"casual Christmas sparkle" work party dress code

Please help me find something suitable! Work do in a bar in central London. Dress code is casual Christmas sparkle whatever the hell that means.

I do normally love dressing up for a party but on the flip side sort of relieved I don't need to be on the hunt for a new party dress. I think most colleagues will be pretty casual. Any suggestions of what to wear? I'd like to feel like I've made a bit of an effort, without looking out of place.

Black jeans & a sparkly top

Sequin/velvet shorts, tights, boots and a plain, fine knit sweater?

Sequin top, got one last year and transformed christmas outings when you're not sure what to wear!
Can take in bag to work and won't crease and look good with jeans or velvet trousers, so a sparkly casual look iyswim.

What jeans to wear with a sparkly top? In my head that's a look to pair with skinnies, but I only own quite casual jeans these days (barrel leg or wide leg)

I generally wear straight leg (Levi 724)

Any jeans, it's dark.

Tesco has some gorgeous stuff for Christmas. I'm still sulking because I couldn't afford (and have nowhere it) a red satin blouse

When in doubt I have 4 things that work every Christmas….

1. A sequin blazer, black, velvet, subtle sequins, softly fitted - works with jeans, leather trousers, satin skirts with a cami underneath
2. A sequin skirt with a jumper and boots
3. A chunky diamond necklace over a jumper or shirt
4. Big sparkly drop earrings with a plain dress or jeans and a plain top

I also saw someone with this on with jeans on Friday evening and it looked really good…subtle but still sparkly, I couldn’t believe it was £20

For something a bit different to jeans and a sparkly top, I bought these jeans recently from Vinted which are far nicer in real life (mine are gold and they drape really nicely, they look stiffer in the photos). I'll wear them to a work xmas thing with a black top, black clutch and will have to find some sort of pointy black shoes.

Have also ordered some black wide leg trousers in some sort of crinkly crepe fabric with a metallic stripe going through them.

Someone upthread mentioned Tesco. They do have lots of party stuff, definitely worth a look.

i forgot about those @evilharpy I had the silver version last year! I’ve also bought some silver boots this year, only ASOS so not expensive as I won’t wear them much, but thought they’d party up a few outfits!

Casual Christmas sparkle is all I ever do:
Vintage lurex top, either wide leg tweedy trousers (I adore a tweed and sparkle combination) or velvet flares, silver or 'old gold' brogues.

IME casual for a works party usually means party dresses for women and smart jeans and a shirt for men. It might not actually "mean" that, butnthars what people do.

Are the men expected to "sparkle"?

I have a silver sequin top i have worn with M&S black flare jeans and silver ballet pumps or light blue flares and trainers.

Felt great in both outfits, sparkly without being over the top!

I saw this dress recommended somewhere the other day so I went to a store and tried it on. It's so nice, comes in 5 colours and a great price.

A cardi with some sparkle in it (I got one from H&M last year!) and either velvet or satin wide leg trousers would be nice? Try M&S for trousers. I’d just wear with trainers but boots or ballet flats would be nice too.

Just saw this in Oliver Bonas, it’s really nice. They have teamed it with burgundy cropped barrel leg jeans but could see it with other colours or black mini too

Roman Originals do loads of sparkly stuff for christmas.

I have a red sparkly kimono style top that I bought for £7 in the sale a few years ago, and I always get this out if I go to anything that has sparkle in the dress code.

this is a cute sweatshirt. you can glam it up like in the photo with a skirt or just get it baggy and wear with jeans... but it sparkles and is christmassy without feeling like you're wrapped in tin foil...

But mostly don't worry too much - to the earlier point, I doubt the guys are going to bother sparkling much!
