Welcome to the Toast thread where we talk about what we love, (and what drives us mad 😹), about all things Toast.

As usual, pictures are welcomed, as are comments, questions and info about Toastie topics.

I ordered on the 29th and had no communication until yesterday 6th when it confirmed dispatch, delivery tomorrow. I feel annoyed 🙄, at firstly the lack of communication and secondly no apology. Like many on here I do spend quite a bit at Toast (for me anyway).

ToastCosILoveIt · 07/01/2026 18:23

@ScallopShellWalk , I would say it is fairly true to size, long as reviewers have said but I like that. I think it looks better in the flesh than online, will be interested to hear how you get on with it!

ShrankLastWinter · 07/01/2026 18:49

@IlovePond that blue jumper was one of my first toast purchases! I’ve worn it a lot but not recently, so I should try it on again.

DHL changed its mind about delivering my second parcel today. Maybe it’ll turn up on Friday when the third one is supposed to come.

I’ve got the yellow flared skirt in one order and the silk organza one in the other.

Saurus72 · 07/01/2026 18:58

The Brora sale has started, I’ve ordered a dresswhich looks fab on the website so fingers crossed I like it. Plain which I’ve been actively looking for as I have so many patterned Toast dresses.

I also read received an apology for the postal delay; such long delays I can’t imagine what could be happening …..but as usual I blame Toast for overextending their footprint into US and cutting corners / costs here for loyal customers.

Definitely with those here who remain loyal despite all, I couldn’t agree more about Anthropologie ,it’s a few doors down from Toast in Islington and the quality difference is huge.
My Toast wearing friends are singing praises of Kate Barton, I gather the dresses are lovely , and lined, for half the price

I’ve just ordered a dress I really disliked before, because it’s only £60 , whatever possessed me except I do love turquoise as an accent colour .
It looks terrible on the model too……

Edited

I have that dress, it’s my absolute favourite and I have been stopped in the street - twice - by random people who asked me where I bought it. I absolutely love it and feel a million dollars in it.

ScottishMouse · 07/01/2026 19:45

Is there anyone here who dresses mostly, if not completely, in neutral colours? By neutral I mean black, white, ecru, greys of all shades, navy, taupe sorts of shades (what Toast often call biscuit or oat or the like for example). I have never been a fan of a lot of colour or prints on me, though I’ll go as far as a stripe or subtle check, but I have realised that over time my wardrobe has become almost entirely these colours. I do have the British wool sweater from last year in rowan which I love, but don’t wear very often. And I have last year’s wool neckerchief in the orange colour, but I tend to even accessorise in neutrals. Part of the reason I sent back the boiled wool coat was because it was too blue, not dark navy, and that felt a bit out there! I do love a monochrome/neutral look on others - scandi/japanese style - but I’m not sure I can carry that off as I am short, overweight, with very short grey hair and I never wear makeup. I’m beginning to think this move towards a wardrobe of boring(?) colours reflects my state of mind these last few years, but I’m in two minds about whether I want to do anything about it.

@Countmeout I’ve got the binding skirt. I really like it and think it could be an all seasons skirt.

i have it too and wore it yesterday with thermal tights. Definitely an all seasons skirt.

Countmeout · 07/01/2026 20:44

Yes binding skirt will be very useful. It looks good with a cream coloured Lia Tee I have discovered.

Leftsidefacing · 07/01/2026 20:57

@ScottishMouse Love the question about colours. I’m 55, short, medium build, olive skin and brown hair. I love clothes as a hobby and don’t believe in ‘colour analysis’.

When not in wellies, jodhs and flourescent plastic (which is most of the time in Winter) I wear a lot of oversized corduroy and wool, in navy, cream, dark green and khaki/brown (mud) shades and tweed coats and jackets. I have a few lovely grey things but have never wear any of them, as the grey sweatshirt I used to wear made me miserable every time. I threw it away after watching a drama (Shetland) and realising it was just like the prison uniform issued to the suspect being interviewed 🫤

I never realised how colourful my clothes actually are - today a red and turquoise kilt skirt and a blue cable knit mohair jumper (both C&R) with thermal tights and brown snow boots. Yesterday it was a similar outfit but the skirt was a teal and mustard check, worn with a teal and burgundy fairisle jumper.

The last thing I bought was a pair of black velvet trousers (Rundholz) but they are in danger of getting stuck in the wardrobe as I don’t know what to wear with black. I do wear my massive black Toast corduroy smock dress (by itself) when I’m feeling dramatic!

I love the idea of minimalist Scandi dressing but could never manage it. Same with plain ‘Japanese’ style. Absolutely love it but its too ‘neat’ for me to carry off.

I bought that dress when it just came out, probably because I also loved the colours ;)

But I have actually worn it a couple of times, and really like it. It is quite big in the sizing.

