New thread! Will this be the last thread? I think it will last two weeks and we’ll finish on a round number 10. Though Black Friday deals may mean we burn through this and 10 onto 11 and 12!

I’ve started getting Black Friday early access emails for 25% etc.

Hi I’m thinking of making my 15 year old son an advent calendar, I was thinking of buying an empty box and putting items in. I was thinking some small aftershaves, some nice shower gel and I’m not sure what else. I’ve seen a few of you have made your own, does anyone have any tips please. I’ve been looking on Vinted at the fragrances that are in the space nk, Harvey Nicole and Harrods and I can’t seem to find any bargains. I buy clothes from Vinted and can normally find reasonably priced items but struggling with fragrance

Fragrance generally does go for a higher price than other categories on Vinted. I think to grab enough bargains for an AC you might have needed to start looking a while ago. I've made a 12 day scent calendar for DS but I've been collecting bits and pieces over a couple of months now.

A lot of brands do discovery sets on their own websites and via places like Cult beauty. Maybe check out some of those to get a set to split up. It might work out a bit cheaper than Vinted. You can then pad out with shower and body products.

Carolina Herrera website does a load of scent samples when you spend a certain amount and you can choose which ones. If you have others gifts you can buy from there you could get a bunch of minis that way.

Good luck to those of you making your own calendars. I've said before that I'm in the camp that wants something nice for no effort other than payment on my part, so it's not for me! @Lovereading1 I believe My Protein is popular with teenage boys especially. Their advent calendar is still in stock and they're showing 70% Black Friday discounts, applied at check. Don't know if this will work on the calendar but worth a try for anyone shopping for teens.

@Lovereading1 I second My Protein, I bought for my DS last year and it was far better than expected. It’s excellent value, especially with the discount. Don’t forget to go through Top cashback or similar if you do buy one.

If you decide to do a DIY one, get the fragrance discovery sets and split into different drawers. Flannels/House of Fraser have a set with 5 fragrances in

edit: I tried to link the set but it’s not worked - just search for fragrance on their website, it’s currently £35

IlovePond · 15/11/2025 13:09

Hi, I’ve gone rl shopping as it’s DS2’s birthday next week and it’s hell out here!

Just popped into Marks - the reduction - for many - on the a/c, plus lack of min spend seems to be doing the trick. Only three left in a huge flagship store, so if you are thinking about the M&S calendar, probably sooner rather than later for a decision x

Aftershave samples from penhaligons (pay postage only)
Folding backscratcher (pennies from Amazon Haul)
Gift card to cinema / golf / Costa etc
Golf balls / tees
Crep Pills (trainer deodorisers)
Beard oil
Skincare
Chocolate
Tin of mints
Socks
Gloves

Not suitable for a 15 year old but i would also add things like Alcohol miniatures or a scratch card if doing one for an adult.

@BlueLimes - I don’t use Vinted - too many horror stories from DSis. I try to sell a bit on eBay, but the M&S stuff wouldn’t sell.

I’ve got beautiful Liberty perfume on there atm, and nobody wants it!

Some people seem to have the selling knack, but I clearly don’t 😿

Vinted is flooded atm with advent stuff. People want things cheaper than what you payed. I am also a buyer so know the insurance plus postage bumps the price up.

IlovePond · 15/11/2025 14:56

I sold one of my Liberty perfumes on eBay for 20% of its RRP, (it was one that is available to buy in that particular size). I thought the offer was a bit too cheekily low, but wanted it gone.

I don’t use Vinted.

QueefofSheena · 15/11/2025 15:19

I’m watching this one for further reductions. There’s far more in it that I’d use than M&S that makes it good value if it goes to around £100. I wouldn’t be upset if it doesn’t though or sells out

Advent Calendar 2025
www.myprotein.com/p/sports-nutrition/advent-calendar-2025/12948595/

MyProtein is a great calendar for boys who are into the gym, sports, etc. ; bought one last year and another one this year.

Can also suggest the Grenade AC for them: https://www.grenade.com/products/advent-calendar?variant=39606630088764&utmsource=google&utm_medium=cpc&utmcampaign=18122425141&utmcontent=&utmterm=&twsource=google&twadid=&twcampaign=18122425141&twkwdid=&gadsource=1&gadcampaignid=22636541499&gbraid=0AAAAADwV5IPjSG0g1KtNU-dKcc8vfaVKa&gclid=Cj0KCQiA5uDIBhDAARIsAOxj0CFlxC2wXCdJzB6TOnuizGeZZ0awtNg53ojC7qOB7lbfh44WWuIiAaAidUEALwwcB

They were doing a deal with a discount and an extra box of 16 Grenade bars with the calendar that I went for about a week and a half ago. I've already handed over the bonus box to my teenage boy; he was very happy.

Agree with another OP's suggestion to no forget to go through Topcashback for either calendar ... every little helps!

I got a wooden advent calendar from Hobbycraft and decorated it. I just looked for other edits/boxes that were good deals and have filled it with the CB fragrance gwp, some Fenty, rom&nd and Milk bits - but had to dig into it to cheer her up the other night and need to replace a few things now! It's forming one of her birthday presents next week.

Thank you

After WEEKS of ummming and ahhhhing I finally cracked and ordered the Liberty AC! This is a big splash for me and I’m so excited about it!

Waiting for the unboxing thread to start. Feels like a long wait!

That’s lovely @RegularNameSwitcher - enjoy!

Ilikeyoursleeves · 15/11/2025 19:25

Oh @RegularNameSwitcher that’s exciting! See you on the Liberty opening thread!

OvaHere · 15/11/2025 20:29

I feel like Liberty might be the busiest opening thread. That and Space NK probably.

2025istheyeari · 15/11/2025 20:35

That’s great @RegularNameSwitcher, will also see you on the Liberty opening thread!! Quite a few of us I think!
on the subject of teen boys advents, can anyone recommend some good face masks please? I’m never sure which ones to get. Thanks

The Garnier masks are decent and not too expensive. Boots usually have some sort of offer on them - 3 for 2 etc.

Not sure if it's still in stock but I bought a set of 12 for DS when it was one of their half price star gifts. Can't remember what they called it but it was sold as a mask calendar.

2025istheyeari · 15/11/2025 21:21

Thanks @OvaHerewill have a look. Think I remember the 22 days of maskmas or something. It sold out before I could get it!

CountryCob · 16/11/2025 10:46

Interested to see how the discounts play out at this stage, I have one for me and DD but could be tempted by Rituals on black friday. Have got the M&S offer but £45 is more where would have expected it to start, have had that one a few times already and it remains quite similar. Have bought a few powders and bits of make up recently separately so not feeling as keen. But overall I think at some point in the next fortnight I could be tempted by a good deal and if not that is also fine....

powtonharris · 16/11/2025 11:17

I decided against the M&S BAC in the end as they were only 10 items I would use.

Sexentric · 16/11/2025 12:43

Anyone got Fenwick? I am half thinking about it because of the full size Thameen fragrance. But im not sure about the rest.

Someone on here has the Fenwick calendar as they had to contact them
as one of the small fragrances had broken.

It does have some good bits in it- it has the Thameen, a full size Neal’s Yard age defy cream, a full size Charlotte Tilbury face oil and lots of fragrances. I would have been tempted by it if I hadn’t already got the Thameen in the Harrods fragrance calendar

HollyGolightly4 · 16/11/2025 13:11

I was very restrained in Sainsbury's this morning and didn't grab their beauty one which was nectar card half price.

How much do you think black Friday rituals might be? We have a new shop and I took my mum in for the first time and she was in awe! I'd love to get it for her.
