Final sale item on its way- check cotton linen shorts (same material as the patch pocket trousers that I'm keeping).

Despite despatch delays, ended up a pretty enjoyable/good sale for me this time (trousers plus two dresses so far) - just needed more homeware. Prices were good and I liked having a single drop - I do get a bit tired of the drip feeding and restocking on the longer sales.

ScottishMouse · 07/10/2025 15:02

Well, having laughed at the idea of quilted trousers last week, I may need to eat my words. I tried on the navy ones in store at the weekend but didn’t love the colour (I don’t like a purple leaning navy, I much prefer a grey leaning navy). They didn’t have the lighter colour so I ordered them online. The fit is perfect (apart from the length, as is usual for me), just the same as the cord barrel legs. The colour is a little darker and almost pinkish which wasn't sure about at first, but I have tried them on with a bunch of things and they are surprisingly versatile, and very very comfy. I need to think about them a bit more, but trousers that fit well are tricky for me to find, so these might actually be a keeper. Pyjamas as outdoor wear for the win!

ShrankLastWinter · 07/10/2025 20:45

Ok I’m glad at least @ScottishMousemay be converting because I loved the idea at first glance and then felt silly because you all were hating

ScottishMouse · 07/10/2025 21:04

I think they definitely have potential @ShrankLastWinter. I’m going to try them again tomorrow with a sensible head on and make a decision on them.

Hi, has anyone got the cord a line skirt offered in blue or olive? Or the Freya pear dress in cord?

just wondering how you like them. How adjustable is the waist of the skirt ?. The size 10 measurement online is tiny but I know there is some elastic. How roomy is the Freya bust wise ? Tia

I have the Freya dress in pear cord - I really like it and wear it quite often. It is quite roomy - I sized down.

I have the cord skirt from last season in cream - it looks the same as the olive to me. This one I would say is true to size - there are two button options and the elastic, but I wouldn’t want it any smaller than it is.

BankfieldForever · 09/10/2025 14:58

I have the Freya in the blue. Its very roomy and if I could buy it again I’d size down (I’m a high street 12 and I think the medium I have is far too big, even for an oversized look.

faustina · 09/10/2025 17:09

Reporting back on the Nishiguchi hand warmers. They are really nice! It think most hand warmers have a gap in the seam for your thumb, but this pair is a bit different and much more helpful for me as I have Raynaud's and it has really good coverage if you want it to. Completely impossible to try on without cutting the label off - it seems as if they put it on the wrong end, so I had to contact Toast before doing that

I’ve been looking for some bamboo hand warmers / fingerless gloves to wear when I’m working at my computer as I have arthritis in my hands. Every site I look at turns out to be a scam or have terrible reviews, I wish toast would make something for those of us who can’t wear wool.

IlovePond · 09/10/2025 19:24

@Theteapotsbrokenspout would these be any good?

https://lotties-eco.co.uk/products/bamboo-fingerless-gloves?

Or these?

https://cosybearcompany.com/products/100-bamboo-red-black-reversible-gloves

Not being able to wear wool is such a shame.

I developed a wool allergy in my early 20s, so was constantly searching for alternatives to wool as even the slightest contact brought me out in a huge rash and even being near it made me sneeze.

Weirdly I then ‘grew out’ of my allergy just a few years ago and the blue Toast jacquard jumper I bought then was my first woolly for decades.

I developed an allergic reaction to cats at the same time as the allergy to wool, (despite growing up with them), but that’s still active😿

Unisex Ethical Bamboo Neck Snood

Ethically made in the UK, neck tube is unisex, one-size fits all, made from bamboo. It feels soft, warm and comfortable.

Oooo thank you @IlovePond I especially like the cosy bear ones. Just deciding what colour to get ………….

BankfieldForever · 09/10/2025 20:10

The sale stuff I sent back landed today but no word at all from Toast. It must be a very busy time for them.

I’m trying not to look at current offerings, I know there are a few things I’d order (striped half sleeve jumper, geometric silk trousers and the matching navy shirt) and I absolutely do not need any more fancy clothes.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 09/10/2025 20:26

Thanks @BankfieldForever . @IlovePond have you ever bought anything from the cosy bear company? I’ve just looked into their Facebook page and lots of the positive reviews are from fake profiles - now a bit worried about buying from there (everything looked so nice ☹️ ).

Stoic123 · 09/10/2025 21:21

Final sale item arrived yesterday- hooray!

Check cotton linen shorts - very nice. If they reappear in the next sale and anyone fancies them- I'd recommend. I'm normally not a fan of shorts but these are flattering.

IlovePond · 10/10/2025 08:11

Hi @Theteapotsbrokenspout - I haven’t but I was looking for some myself when you mentioned wanting some so had a look.

I looked at the TP reviews but didn’t notice they were fake - I am so sorry.

IlovePond · 10/10/2025 08:17

That’s weird @Theteapotsbrokenspout - I found their reviews on TP yesterday, but can’t see them today.

OP posts:
Theteapotsbrokenspout · 10/10/2025 08:22

It’s not your fault @IlovePond , looking into it a bit more it seems like the original cosy bear company may have been dissolved and someone is using their name.
Its a bit of minefield buying online - so many scammers out there ☹️.

IlovePond · 10/10/2025 08:40

Thank you @Theteapotsbrokenspout that’s kind of you.

I will never understand the mentality of scammers.

On an unrelated note: Toast have finally refunded me for my sale returns. Not impressed by their service all-round this last sales period.

CashmereCat · 10/10/2025 08:41

@Theteapotsbrokenspout
Can you wear cashmere?

I have many pairs of Turtle Doves cashmere arm warmers/ hand warmers and they are beautiful, soft and warm
Bonus they are a small British company and the cashmere is repurposed.

faustina · 10/10/2025 10:15

@Theteapotsbrokenspout - can you wear polyester and acrylic? There were quite a few of these in TK Maxx the other day. Some long and very brightly coloured arm warmers by a brand called Soon and some by another brand called Elle.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 10/10/2025 10:31

@CashmereCat unfortunately not - my list of fabric allergies gets longer every year.

@faustina I could, but I’ve started to notice a few problems recently, I would need to try them on in store. I really thought it would be easy to order bamboo ones online.

Ignore that -they are wool Confused

Stravaig · 10/10/2025 12:45

@Theteapotsbrokenspout Are you allergic to sheep's wool specifically, or all animal fibres spun into yarn? Angora, cashmere, mohair, alpaca, yak, qiviut, bison, llama, camel, possum, silk ...

Some are speciality items, hard to find, expensive, and might need to befriend a handknitter to create the item you want, but could be a worthwhile investment against arthritis, reynaud's etc. (I wear wrist warmers most of the year :)

Glad I’m not the only one to come back from a whale watching trip in Iceland not having seen any whales!
i tried on the gorgeous Frankie vibrant check coat. It is the most beautiful quality. I loved the shape, the deep pockets and the colours, but when I was mulling it over afterwards I couldn’t shake the image of Sherlock Holmes from mind. I think it might be my hair-style and colour which isn’t helping and I’m thinking I should have gone for last year’s model with the different colour-way. When I told my DH about Sherlock Holmes he said ‘And is that bad?’

The Sherlock Holmes reference made me chuckle: I once bought a waxed Mulberry coat in their classic plaid check, which I love. Was looking forward to wearing it, but Sherlock Holmes came too impacting to mind when I looked in the mirror before leaving home.
That was the only time I ever wore it... Still have it, in the back of some overfilled closet.
