@Theteapotsbrokenspout Are you allergic to sheep's wool specifically, or all animal fibres spun into yarn? Angora, cashmere, mohair, alpaca, yak, qiviut, bison, llama, camel, possum, silk ...

Some are speciality items, hard to find, expensive, and might need to befriend a handknitter to create the item you want, but could be a worthwhile investment against arthritis, reynaud's etc. (I wear wrist warmers most of the year :)

Hahaha!!! 😆 love " befriend a handknitter "

Or you could have a look on Etsy

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 10/10/2025 13:17

@Stravaig anything that’s remotely 'wool' gives me a reaction, although I haven’t tried all those suggestions . My sister knitted gloves spun from her Samoyeds coat, that was the same. I used to knit in cotton for myself, but I can’t knit now because of my hands, and my very expensive knitting machine got damaged moving and couldn’t be repaired.

Silk is weird, feels ok but makes me sweat. I have got a nice toast cotton and silk shirt that I can happily wear though.

CakeAndJazz · 10/10/2025 14:18

@faustina the colour on those hand warmers is so lovely. I’m just wondering whether I might find the thumb/hand style you’ve pointed uncomfortable, and whether it would leave my fingers exposed. Seems impossible to try on given how they’ve sewn on the label.

faustina · 10/10/2025 14:25

@CakeAndJazz - it's actually really comfortable and you can pull it down or push it up as required. It WAS impossible to try on without removing the label - so silly! I had to email Toast and send them a pic to explain, and then they said go ahead and take the label off to try them on. If it hadn't worked for me I'd have sent them straight back with the label and bits of red thread unattached!

Thank you @Theteapotsbrokenspout that’s kind of you.

I will never understand the mentality of scammers.

On an unrelated note: Toast have finally refunded me for my sale returns. Not impressed by their service all-round this last sales period.

Did you get any emails about your returns? My returns parcels (using their tracked returns labels) were delivered to Toast yesterday morning and I’ve still not heard anything at all from them. They’re not even showing as returned on the website.

I have the tracking numbers so I’ll be chasing it up if nothing happens on Monday.

Me too. I’m a handknitter but I’d never knit for a friend, even my bestie! 😈

Stravaig · 10/10/2025 14:48

@Theteapotsbrokenspout I hope you find something that works. Sorry for the question, you clearly have the awareness and expertise to experiment! Sometimes people don't know the specific triggers, or don't realise that what we think of as 'wool' can be many different fibres.

If you find a fabric that's okay, maybe brushing or fine quilting would make it a bit more snuggly? Or, I know they make fine-channel down slipper socks and scarves, many something like that for wristwarmers? If you can tolerate a shell fabric and some kind of down.

Sending love, it sounds like a colossal nuisance ♥️

AmethystMoonShine · 10/10/2025 15:27

@BankfieldForever My returns landed at Toast on Wednesday according to my tracking but still no sign of any acknowledgement and not showing in my Toast account either...let alone my bank account! Such slow service this year,

RockaLock · 10/10/2025 15:30

My sale return arrived back at Toast on Monday and was refunded today, if that helps.

ETA: I didn’t get an email in the intervening period acknowledging receipt, it was straight to the refund confirmation email.

IlovePond · 10/10/2025 15:48

@BankfieldForever - I didn’t get any email confirmation that Toast had received my return, even though tracking showed it had been delivered days earlier. When I emailed CS with the tracking details I just got a standard: Refunds can take a while. They didn’t even confirm they had received it. I was not impressed.

Today I got an email saying I was being refunded, but they had had the parcel since last Friday.

@BankfieldForever my most recent return took over a week from when it arrived at Toast to when I got a refund email. Veeeeeeery slow indeed.

faustina · 10/10/2025 15:56

@BankfieldForever - I sent my returns back at the beginning of last week and I received my final refund notification yesterday. I don't think I got any other acknowledgments, like the others above have mentioned. I wouldn't worry too much if I were you until next week. They can be slow especially during a busy sale, but they've never forgotten

CashmereCat · 10/10/2025 17:36

My returns also very slow.

@Theteapotsbrokenspout
The other type of arm warmer you could try is cycling ones , for the lycra clad types who get cold arms as they hold up traffic all over the UK 😉

They come in various fabrics, although not necessarily pleasing to the eye I have found them extremely useful as aRaynauds sufferer myself.

CashmereCat · 10/10/2025 17:39

Anyone had issues with Toast Pro sellers on Vinted?

I have seen an item I really like, sent a question about sizing, then another
Crickets ...
Are they above replying?
They are clearly active

faustina · 10/10/2025 19:57

@CashmereCat I've had a few similar encounters with sellers like that on Vinted and I'd assume there was something wrong with the item if they avoided replying to my questions. If they're active it's pretty hard to not notice a question in an inbox

mizu · 10/10/2025 20:35

I think it’s odd when Vinted sellers don’t answer questions. Do they want to sell the item or not? I often want to say, if you give me the correct measurements I’ll likely purchase!

CashmereCat · 10/10/2025 20:41

Thanks @faustina and @mizu

It was simply what is the bust measurement
We all know Toast sizing varies so much.

faustina · 10/10/2025 20:43

Was it a jumper? Maybe they'd shrunk it and didn't want to say?

CashmereCat · 10/10/2025 21:35

No a dress @faustina
Looked in perfect condition

faustina · 10/10/2025 21:45

That's weird, but like you say, we all know Toast sizing isn't at all reliable. I'd give it a miss if it were me. You've messaged twice. Unless she's in the middle of an emergency but if that happens you can say you're on holiday and people know they have to wait. Hope you find the same dress with a better seller!

Itself bit baffling for a Pro
Definitely not away as new things being uploaded

Will pass

ScottishMouse · 11/10/2025 07:21

I’ve had this a couple of times lately @CashmereCat. Ended up missing out on a jumper and a shirt that I really wanted and likely would have purchased if the sellers had bothered to put the measurements in the listing in the first place, or answered my questions asking for them. Sometimes I think it is laziness, the seller knows someone else will come along and buy the item without them having to bother taking it out and finding a measuring tape and replying to the question. It’s so odd though. And frustrating.

I dont generally put the measurements but always offer and reply quickly to any questions.
The dress is still not sold

ScottishMouse · 11/10/2025 18:19

Tried on a few new pieces today. The silk cotton shirt with the tie neck is beautiful, and I loved both colours though I think the navy is better for my colouring. But dry clean only…no thanks!
The navy wool coat is a thing of beauty, and if I didn’t have a moth issue in my house, I would be thinking about investing. But I need to stick with my giant puffer coat instead as the moths are not interested in that.
The padded wrap coat made me look like a child who had borrowed her mother’s coat. It totally swamped me at 5’2” even in the smallest size.
The collared wool cardigan is a nice shape - cropped, wide sleeves - but a bit dull and uninteresting.
The quilted trousers went back, lovely and cosy as they were, I felt for that price I needed to be sure that I would wear and wear them, and I just wasn’t.
I wore my smoke Donegal cardigan for the first time today and had to take it off as I was too warm! This unseasonably warm weather is no good, I want to wear my woolly things!

faustina · 11/10/2025 18:31

Talking about dry clean only has anyone noticed there's some really nice brushed cashmere this season? They have it at Cos, and JL and also M and S and it's all do not wash (at all!!!) - some of them say dry clean only but don't wash ...ever? Imagine having a jumper you could never wash!!
