@JoRaRaRa That’s terrible! Honestly I think @B1anche has the right idea! I’d at least decant some into a small bottle, enough to cover your postage and inconvenience! Well worth opening and repackaging to do so.

It infuriates me the way Vinted allow sellers to get away with doing this by making the innocent buyers pay for postage, and worse is that sometimes it’s not worth them returning something (a top for example) and they are stuck with something of no use to them.
I was stung as a buyer purchasing some face cream, the seller had good reviews, but had a couple of the same one listed. One was cheaper due to the lid having a dint in it, I purchased the more expensive one. They sent me the damaged one and I had to cover the cost of the return. I was furious.
On the flip side, I sold something and the buyer said the package arrived empty. The buyer got a full refund, and I was completely out of pocket.

I have had mostly good experiences though.

@Growlybear83 That’s so annoying! I have had similar happen to me, it makes no sense. I’ve purchased fragrances which have had a little spray from.
I also tried to list an empty BAC box yesterday and it got removed. Yet I’ve seen lots of other people selling them on there!
They aren’t consistent with their rules.

Hello everyone have just caught up on the thread, have been ok with a few new beauty vinted items which had seals on but those experiences would make me more wary. I think an advent is a lovely present 🎁

DoctorMartin · 11/10/2025 21:00

Thanks all. I went a bit mad yesterday and ordered both my girls the Boots beauty - £150 each! That really is what they would get as a main present so hoping it’s ok to wait and wrap up for Xmas day itself. We’ve had a duff year and I’ve been saving up but still feeling a bit guilty about it tbh. Although I know they’d love it early, one is at Uni anyway so won’t want to bring it back on the train.

HollyGolightly4 · 11/10/2025 21:02

I think advent calendars make wonderful presents!

Hi apologies I’m new to the thread so sorry if this has been asked and answered millions of times before.
Is it acceptable to give advent calendars as Christmas presents? Or does that completely defeat the object?

I have asked my DH for a beauty advent calendar for my birthday for the last couple of years. Perfect present if you ask me! 😃

Thelifeofawife · 11/10/2025 21:05

@DoctorMartin It’s a fabulous gift and I’m sure they will love it! They can either open everything at once or save it for January to shift the new year blues.
I’d thrilled if someone bought one for me

pinkchampagne1 · 11/10/2025 21:05

That’s shocking, JoRaRaRa. I can’t believe they expect you to pay the postage costs to return the perfume. 😬

Growlybear83 · 11/10/2025 21:17

I think a beauty advent calendar is a lovely Xmas present. My husband buys me one for a joint early December birthday and Xmas present each year. I bought the Neals Yard calendar for my daughter three years ago. She arrived home a couple of days before xmas and I gave it to her straight away as she’s a Muslim and wouldn’t have wanted to open it on xmas day. She was like a five year old again in the way she dived in and pulled everything out in the space of a couple of minutes. 🤣🤣

I missed H&B, I was going to get one this year having had it a couple of times in the past but not last year. I cannot justify £100+ on some of the brands, so I'm disappointed to have missed H&B. Anybody got any suggestions for a £30-60 ish alternative? Is the M&S one only in store?

I might have to follow through on the thing I've thought about doing, and spending the equivalent at a MAC counter. I know I'd only get a couple of products, but I do adore their stuff and last time I bought make up was before the pandemic.

Addictedtobeauty · 11/10/2025 21:36

@JoRaRaRa hard to believe the brass neck of some people. I cannot fathom how someone can justify to themselves the outright lie nor how Vinted can essentially turn a blind eye. Very unfair.

I love BAC so much, I buy myself one for my birthday month every year- June. I’ve completely forgotten what was in it by then and delight in the daily ritual.

Maybe Boots Skincare? It’s a bit more at £70 but possibly could be brought down a bit if you have some advantage card offers. I got it this week and it’s really lovely, but obviously only if the focus is skincare rather than makeup. Otherwise I’d maybe suggest waiting for another discount code for ASOS 🤞

Have a look through this list although some may not still be available (like H&B they could come back in stock, it's hard to tell)

@TabbieMctatty - in 2022, LF reduced the a/c on BF - literally just for a couple of hours at £51, then the price went back up.

