Please can we just keep with the long established friendly tradition of reveals at 7 am. It's hardly lots of rules! Early morning is often the only time I have to catch up on my Watched threads. These opening threads have been a lovely tradition for many of us for so many years and this single rule has hardly been a problem previously.

Why did they feel they need to post - excitement? No rules in the first post? Why anyone posts in here? Are we are going to be enforcing 7 am rule and that type of "oh you spoiled my surprise" snarky comments? If so please do let me know as it's not what I need as start of my day either.

On the flip side, several people have mentioned feeling pushed out of past threads by comments that came across as snarky or unwelcoming, which is a shame. Anyone is free to start a new thread with their own rules, (and this one didn't have any in the first post) but choosing to post comments that make others feel unwelcome is still a choice — and it’s worth asking whether that’s something we want to accept or not. That to me is what is the bigger spoiler.

Today’s product was the biggest reason I bought Space NK again this year. While I do think it’s the best calendar this year, if Cult or Sephora had had this Medik8 instead I would have gone with them. Dying to try it since it was released and held off in the belief it would turn up in an advent 😊

In the same way I am too scared to be the first one on my street to put my bins out in case I put the wrong one out, I will never post first in the morning in case I do that wrong. So hopefully everyone can feel reassured and comforted by this.

Obviously I am delighted by the peptides. I think it’s great that we already have a vit c serum and now peptides, so we should be glowing for Christmas! I’m thinking using the peptides just at night? What are others going to do?

This single rule has never caused problems in the past. The opening threads have always been a fun and friendly way to start the day. We've all respected it for 10+ years. I don't really understand what the problem is this year?

For layering, the Medik8 website recommends using it am (after VitC and before sunscreen) an pm (before retinol), so I'm going to try that

It’s another great day. I guess I’m going to have to learn how to use all these things now. I’m normally fine, serum, moisturiser and eye cream.

I didn’t put any rules on this thread because I know people get stressed, I’m always a bit nervous about spoiling the surprise and upsetting people. I got a huge telling off once about the m and s calendar when I said I didn’t count it as my main one 😳 it’s much nicer on here now and no one has cast an opinion on my 4 (5 opened one in one go!) but that’s probably @JoRaRaRa enabling us all 🤣

Im a bit prone to pilling if I use too many things, vit c stuff seems to exacerbate that but it could just be my skin

I once put my garden bin out a week early 🤣 after that I decided that I'd wait until others put theirs out. I felt rather embarrassed 🙈

I'm planning on using the Peptides in the morning. I've sold the tatcha as my rosacea flares up with vitamin c and I have my evening faves so the morning just makes sense for me. From what @itsevolutionbaby says though, it sounds like it's very versatile 😍

No, not for everyone. I was made feel awful one year by the 7 am police and others made similar comments about having same experience. When ultimately you made the choice to read at 6am discussion that didn't have the time mentioned. You spoilt your surprise and blamed othes. I just avoided the treads for that reason and only joined this one as there wasn't such rule. My hope was nobody will be made unwelcome on this one

I was getting so confused with my 12 day fragrance ones. I had planned to open them on alternative days, but I couldn't remember what day I needed to start to finish them both on 24th Dec.

For anyone thinking what a thicko, I was away, got back just before midnight on the 1st, and they were all under the bed so I needed to tidy and clean the house, decorate for Christmas and then get them out and my head was thinking it'll be OK to start them on the 3rd 🤣

I need to start putting things away or at least put them back into the ACs, currently I've just got a growing stack of products in the middle of the table 🙈

I love almost everything by Medik8 that I've tried so far (the Crystal Retinal 6 is my go to evening serum) so I can't wait to give this a go.

I agree with PPs, so far all 4 days are hits with me and I think the calendar has pretty much paid for itself at this point - very happy!

Almost, I calculated it a few months ago, £259 by day 4, so tomorrow's will push it over. I have accidently spoilt my own surprise for tomorrow though by looking at my spreadsheet 🙈 oops!! 🤣

I love this serum, and it’s the reason I bought this BAC.
I’ve been using it since it was released and I really think it’s made a difference, especially to the fine lines on my chest.

Agree the (perhaps unwritten) rule has always been no spoilers before 7am, it’s the same on all the beauty calendar threads.

Should we agree on a time so that people know not to click on the thread before that time if they don’t want spoilers?

I usually catch up on the thread if it’s before 7am knowing there won’t be spoilers, I had a lie in today though so it was still a surprise!

I agree with the 7am friendly request. It’s the same on other threads and has always been tradition. I also catch up on MN before I open the calendar and when you’ve paid a lot of money for a treat, it’s a shame when that’s spoiled. It’s perfectly possible to express excitement for something without revealing the name of the product before 7am.

I hope we can agree on a compromise- the calendar is fantastic so it’s lovely to share the excitement.

The peptide serum can work am and pm, but I like the lighter vit C am. In the evening, after taking my makeup off I feel my skin need a lot more nourishment and the peptides would be lovely before moisturiser as it's sounds hydratating.

re hair oil, if you are like me and some make your hair feels heavy - I heard they are good for your hair, and if you want to use them up you could try prewash treatment. I have one I am using up this way - if I know I will wash my hair PM and have few hours before that I would apply it before that.

If there is 7 a.m. policing with the added snarky remarks being ok, directed to anyone who dares to post at 6:15 I am going to give it a miss. I want to keep my mornings enjoyable. I’ve been on the receiving end before, and I’m really loving this advent—I’d hate to see anyone else go through that. Absolutely no hard feelings if that’s how things are; it’s just not how I want to enjoy my advent. :). It is really wonderful so far.

Can I nip on your thread for a spot of advice -has anyone used both the Medik8 crystal retinal 6 and also the AB retinal serum -any idea which is best for a beginner? Sorry -long time lurker here but I really enjoy your thoughts and the honest advice on using things

With respect, the only person who is coming across as standoffish is you. A poster very politely questioned the timings, and your response was borderline rude. Nobody is “policing” anything, it has always been 7am and if you look at any other BAC thread it’s 7am, because that works for the majority.

Can we not derail any further and just enjoy this wonderful thread for what it is?
