Facelift etc..

I’m looking to have face “refreshment” surgery in Nordesthetics Clinic in Lithuania. (lift, upper lid reduction and possibly brow lift) …i’m ( suddenly!) in late 50’s and after few tough years and losing few stones I want to feel good and reward myself for once.
I’m fatigued after researching uk options, and not finding a clear winner for me, but I’ve found this clinic to have excellent reviews and the least percentage of poor reviews so far … ( of those with 500 + reviews , except the one uk surgeon who charges from 35k for a facelift .. )…so I’ve decided to bite the bullet and book …any recommendations, advice or experience with them you can share, would be great , (first or second hand),most reviews I read were about great body surgery, and general high standards but not more specific about individual surgeons etc ..so, I don’t have nearly as much specific info as I would like …thank you !

And presumably if there are any issues you expect the NHS to sort you out and pick up the bill?

What a bizarre comment.

Go for it OP! Honestly i think facelifts are amazing and make people look so much younger and healthier - I used to be so anti cosmetic surgery when i lived in the UK, but now I live in a part of the world where it's common and i will definitely be having a facelift myself when the time comes!

Not sure about the clinic as i havent researched it but sounds like you have and it sounds really good. I would say check the negative reviews (however few) just to make sure there were no huge mistakes! Thats what i always do when researching clinics.

There is a beauty influencer called 'diaryofabeauytygeek' on youtube who is about to go to this particular clinic for surgery. She is having a arm pit lift, removing fat from her upper arms and a breast lift. She will be documenting her experience on YouTube and I'm sure there will be others that have done so. Her treatment isn't sponsored at least that is what she says and she was able to join a closed Facebook group to discuss surgeons and see pics from people who have had their surgery. I of course, am not suggesting this be your only route of research.

With any surgery abroad it is important to consider all the extra costs like flights, accommodation, food, needing someone else to go out with you etc. The most important thing though would be the aftercare and what that looks like, could you afford return trips or do they have options where you could get that back in the UK? I'd take your time and research all your options.

It happens a lot though. Nothing bizarre about it at all.

iwantavuvezela · 21/10/2025 07:52

I went to Nord (not aesethics but different surgery), and would highly recommend them. they have a Facebook page dedicated to people who do these treatments which you might find useful.

Not really. Hopefully there wont be issues but it's something the OP needs to consider. If it doesnt go to plan the OP wont be going back to Lithuania to get it fixed will she.

Stuckoncrossroads · 21/10/2025 10:42

Thank you for your responses, really appreciate it and will research more before committing 😊.. yes it’s the bad reviews that I try to focus on..so far my go-to is Trustpilot, but I will check social media more.
I have no issue with efforts to feel and look better/fitter/healthier, whether workout, weight management or procedures (if you can afford it and willing/brave enough to go through the process/pain etc).. just wish it was more straightforward to find decent safe options..I’ve seen very few v bad reviews, next to vast majority of great ones…but that’s universal, no surgery is 100% safe .. it still feels like a gamble, especially its face ..hence still looking for advice….the more I research, the less I’m clear…

p.s. no need for judgemental grumpy comments, I worked so hard to get fit and lose 4+ stone, only to go from looking youthful for my age,to suddenly looking tired and not so healthy. Reversing my prediabetes on the way saved the nhs loads ……). Thanks all .

I have heard great things about that clinic. I had a deep plane facelift at Coppergate in York in April, it achieved my objectives and I am happy with the outcome.. It was important to me to have it done in this country and I had total faith in my surgeon Mr Chris West.

TheCaribbeanIsCallingMe · 21/10/2025 10:55

I can't comment on that clinic Op, but I had a facelift, necklift, and upper & lower bleph 2 years ago (when I was 53). In fact, it's 2 years today EXACTLY that I had mine!

I'm delighted with the results. The eye surgery was pain free afterwards, but I found the rest quite painful for the first 3 days, so make sure you have heavy painkillers. I was sent away with nothing (!) and told to take paracetamol. I had to get hold of some cocodamol (30mg) to ease the pain.

I had a thread on here at the time, documenting it all. I'll see if I can find it.

