Having it done this Saturday. I booked it about 10 weeks ago, after dithering for a year or two. I'm almost 54 years old. Eek!

Tiredmummy. This is very interesting and sounds like a very different business model to the clinic I used. My clinic has several branches nationwide so was by no means a small outfit. I like the way your clinic sounds! I’m guessing it’s probably a lot more expensive.

Yes for lower face and neck lift and double bleph we'd charge around 14k, would do it under a GA and keep you in clinic overnight to manage pain and keep an eye on recovery, surgeon would check and discharge next morning. Your results look normal for this stage though so I'm sure your surgeon has done a good job and hopefully everything goes smoothly from now and you have amazing results. I understand why patients opt for a local anaesthetic but with long procedures a general is better, I'm surprised you didn't go into shock and to discharge you with otc pain meds was cruel most patients after lipo to the lower face need something strong for first few days. Good luck with rest of your recovery can't wait to see your final results.

Thank you tiredmummy

I certainly was in a LOT of pain that first night. Paced the floors all night! I think my body did have a bit of shock, because half way through the procedure my legs started shaking uncontrollably. It didn’t last, but when I got home I then had terrible restless legs for about 12 hours, which just made everything so much worse!

I feel so much better now, thank goodness!

aloeleaf I am not the same poster as wagsandclaws. 🥹 I have read her thread, so I know who you mean. We don’t even look alike, apart from being blonde 😆 And I don’t think she had an upper and lower bleph from memory.

I purposely haven’t mentioned my surgeon 😳 I won’t be saying his name either. I’m in Scotland. I’m not her. She got amazing results though.

They don’t look like the same people at all. You’re being very strange.

Anyway, feeling good today! Sleeping is hard sitting up, but I’m getting about 5 hours a night on the sofa. Neck is swollen, but I think going down. The head brace thing is an annoyance but I just need to follow the instructions and keep it on for now. The eye tapes can come off on Saturday, so I will post pics then. It’s getting easier to eat. I’ve graduated from a tea spoon to a normal sized spoon. This is good if you’re dieting 😂

Oh and something else to mention- TMI ….but I haven’t been able to go to the loo since this happened. I’m normally regular as clock work, but I haven’t been since before the Op! It’s not uncomfortable, probably because I’m not eating much, but that’s weird isn’t it?!

I don't think this is promotional post, she hasn't mentioned her surgeon just the clinic, and has said her experience in theatre was traumatic and post op aftercare was non existent so she had to resort to using the Nhs, Hardly a glowing review. Also had an additional procedure which the other lady did not have.

Happy to confirm that if @CollagenQueen has done this thread as an 'advertorial' it has had quite the opposite effect! In fact I'm very grateful to you @CollagenQueen for being honest and open about your experiences.

That's not great, same happened to me when I broke my leg and arm. Factors I can think of are inadequate fluids intake, inadequate food which you mentioned and being sedentary/relatively immobile.

You do need nutrition for good healing, not sure what you can do if it's difficult to eat, though. How about some puréed spinach? You'd need a good protein with that, I can't think of a soft protein though, maybe someone else can.

It could be the pain medication causing this, it's quite common. Try some gentle laxatives and drink lots of water.

I didn't go for over a week after my last two surgeries, which caused issues as they didn't want to discharge me until I did. I think it's the strong painkillers.

Personally, I can't keep Movicol down but that's one option. Or a combination of senna tablets and lactulose. You want to be a bit careful to keep on top of it (which I didn't and regretted).

madeinmanc · 25/10/2023 08:15

A few cups of strong coffee (real not instant) might help, too. Like others said, speaking from experience it's best to address this 😬

Probably a combo of pain meds, not eating, and not moving around much.

Get someone to make you a big pot of healthy vegetable soup, drink loads of water, and make sure you're taking regular walks round the house and up and down the stairs.

CollagenQueen · 25/10/2023 09:35

Thanks all. I’m drinking loads of water. I’ve been told no caffeine for a week. I’m not feeling any ill effects from it. Yet!

Pain meds slow down your digestion and urination. Drink plenty, and eat lots of fibre. Stewed fruit is most effective.

Catsfrontbum · 25/10/2023 09:44

Apple juice, prunes, hearty fiber filled soups- purée them up.

You need hot drinks to help the bowels.

WeighDownOnMeStayTillMorning · 25/10/2023 12:32

After my mum had me she was told to get regular again with a black coffee and a cigarette every morning 😁

Maybe just the coffee for you...
