Welcome to the Toast thread where we talk about what we love, (and what drives us mad 😹), about all things Toast.

As usual, pictures are welcomed, as are comments, questions and info about Toastie topics.

Oh dear big restock! I ordered the Donegal V neck tank in Red in a large which might be too big. Also the Gia ribbon in blue and green and the silk shirt in navy! Much stop now.

ShrankLastWinter · 07/01/2026 11:51

First sale order finally arrived.

I'm keeping the Popover Smock Top in Midnight, M. Really nice fabric and colour. Haven't figured out what to wear it with yet, but it looks very cute on.

Also keeping Archivist Floral Print Cotton Shirt Dress in blue. It's quite a bright blue, despite what some reviews say, so I'll need a tan. I have the other colour in 14 and it's lovely but a bit big, so I decided to get the blue in a 12, which is a better size for me now. Just have to wait 6 months for enough warmth to wear it...

Sending back the Collared Wool Cardigan in Brass, M. Too 1970s and too itchy. Also pulls a bit over boobs; very neat fit.

Debating the Cotton Velvet Jacket in Brown Slate. I sized down to 12, which was a good choice. It's still quite oversized lower down. But 10 would have been too small on shoulders. I think perhaps the problem is actually that the pockets are too big and give it an unbalanced shape. But on the other hand I like the colour and fabric and it looks very good except for possibly too big low down. All my teenagers are positive about it. Just need to find the right outfit to wear it with, as it could look very cool or just wrong.

Second sale order supposed to arrive today, weather permitting.

ScottishMouse · 07/01/2026 11:55

Does anyone have the garment dyed vneck sleeveless linen dress from the summer? Is it a neat fit across the bust & under the arms or is it more of a loose fit? My family want a hot summer holiday this year (I hate the heat with a passion!) and I have nothing to wear in such weather.

ScottishMouse · 07/01/2026 12:13

Also thinking of summer…Fracap Ola sandals…reviews suggest sizing up. I’m 38/38.5, so that would suggest a 39, but I’m unsure as I tried the Lina ones (the open toe ones that tie up with a lace) in 38 and if anything they were a little big. Anyone have the Olas and did you size up?

Snowyowl78 · 07/01/2026 12:22

@ScottishMouse i have two pairs- didn’t size up. Bought usual size. I have quite fat feet too. They also loosen up quite a bit.

ScottishMouse · 07/01/2026 12:23

Thanks @Snowyowl78 I have wide and difficult feet. Might need to try two sizes, which is always so annoying to have to do.

faustina · 07/01/2026 13:29

I've ordered the toffee Gabis in an 8 to try and also a coat, but not from Toast.
Has anyone ever bought a brand called Basic Apparel? It's Danish and I don't think I know it. I've got a coat shaped space in my wardrobe and Mercantile London promise next day (free!) delivery

faustina · 07/01/2026 13:38

@ScottishMouse I think Cos might be selling the shorts I wore when I did a hot trip last summer in the sale. I had the elasticated waist linen, and some elasticated poplin. I lived in them, plus linen tshirts. The dresses I took never left my suitcase.

ScallopShellWalk · 07/01/2026 13:52

@faustina I know basic apparel. It’s lovely. I saw it in Spain but couldn’t find it here.

faustina · 07/01/2026 13:57

@ScallopShellWalk - thanks and oh good! I have high hopes from this coat as it has a hood you can hide away when not needed. I've ordered from Mercantile London which is a great little shop in Spitalfields, but it seems they also stock it at Working Class hero:

ScallopShellWalk · 07/01/2026 14:03

@faustina I first asked where in my message then reread your message which said where. I then edited my message but I should just have left as is. Thank you. I hummed and hawed over linen trousers from Basic Apparel. In the end I bought cropped cords in a brand ps don’t forget me, but still thought about the linen trousers and still do. I looked alot when I got home. Thanks for the tip.
I thought the quality was good and the little boutique I saw them in was choosy about what they stocked. I so wish that little shop was nearer. I loved alot of their stock.

ScallopShellWalk · 07/01/2026 14:23

Received a message from toast to say orders are taking longer. I thought they were going to say they no longer could give me my orders, thankfully not. Plus I received confirmation my organza skirt had been dispatched.

Countmeout · 07/01/2026 15:04

Yes I got a dispatch notice for one order from the 2nd today. I love that organza skirt @ScallopShellWalk but definitely can’t justify it. I think I am skirted out. I see the binding skirt is back in the bit of a restock, was I the only one that loved it?

AmethystMoonShine · 07/01/2026 15:18

I got an apology email as well @ScallopShellWalk and I too was afraid it was to tell me my order wasn't going to be fulfilled.
It is so slow this year. They're not dispatching them in order either. I have had one dispatched but still waiting on one ordered prior to that one.
I did however get a refund this morning - although one of those weird ones with the amount plus a penny?!