Thank you so much for taking the time, that’s very helpful, and you are right, extra costs are easily overlooked…I’m a bit wary of social media because I heard that clinics specifically ask about social media and reward influencers for posts ..and also block those who criticise .. 😳..there is too much clashing data to know for sure …the aftercare in this clinic seems great from the reviews …(except .. I don’t like the generic robotic responses to the few negative comments …), I am relying partly on the European high standards, wouldn’t be comfortable going somewhere outside EU where I feel it’s much more of a minefield …

Thank you for the information, that’s amazing, so glad that’s it’s been a success! I’ve looked at this clinic and was in my shortlist, (I think it has multiple locations not very close to me, but closer than Lithuania !) .. then got lost a bit between the mixed reviews and various information that was too much for my brain to process .. and postponed the whole thing …was recovery very painful ? I would absolutely love any more info you can share ( what was great or wasn’t , any other advice ..).. thank you so much for sharing! And congratulations 🥳

I can’t wait to check it all out later when I get home …first hand experience is everything… I will probably have more questions once I’ve read it all ha.. thank you so much and enjoy ..fortune favours the brave I say 😁

What a bizarre comment.

Why? NHS hospitals already stretched to breaking point end up dealing with botched foreign cosmetic surgery all the time. It's a fair question.

firstly, it’s no different than if something goes wrong after a surgery in UK, you go to A&E in emergencies. The clinic I’m considering asks you to stay nearby for a week, in the uk you usually go home the next day I believe. Outside emergencies, if a procedure requires revision , it wouldn’t be on the nhs regardless where it was performed, but that’s all part of the reason I’m making an effort to do a good research and come to a good decision with the help of lovely mumsnetters, and not just running to cheap questionable clinics..I find these comments presumptuous, grumpy and unhelpful ..

Look It's totally up to you what you spend your own money on, however vain and superficial it may make you seem to others. But I think the rest of us are allowed an opinion regarding the NHS footing the bill when things go wrong with needless, vanity surgery. I agree it is the same whether said surgery is carried out here or abroad, but foreign surgery does tend to throw up some dreadful, life changing (in a bad way) results.

If you are really feeling so much better from losing weight and becoming healthier why not just embrace ALL of the new you?

Gettingbysomehow · 21/10/2025 13:22

I'm booked in there in May for a classic facelift OP, I'm 63 and looking a bit ragged round the edges.
My sister lives in Lithuania and ALL her friends go there, it has an excellent reputation with EU standards of care. I didn't fancy Turkey.
They also do their own corrections if anything goes wrong so you won't have to bother the NHS, one of my friends had a 360 degree tummy tuck that needed revision and they did it for free. Medical insurance covered the additional costs of accomodation and rebooking flights.
Just make sure you get medical insurance.
I can't wait. I also had an online consultation with my surgeon beforehand to discuss issues, my main issue is my neck which has gone south.
I've been very impressed so far.

If it goes wrong this clinic does the revision for free and you get medical insurance to cover the flight rebooking and accommodation.
I want a full facelift, I have for ages so I looked specifically for a clinic that takes responsibility for any failed surgery. I've been a medical professional for 46 years and have researched this place thoroughly. It's not like Turkey, I wouldn't touch those clinics with a 10 foot bargepole.
I don't want to embrace my turkey neck thanks - I want to get rid of it and look good for my age.
Likewise other people with huge weight losses don't want to embrace a stomach that hangs down to their knees and gets sweaty and fungal..
I need body work but I can't be bothered with it, I'm not in a relationship and am unlikely to be in one at my age - but I want to look good for me. Any future man that wants to go out with me will have to lump my body.

I wasn't meaning the NHS would potentially be funding/carrying out revision work, more some kind of resulting energency treatment should it be required.

As I said, totally up to a person what they spend their money on but I find it sad that people can't seem to accept that older people look.... well, older! I see my face as a map of my life so far. Yes it's wrinkly and saggy here and there but so what? I am 61 not 31! I am fully embracing my hagdom 😉 and if anyone else finds my face a problem then off they can fuck
.
Having said that I've never bought in to high heels, make up or uncomfortable clothes either, so accept that I am maybe a bit of a outlier.

Vodka1 · 21/10/2025 14:00

I'm there next year for a thigh lift! Excited!

I'd recommend travelling out for consultation, it may give you some peace of mind & it's not overly expensive to get there, they also do clinics in the UK, London on occasions too.

You can ask for multiple surgeons to look at what you want doing via email and see what they recommend + then research them individually & book in specifically with them, should you wish, but from what I gather they are all very qualified and very good

Viviennemary · 21/10/2025 14:04

Far too risky. Not worth it.

Chewbecca · 21/10/2025 14:12

Honestly i think facelifts are amazing and make people look so much younger and healthier

This is the part that boggles me. These procedures do not make you younger or healthier, in fact you risk health by having unnecessary surgery. Why is everyone so superficial now, why can't health be just that - good health, not something you (think you can) see.
