New thread! Will this be the last thread? I think it will last two weeks and we’ll finish on a round number 10. Though Black Friday deals may mean we burn through this and 10 onto 11 and 12!

I’ve started getting Black Friday early access emails for 25% etc.

I went in early too, but I'd missed out on two other fragrance calendars which sold out. This is my first year of getting a beauty advent calendar and I had no idea it would involve so much knowledge, skill and timing! I'll be much better prepared next year.

And also luck! Each year has been very different. It’s a good view of macroeconomics of the country! House market on hold, beauty market on hold 😂. Last year there were not discounts like this.

I bought the HN fragrance as I kept hearing that fragrance calendars sell out fast 😐 They must have not had a successful advent season though if they've had to cut them both by 30%.

There weren’t as many fragrance ACs and edits to choose from. Previous years the Liberty scent edit has sold out immediately, there was only one a year and weren’t sure when it came out, whereas now they seem to do a summer and festive season scent kit. Fragrance ACs I think only two lux brands did and now there’s loads across the different purchase levels. And scent kits everywhere too.

Last year was my first year and as @BakeOffRewatch said it wasn't like this. Things went fast. So I've bought some things this year when I could have held on and got a bit of a discount. Annoying but it's how it goes.

Do you think the John Lewis one will be reduced?

My guess is that retailers like HN produced far more calendars this year, and they have not sold as many as expected. The larger number of calendars also means more people selling stuff on ebay and Vinted - pushing resale pricing down and making it less attractive to buy the calendars for the resale value alone (as some people have definitely done in the past.)

Overall the calendars also haven’t been as good as in the past in my view.

It’’s quite possible next year will be different - fewer calendars produced that may sell out more quickly. Hopefully the retailers will also learn from this year and they will be better curated with more genuinely exciting items to entice people to buy. (If you are reading this retailers - take note!)

I thought after last year I had come up with a good plan, carefully selecting which I would get and when to get them based on how quickly certain brands sold out last year - though granted I did buy more than intended.
This year was my first time purchasing fragrance calendars. I don’t mind so much in that I wanted most of what was in HN but it does feel a sting.

It really shows that there are no guarantees

30% off is a lot! I’m still not convinced about HN BAC, seems to have lots of small sizes or is that just me? Like others, last year was my first year and I don’t remember any discounts at all! Sign of the macro economic environment as @BakeOffRewatch said I guess…

Wow, 30% discount is tempting. Top cash back are offering 12% cashback on the HN calendars too. I have the Harrods fragrance though and DH has got me the Jo Malone advent for Christmas so I really don’t need it! 🤔

I'm hoping so. That's the only one left I think I would like if there's a discount. Would have to be a good discount though as it's hard for me to justify any more.

Yes, the HN are smaller sizes. It did feel pricy with that in mind, but the range is good.
I’d definitely have gotten it now if I hadn’t already purchased, it’s a great price and more reasonable for the sizes you get

The Flannels perfume edits are also on offer again. £10 off the women's and £14 off the men's.

I haven't bought any yet, first time, and really like the look of the JL one. HN I don't think I'd use much of the stuff.

I bought the HN BAC full price in 2022 and was so happy with it. But this year even the 30% off isn't tempting me, too many DODs and products I've already tried. I feel like I want to be tempted but its just not doing it for me at all...I might need it to get to 40/50% off.

I got this year's HN Fragrance with the 25% and I love it but wouldn't have paid full price. If it goes any lower I'd be tempted again but that is crazy talk considering my current stash!

I have both the Harrods and HN fragrance (and SpaceNk and pdm, oops!). Although the ones in HN are smaller, they are from really great perfume houses and there's so many in there that you're bound to like some. One drawer has 3 fragrances in 😁 I think it's a really great calendar, which is good I suppose because I did pay full price 😩🤣 I am tempted though to get it at 30% off so I can feel like I've had a bargain on it 🤣

The two HN ones were reduced by 25% in store last year too. I got the fragrance one in mid November with the discount.

Thank you, I'll remember that for next year. Although, I think with all the fragrance calendars and the perfume edits I've bought this year, I don't think I'll need any next year 🤣

@JoRaRaRa you should remember how much you spent and get one that you really really really want next year. Like Dior or Diptyque or Barbara Sturm.

A bargainous HN fragrance calendar, and the news that I can finally be issued with ADHD medication all before 9am! Today is going to be a good day...

Hopefully the meds can help with my impulsive beauty splurges - you might not hear much from me in 2026 😁

Yes, that's a good idea 😍 I do keep looking at the expensive ones and wishing I could buy one, maybe if I'd not gone mad with everything else, I would've been able to 🤣

I keep thinking maybe I'd like the diptyque one sometime. But could I stop myself buying SNK, Harrods etc. on top? 🤔

ive re looked at it and quite like it but I’ve bought Eve Lom and CT items from vinted 🙄

Im deciding between Boots showstopper, HN or maybe JL if any more enticing discounts.