OftenOrange · 07/01/2026 15:22

I also read received an apology for the postal delay; such long delays I can’t imagine what could be happening …..but as usual I blame Toast for overextending their footprint into US and cutting corners / costs here for loyal customers.

Definitely with those here who remain loyal despite all, I couldn’t agree more about Anthropologie ,it’s a few doors down from Toast in Islington and the quality difference is huge.
My Toast wearing friends are singing praises of Kate Barton, I gather the dresses are lovely , and lined, for half the price

I’ve just ordered a dress I really disliked before, because it’s only £60 , whatever possessed me except I do love turquoise as an accent colour .
It looks terrible on the model too……

faustina · 07/01/2026 16:08

That’s so funny @OftenOrange. You never know, it might turn out to be a real favourite!

I also finally got a despatch email for the berrel leg cords!

ScottishMouse · 07/01/2026 16:25

I received my last sale parcel - the biscuit wool vneck dress and some candles. The candles are staying. The dress I’m not sure about. I ordered two sizes, my usual size fits but feels a little neat, the larger size is much more comfy and doesn’t look too big, but I’m just not sure if it suits me or if it is really better suited to someone tall and svelte.

IlovePond · 07/01/2026 17:19

@mizu that jumper is lovely!

Here’s a stock picture of mine. I can’t believe I let it go - twice 🙈I was so lucky to find one on eBay and that it was in perfect condition - I love it so much!

Last order came this pm. Pj trousers were huge on the crotch and the elastic on the waist was too tight. The coated Novestas in 37 were too small but a nice colour, the uncoated 38s were too big and I didn’t like the ecru colour.

I am debating whether to order the coated version in 38 before giving up on these for good. There is quite a lot of disparity in size between colours and the coated/uncoated so I know there is a pair to fit me somewhere.

I actually bought a pair of the light blue uncoated full price in store in 37 which fitted. I then spent a fortune at the sample sale the next day so returned the Novestas to make me feel a bit better about the state of my wallet.

I have regretted it ever since😾

@Countmeout I’ve got the binding skirt. I really like it and think it could be an all seasons skirt.

IlovePond · 07/01/2026 17:31

I missed today’s restock - probably just as well as I have sent everything back and I suspect I would be ordering for the sake of it.

I am sort of regretting returning the binding skirt, but it didn’t suit me.

ToastCosILoveIt · 07/01/2026 17:36

@ScallopShellWalk , I have the silk organza skirt: I think I have said it on here before but I wouldn’t have looked twice at it online but saw it in the Hampstead shop and tried the 14 (I am a 12) on which was too big but it was on my hit list for the sale and so pleased it came up. I will wear it with a belted tailored jacket for work and a knit for weekends, an easy and lovely piece.

@ScottishMouse , I have the fracap sandals in four colours, super comfortable and yes, they do give a little as the burgundy ones felt snug at first but eased. I have difficult feet but don’t think you need to size up in them.

I have reordered the brass big coloured cardie in Large as the medium was too neat a fit for my liking.

ScottishMouse · 07/01/2026 17:54

Thanks @ToastCosILoveIt I think I’m going to leave the Olas as I don’t super love the colour that’s on sale, so I’ll wait to see what else is on offer later in the season.
Still can’t make a decision on the wool dress. It looks good I think, it’s definitely cosy & comfy, but when would I wear it….i’m more of a trousers person and I maybe just like the idea of it more than I would actually wear it. I hate tights, so it’s too cold for it right now, but it’s quite thick wool, so it’s a bit too transition weather maybe. 🤔

OrangeyLemon · 07/01/2026 18:07

It is deflating to order something on the 2nd and not to have heard anything further by close of play on the 7th. I’m waiting on the round mohair cardi with the oversized buttonholes, and saw it on two different people at work today, which is making me think I should have sized up, and also that perhaps I should give this one a miss as everyone else has it already!

TosstTastic · 07/01/2026 18:12

I ordered at peak Christmas bloat on the 2nd and had a notification of dispatch today.
Shame that size gizmo doesn't seem to take into account perfectly normal celebration fluctuations. A week into back to normal and I already feel I should have sized down although I anticipate stress and comfort eating ahead so maybe it's taken that into account.

ScallopShellWalk · 07/01/2026 18:18

@ToastCosILoveIt thank you. That has me think more positively about the skirt. I really like the look of it and you’ve given me ideas of how to wear it, if it fits me.

@TosstTastic thanks for the smile.

@OrangeyLemon maybe it’s good you have the chance now to think that over having seen it on others. Were you planning to wear it at work?
