Sporty thong back swimsuit

24kPalamino · 01/11/2025 17:02

Looking for a swimsuit that isn’t too low cut, that has a sporty look and a thong bottom.
struggling to find something sporty enough.
If anyone has seen or purchased something like this, then I’d appreciate a recommendation.

Many thanks!

Displaying arse cheeks isn't the only way to be 'sexually attractive', plus basing happiness on other people's opinion of you isn't exactly empowering. I'd be more empowered by good my own sporting skill, or in admiration of OPs technique, than any arse cheeks.

Edited

Well we’re all different, aren’t we?

No, arse cheeks aren’t the only way to look sexy, but I don’t think we said they were, did we?

We also didn’t say anything about basing happiness on other people’s opinions.

NashEnquirer · 02/11/2025 09:43

Christ alive OP, bet you're regretting this 😂

FWIW, I wouldn't wear a thong swimsuit whilst paddle boarding (or in any other situation tbh!) if you paid me a million quid, but I support your right to do so and will put this down as a great day to mind my own business 👍

Wanting to appear 'sexually attractive' is basing your happiness on other's opinions.

Maybe check out Arena swimsuits next time too. Some of the styles have really high legs and cheeky bums and they're fabulous suits. Sporty, functional and sexy.

Yes. Once I understood what the OP was after, I was going to say check out some proper swim brands like Arena and Jaked. They don’t have thongs but there are some very high cut styles in the training ranges. Plus they’re cheaper than the ones posted here.

I must admit I was initially surprised by the request for something sporty with a thong but I can see how it wouldn’t be too much of an issue on a SUP as your lower body is fairly static.

HostaCentral · 02/11/2025 09:48

Tbf it's a style that a lot of fit people need due to large glutes! DD can't wear any standard swimsuits because they don't have enough bum capacity and cut in, so the only option is a large amount of but on display. Sorry if that offends.

Speedo do a couple that DD found on Vinted for a reasonable price, new with tags.

ChicJoker · 02/11/2025 09:49

The thong haters are so tedious. I have one from asos it’s perfect I’ll try and find the link. It has a waist band that cinches too but not visible from outside so it’s fabulously flattering

will try and find now but worth googling in the meantime

Agree with this generally. Interesting that your DD has found some good Speedo ones as I find that Speedo are generally the worst for anyone of any height/with any curves. It’s a great irony as swimmers are often tall! I used to wear Nike swimsuits for training as they were cut for curvier people (I’m not especially curvy either, just not rail thin) but then as far I could find out they stopped selling them in the UK. I’ve managed to get a few on eBay etc and a friend in the US has picked a couple up for me since, but I was so disappointed when the Nike ones disappeared.

What a silly comment. People are allowed to find thongs hideous if they choose, and thankfully most folk at my local pool agree. Also, if someone cannot fit their bum in a normal costume they probably need a larger size. It's crazy, apparently feminism only applies to certain folks.
I hope OP finds something, but thong cuts will always look ridiculous to some folk.

HostaCentral · 02/11/2025 09:54

MagpiePi · 02/11/2025 07:45

You see this argument when anyone mentions women in the gym.
Apparently women wear tight, revealing clothing because it’s the most comfortable and practical thing to wear when working out, but men seem to find baggy shorts and t shirts the most comfortable and practical thing to wear in the gym. Weird, huh?

You've obviously not watched much lifting. Check out the singlets, women and men wear the same.

That's so body shaming. Larger sizes are too baggy everywhere else. You are basing your assumptions on a narrow body type. If you are short bodied, with a tiny waist and big but, as many athletes are, you need a size xs or 6, with a cutaway bum. No other suit would fit reasonably.

Paaseitjes · 02/11/2025 10:01

Jolyn swimsuits! They're proper training suits, fully lined and chlorine resistant, but with a variety of leg cuts.

😂😂😂.

people are allowed to find thongs “hideous”, similarly, people are allowed to love them!

people are also allowed to find people who are concerned by other people’s wearing of such tedious and silly.

if you’re thankful that most people at “your pool” agree, chances are you’re not all that pleased that others can have a different opinion to you which makes you a bit contradictory really.

feminism is about choice babes and applies to all women, it’s not about what you deem acceptable for other “folk”

I do agree about proportions. The cutaway bum (not a thong but fairly high cut styles) are often necessary to get a fit on the waist.

It's not bodyshaming to suggest someone wears something that fits.
I'm an ex-swim parent and have seen male and female swimmers of all shapes and sizes and none of them needed thongs, even the ones competing at national level who often had amazing muscular bodies.

Is your brand of feminism only for those agreeing with you then?

Speedo drove me nuts when swimming loads, because there was such variation in how they fit, and when I finally found the perfect fit for me they stopped making it and the search began again. Their suits are one of the better wearing ones, for swimming in chlorinated pools at least.

BitOutOfPractice · 02/11/2025 10:06

Wear what you like op (though I prefer shorts style bottoms for paddle boarding) but while your bottom is going to get an all over tan, the suit you’ve chosen is going to give you really prominent tan lines in an area far more prominent to everyone part from you and your dh. That’s what confuses me.

ChicJoker · 02/11/2025 10:07

No. It’s for all women like I said.

if you don’t like thongs, don’t wear them. That’s your choice. Feminism you see 😉 no one is forcing you to.

Then, don’t disapprove of other women choosing to wear what they’re comfortable in and/or makes them feel good.

does YOUR brand of feminism only apply to those agreeing with you?

SeaAndStars · 02/11/2025 10:10

My DH and two closest friends have all had skin cancer in the last two years.

The main thing about this thread for me is the wanting a sun tan.
Do what you like with your ass OP, but don't get a tan. It might kill you.

Feminism isn't telling other women they're not allowed an opinion or calling them names such as tedious.
Lots of us questioned why OP wanted a thong, none of us told her she couldn't wear one though.
Some people questioned the conditioning of women to wear less and less clothes, while there's not the same drive regarding men - that's a valid point.
As stated, I hope OP finds what she wants.

Oh DFOD. There’s no reason for anyone to question anything. She asked for a recommendation not an opinion.

Anyway OP, I can’t find the link sorry!!!

There's every reason for people to question whatever they chose, particularly when many women have been conditioned into certain ways of thinking. That's feminism and empowerment.

SprayWhiteDung · 02/11/2025 10:22

In the old days, "I'll tan your hide!" was what your parent said to you when you'd misbehaved!!

Mosconi race suits were always good for more muscular shapes - and Dolfin Uglies were the go-to for training suits for every shape and size.

I appreciate your concern genuinely, but I wouldn’t know how not to get a tan to be honest. I tan quite easily.

I’ll be in a country that is sunny and has a daily high of around 35-37 degrees. I tend to have lengthy trips there, much longer than your standard 2 weeks because this place is my original home. I can’t cover up as I find it too hot, plus I do a lot of outdoor activities in nature - I mean daily. And that is very good for my health.

I wear between factor 30 to 50 sunscreen religiously, but still tan. And whilst I try to avoid the midday sun on a regular day, when you’re out doing something like a 6 mile paddle, you really can’t decide just to come in the shade for 4 hours. It’s my lifestyle and I’ve always accepted there is a risk, but I try to be as responsible as possible. The alternative would be not to live this lifestyle and for me that’s just not a life. I’m super passionate about the outdoors, paddle boarding, horse riding and hiking in particular. I’m still tanned now from my last trip as I was outside so much and that was many months ago.

I’m sorry about your DH and friends though.