ToastCosILoveIt · 07/01/2026 21:11

I too have the dress, bought in a previous sale, and I really enjoy wearing it :)

BettinaInDenmark · 07/01/2026 21:59

Maybe I have just been lucky - just had 2 e-mails from DHL, claiming my order from December 31 and the one placed in the start of the year will be delivered this Friday.
And the confirmation of a return sent 2 days go was also in my e-mail today.

Looks like they are speeding up a bit.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 07/01/2026 22:43

Everything of mine has now been dispatched. I had a look through the restock and have ordered the dungarees 🤦‍♀️. I decided to size down after reading the reviews, hopefully the right decision.

ToastCosILoveIt · 07/01/2026 22:57

If anyone has ordered this dress in a Medium and is sending it back, please can I buy it off you. I have a few Bryn dresses and didn’t think I needed another but it is calling my name…

Yorkshirelass04 · 07/01/2026 23:14

@ScottishMouse Hi, yes for the most part I do dress in neutrals and very specific colours. I only like black, white, grey, blue, red, pink with only occasional deviations. TOAST does me well! It's partly my personal style and colouring / kibbe type and partly sensory issues.

I learnt this the hard way by buying all sorts of colours but finding that I never reached for them or felt funny wearing them. I feel comfortable and put together in those colours especially from Toast.

mizu · 08/01/2026 07:01

I can’t remember who had the patch pocket dungarees - and loved them - on here without scrolling way back. 12 is back in stock but thinking they might be too big? I don’t mind things a bit oversized but reviews say they are large. I’m a 12 irl and 5 ft 7. Wondering if they are worth a try!

ellequick · 08/01/2026 09:24

I placed an order on 2nd which contains a gift I hoped to give someone on Tuesday 13th - I thought that would be plenty of time! I had an apology email this morning but still no dispatch so I guess it’s looking unlikely it will be here in time now.

ScottishMouse · 08/01/2026 09:25

Does anyone subscribe to Angharad Jones’ newsletter? I’ve just got one through titled “Do you really like it? Or is it just on sale?” Perhaps written just for us!! 🤣

OftenOrange · 08/01/2026 09:50

@mizu That was me, I’ve worn them everyday!
I ordered my usual size and they are quite roomy, I was going to return for a smaller size but I’m glad I didn’t now. I can wear a much bigger jumper without it pouffing out at the back.
The legs are a tad too long but I do a turn up and like that.
Hope you get them , I rate them a solid 5 *

mizu · 08/01/2026 10:05

@OftenOrange ah thanks so much. I’ll go back in later and take another look to see if they are still in my basket.

@Leftsidefacing I love the Japanese minimalist neutral look and I’d never have bought patterned or colourful clothing until recently.
I think it’s mainly because of hair colour , white at the front , which since Covid I’ve stopped colouring.
Now my beloved charcoal grey and deep navy drain my pale olive complexion .
I have always broken the gloom with colourful scarves and shawls in oranges and greens, what’s changed is that I’ve introduced jumpers and Summer skirts in those colours too.
Since returning to Toast I couldn’t resist a clutch of ( seldom worn) patterned dresses and blouses , I’m still wary of florals but love the more geometric Bloomsbury type prints they do so well.
I think Toast play so well with unusual colour combinations in muted Autumnal colours which happen to suit me , and I can’t stand catching sight of myself looking so whey faced in grey.
If I had strong Mediterranean colouring I’d still be in neutrals but you have to go with what you have!😀

ScottishMouse · 08/01/2026 10:27

@OftenOrange yes, I agree with the fact that a change in colouring later in life means colour might be required in a different way, but I am still very resistant. I have pale Celtic colouring (leaning pink rather than olive), and have now been fully grey for a few years. I cut my hair very short some time back, which I absolutely love for ease, but it does somewhat expose my face and neck more than I would like.
I have never had my colours done, and am not particularly interested in that, but I do know that what I “should” be wearing is jewel colours - emerald green, cobalt blue, purples, magenta, but I wouldn’t go near any of those kind of colours in a million years. If I wear colour at all, it will be rusty oranges, mustard, maybe a warm brown. These are the colours I love, but I’m pretty sure they don’t suit me 🤣

ScallopShellWalk · 08/01/2026 10:50

@ScottishMouse I also have a lot of muted colours and hardly any patterned clothing. In winter I’m usually dark versions and summer the lights. I do have some dark purple tops and pale almost grey pink ones for walking. I like some blue and recently introduced navy and now like it but resisted it for years. In recent years I’m drawn to almost grey whites and ecru and olive/khaki. I did buy the knitted striped tank and love it and it’s full of colour but not the brightest ones. Though I do like the bright blue knits on toast. I need mostly dark green, brown, some blues and black often. I choose the colour based on my mood rather that what I look like in it. I don’t know if it drains me or not.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 08/01/2026 13:45

Toast appear to be up to their refund anomalies again. I have today received a refund for £140.02 instead of £140 Confused.