I’m not aware of them doing anything similar since, but if it doesn’t sell out in the next week or two, I can see them offering a discount code for 10% or so. Of course, it could also sell out tomorrow 🤷‍♀️

ASOS were giving 10% off theirs last week with a code, but that’s stopped now. Again, I would expect a small discount if it’s not sold out soon, (but no guarantees).

There’s a code knocking around for £5 off the GlossyBox a/c but I can’t remember what it is. Someone on here will probably know.

One way to maybe get a bit of money back, (but not guaranteed to track), is by going through TCB or Quidco - both of which were offering a little bit back on those advent calendars the last time I looked.

There are so many a/c out now and with sales starting so much earlier, it’s hard to know when these will sell out/if there will be any reductions.

Having said all that, some people get paid next week, others at the end of October, so I would expect increased sales during payday periods.

Edited

Thank you @IlovePond . That is really helpful info!! Really appreciate it. Ive has an unexpected car expense today but hopefully can grab one next week (fingers crossed!!)

I seen on IG that SNK are restocking the Jellycat instore and online on the 14th if anyone was interested!

They aren’t consistent with their rules.

I put up two fabric advent calenders I'd made about a month ago. They are beautifully made (even if I say so myself) and they were removed. Vinted T&Cs do say no advent calendars but there are hundreds for sale and I've just had automated responses when I've asked why.

Giftwithpurchase · 11/10/2025 22:25

Sorry realised I didn't reply to the pp about the Jellycats - you have to be logged into your ndulge account to be able to buy as they weren't available for general sale

Giftwithpurchase · 11/10/2025 22:27

Finished going through my Boots skincare today and am very pleased with it. Stocked up my dwindling supplies nicely. Only things I won't be using are the spot stickers and the burts bees lip balm purely cos to me it smells rank!

Cyclingmummy1 · 11/10/2025 22:30

JoRaRaRa · 11/10/2025 17:18

So talking about vinted purchases going wrong, I bought a PDM oriana from someone on vinted claiming to have only sprayed it a few times on her wedding day. It's just arrived and there's less than half a bottle left 😡 so now I have to pay to return it.

Hmm. Did she list it as new as you can only sell new beauty items? You could report her for breaching the rules?

IlovePond · 11/10/2025 22:44

@WeNeedToTalkAboutIT GlossyBox is £90, (but someone on here may remember the discount code that gave £5 off), or £75 if you are a GB subscriber.

I think the GB a/c is pretty good - it’s definitely my favourite ‘mixed’ calendar under £100. Best skincare under £100 is the Boots one for £70, although if you like Soap and Glory, their calendar is £43.20 at Boots, which is a bargain!

lookonthebrightside0 · 11/10/2025 23:42

10OFF gets you 10% off Glossybox

WeNeedToTalkAboutIT · 12/10/2025 00:03

Thanks for the suggestions folks. From the Glossybox suggestions, I'm pretty tempted to do a 12 month subscription - spend and spread the idea of opening stuff over 12 months. They're advertising a free gift worth over £100, too much to hope that it's the advent calendar isn't it?!

M&S does look like nice brands I wouldn't normally treat myself to. And I could do with a couple of bras which would solve the spend £35 thing. Ooh decisions decisions...

That’s ridiculous! I don’t see what their issue is with empty advent boxes, but even more so for handmade products, it’s such a lovely idea. Have you tried listing them on eBay instead?
You could maybe try listing them on Vinted as Christmas garland/decor or something along those lines, so that when people search for Christmas things it comes up?

IlovePond · 12/10/2025 01:09

@WeNeedToTalkAboutIT - lots of people like the GlossyBox subscriptions, but please just be aware it can be quite difficult to cancel it.

Thanks @lookonthebrightside0 - I had forgotten about that code completely!

It's mad, isn't it? I've got wreaths and stockings for sale, no problem.

Reading the guidance, Vinted doesn't allow 'surprise' boxes, which I suppose is what a filled advent is - but these are blatantly empty pockets.

BlueLimes · 12/10/2025 07:54

It’s so annoying, I’ve the Liberty box from 2 years ago I’d like to sell. I’ve put on vinted twice clearly saying empty and it’s been removed.
