Mine is probably 20 years old and is from BHS which in itself has been closed for years .
I have had others in that time but always defer back to old faithful and the newer ones end up going to charity shops .
How old is yours ?

I have one I take on holiday, my mum bought it for me from M&S and it has an old St.Michael label. I remember wearing it in hospital when I had my first DC, 33 years ago. I'd had it a while then, so it's probably about 38 years old. It's 100% cotton with a sort of satin finish and hardly creases. It's still as good as new.

SheSpeaks · 01/12/2025 13:18

Mine is about 55 years old. I inherited it and it’s been mine for about 22 years.

MrsAvocet · 01/12/2025 13:26

Nearly 7 years. I was admitted to hospital quite a long way from home following a car crash and had nothing with me. When DH arrived he went to the big supermarket down the road which fortunately was open late, and bought me pyjamas, toiletries etc. My dressing gown was part of that - I didn't have a decent one at home anyway!

Myblueclematis · 01/12/2025 13:30

I have three and the oldest one is about 14 years old, bought from Store 21 in the sale and cost me £7. It's pink with white hearts all over it.

It got lost when I was in hospital in 2020 but one of the nurses found it and kindly held on to it for me to pick up as I was being admitted again a few weeks later.

It washes up really well and for £7 it has been one of my best bargains.

CoraLea · 01/12/2025 13:32

11 months, but I want a new one as this one is too big, but I want one made out of terry towel.

RandomMess · 01/12/2025 13:32

I had to retire my one that was 28 years old, heartbroken. Keep checking vinted, eBay etc just in case!

WorriedRelative · 01/12/2025 13:33

Definitely over 20yrs old as I had it when I lived with my parents. It is from this millennium though because I had a full length toweling one at uni.

AgentPidge · 01/12/2025 13:33

How old? Well, let's just say it's probably going through the menopause right now.

FourChimneys · 01/12/2025 13:37

Mine is about 10 years old, it replaced the one I'd had since the now adult DC were babies.

When DH retired he was still using the one he took to university as an 18 year old. He took some persuading but eventually agreed to an upgrade.

Summer robe from An Indian Summer - 2 years old
Winter robe, from British Boxers, about 5 years.

Mejera · 01/12/2025 14:06

5 or 6 years old, from Tesco!

It's actually a mens one, and was on sale for £5 😁I didn't like any of the women's ones they had in, all a bit too fussy, and slightly short (I'm quite tall), and grabbed it as a 'it's on sale, that'll do for now', and I love it! It's not floor length, but below my knees, navy, sort of slightly quilted velour, verrrrry soft and cosy, 2 big pockets, and a hood! And has washed well and not frayed at all.

Tootyfilou · 01/12/2025 14:46

Mine is from Bedfolk around five years old.It is a lovely weight, neither too thick or too thin. I imagine I will have it for many many years.

I replaced an Autograph, heavy velour one (M&S) last year. It had got washed out after about 12 years and looked scruffy. The M&S ones aren't acceptable quality nowadays.

Replaced with a fleecy one from Seasalt, which I am very happy with.

Only wearna dressing gown first thing and as I get ready for bed at the end of the day.

Thanks for the suggestion of Seasalt . The M & S route is where I go for a new one before reverting back to good ol BHS .

My summer one is at St Michaels . I can remember wearing it in my old house when still with exh and we've been divorced 25+ years so maybe it's yours twin !

Ancient, lol. Got it from my ex husband many years ago. It’s an old Next one back in the day when they made decent quality items. I still love it and can’t part with it, as the only ones you seem to get now are much thinner.

GU24Mum · 01/12/2025 16:05

I bought mine when I had my daughter in 2004. My mother is still wearing the one she bought when she had me!

It would be nice to think so!

MountainBiker · 01/12/2025 16:39

About 25 years old! Still looks like new. Big fleecy one from Lands End.

muddyford · 01/12/2025 16:46

My summer one, in waffle cotton, was from C&A and must be 30+ years old. Looks like new.
Winter one, thick towelling from Lands End, about a decade old.

Bluenan · 01/12/2025 18:27

It must be 20-25yrs old. A present from a friend. It’s still soft and snuggly. I won’t be changing it anytime soon

NancyJoan · 01/12/2025 18:32

DH and I have GAP ones that are at least 25 years old, possibly slightly more. My summer one is a spring chicken by contrast, at only 12 or so.

AnnaQuayInTheUk · 01/12/2025 18:39

I've got a gorgeous soft one from Noa Noa, bought it last year in Vinted to replace an ancient towelling one from M&S.

I've also got a lovely soft cotton one for the summer, a bit like a kimono. I bought it about 4 years ago.

We've got 4 or 5 dressing gowns in our spare bedrooms (only the 2 of us in a 3 bed house, so it's not a mansion!) for visitors. Our house is freezing so anyone coming to stay is usually very grateful. All bought from Vinted.

Blackcountryexile · 01/12/2025 18:40

Mine's at least 15 years old. Dsis bought it as a Christmas gift from Primark. When it began showing signs of wear about 8 years ago she bought me a new one. The original one is much thicker so I'm making it last!

PashaMinaMio · 01/12/2025 18:48

My favourite which I love above 3 or 4 other winter weight gowns I own is M&S 1994.

Micro fleece fabric with shawl style collar. Generous fabric to wrap around me. Still warm, no rips or tears.
I love it.
