find longer tops flatter me (hits at my widest point!) but it's lovely quality, very thick and well finished. I wouldn't have paid full price admittedly but happy as a sale purchase and will work for my planned events.

mizu · 12/01/2026 17:13

Patch pocket dungarees ordered yesterday and dispatched today……. size 10 as 12 had gone so fingers crossed. My old Jesse dungarees are a 10 and currently on Vinted as they are snug!

MiracleToast · 12/01/2026 17:24

Does anyone have the herringbone wool trousers in charcoal mouline that went into the sale? I was correct in following the sizing suggestions in the reviews as they have a teeny waist, however, they have arrived very deeply creased. I’m wondering as wool if that will come out or will be a problem? I seem to be perpetually on the hunt for a good pair but realistically dry clean only is not practical.

I also received the cable knit cardigan and for some bizarre reason I ordered the smallest size?! Waiting to see if my actual size restocks as I do quite like it and as a hardy wool I think it could earn its place.

I fancied this outfit with the high waist wool trousers along with brown belt and the cropped cardigan to wear along with my lugs. It sort of works but the cardigan is leaning towards shrunken child’s 😂

Thanks @OftenOrange I've taken your lead and ordered the XXS in the taupe and mint dress too as I love the fabric. Do you mind me asking what size you would usually wear please? I also do not want it to look as oversized as on the model.

New stuff is online! I like this although I’ll wait for reports on sizing
